CoAudit Reliability: Faster Large-Spreadsheet Search, Steadier Connections, and Region Switching Fix

Punchcard CoAudit now handles large journal-entry spreadsheets much faster, stays connected in background tabs, and recovers more gracefully from long-running work.

Performance

  • Much faster search on large spreadsheets: CoAudit searches across big exports, such as journal-entry files with thousands of rows, in seconds instead of minutes, so they no longer fail partway through.
  • Faster citations and page reads on large files: Citations and page reads on very large spreadsheets now resolve quickly instead of stalling.

Improvements

  • Steadier connection in background tabs: A CoAudit chat left in a background tab or behind another window now stays connected, so it can still reach your Excel or Word pane when you return.
  • Smoother recovery in Excel and Word: If the Excel or Word pane is briefly reconnecting, CoAudit waits and tries again instead of reporting that it can't reach the pane.
  • Clearer feedback when work stalls: If a step produces no output for several minutes, CoAudit now ends it with a visible error instead of leaving you waiting with no explanation.
  • Clearer guidance when a code session expires: CoAudit now recognizes when a code session has expired and starts a new one.
  • More reliable issue reporting: When you ask CoAudit to report a problem or missing feature to the Punchcard team, it confirms only when the report was actually submitted. If it can't confirm, it tells you so.
  • Better handling of unattached workbooks: When a workbook isn't attached, CoAudit now explains that cell notes and citations can't be saved, instead of attempting to write them and failing.

Fixes

  • Citation links in tables: A citation that sits alone in a table cell now appears as a clickable citation instead of plain "[1]" text.
  • Region switching in Excel and Word add-ins: Switching between the US and EU regions no longer bounces the pane back and forth between them. It now opens in the region you chose.
