Cascading settings, Auto sort for requests, and easier category creation
Punchcard now lets firms, clients and engagements share settings, adds CoAudit Auto sort and Reset placements for PBC request documents, and makes creating categories simpler.
Features
- Settings that cascade from firm to client to engagement. Each setting either has its own value or inherits the one above it, so a firm that sets nothing gets Punchcard's default. Set it once at the firm level and every client and engagement follows.
- Lock a setting at the firm or client level to make its value apply to everything below it. Lower levels keep their own values stored and get them back if the lock is lifted.
- Apply to all clients and engagements pushes a value down in one step.
- Covers automatic submission, client file deletion, the weekly status report (on/off, day, time and contents), date, currency and number formats, and the AI response language.
- Firm settings pages, plus new Requests and Formats sections for each client, and matching sections for each engagement, show where every value comes from, for example "Inherit: Monday (from the firm)".
- Engagement retention policy. Choose to automatically delete an engagement and everything in it a set number of months after its audit period end or its archival. By default, engagements are kept forever.
- Only people who are allowed to delete engagements with content can change these settings.
- Engagements are deleted 30 days after they are marked, and the settings pages show the date. They also show how many engagements are coming due.
- Deletion reminder emails go out before the deletion. By default they arrive 1 week and 1 day ahead, and you can choose up to 10 reminder times. They go to the firm's administrators or to one address of your choice.
- Changing the policy, unarchiving an engagement, or moving the audit period end later cancels a pending deletion.
- Auto sort for Requests. CoAudit can now file a Request's documents into the right sub-request and folder. Start it from the Sub-requests menu in the web app, or run it from the Excel add-in.
- Reset placements. Put every document back where it was originally uploaded, in a single step. You can undo a reset, and the undo skips any document someone has moved since.
- Easier category creation. The category menu now works like Linear's label menu. It offers "Add category…" or "Change or add category…", keeps your current choice pinned at the top, and lets you create a category on the spot by picking a colour.
- New keyboard shortcuts. Press L to open Category and ⇧D to open Due date on a hovered or focused request.
Improvements
- Client administrators can change a Request's privacy on their engagements and edit its client list. Previously only the engagement's auditors could.
- A Request's Properties card now includes a client whitelist, and the Properties list is reordered by likely use: Category, Assignee, Due date, Priority, Privacy.
- Property menus scroll when your window is short, instead of running off-screen.
- Property chips no longer show a focus ring after you pick with the mouse or Enter. The ring still shows after Escape or Tab.
- The new-request form lists categories in the engagement's own order.
- Lists with many firms, clients or engagements load faster, and weekly status reports are prepared faster.
Fixes
- Auto sort no longer blocks Reset placements. Reset used to be refused for a while right after a sort finished. It now works as soon as the sort ends.
- Request table reading in CoAudit is fixed. CoAudit no longer reports that a Request has no sub-request table when it does.
- Setting a date format, number format or AI language to Automatic now saves correctly.
- A client's settings are now visible only to auditors who can see at least one of its engagements.
- Confirmation dialogs for applying a value to lower levels now close once the change is saved, and name only the levels that will change.
