CoAudit Excel Safeguards: Safer Sorting, Hyperlinks and Undo

Punchcard's CoAudit now protects Excel workpapers better when it sorts data, adds hyperlinks or undoes its own changes, so audit AI edits are safer to trust.

CoAudit in Excel

Safer sorting

  • CoAudit now declines to sort a range when the sort would silently change figures elsewhere in the workbook. This covers formulas that depend on row position or that pair the sorted rows with another range.
  • It also declines when a sort could split related records across columns.
  • Sorting still goes ahead for totals and other formulas that give the same answer after a sort.
  • If CoAudit declines, it tells you why, so you can decide how to proceed.

Safer hyperlinks

  • CoAudit now refuses link text that names a different website than the link actually opens. It also refuses text with hidden characters or look-alike dots.
  • Ordinary text such as file names ("Bank Confirmation.pdf"), "U.S. GAAP" and version numbers is no longer mistaken for a website.

More reliable undo

  • Undoing CoAudit's changes now handles sheets that were renamed or deleted along the way, and tables that were renamed.
  • Undo no longer writes old values back onto rows that a sort has since reordered.
  • If a change can't be undone safely, CoAudit says so instead of guessing.

Clearer confirmation cards

  • Confirmation cards now show the exact names, rules and settings CoAudit is about to change.
  • They also warn when a filter, pivot change or slicer selection will alter totals in other cells.

Charts, pivots and filters

  • Pivot sorts and expand/collapse are paused when other formulas read the pivot's cells, unless the formulas only look up values from it in a way that stays correct.
  • Filters now warn before hiding rows that cells beside the filtered range share.
  • Trendline settings are checked after they are applied.
