Punchcard Feature updates

Financial Statement Review

• Choose both statements before running: You can now select the current-year and prior-year statements first, then start the review yourself when you're ready.
• More ways to add statements: Browse existing files or upload a single file for either statement. Both statements can be uploaded at the same time.
• PDF-only selection: Selecting a file that isn't a PDF is now declined up front.
• Prior-year comparison follows reruns: When the prior-year comparison reruns automatically, the screen now follows along.
• Setup dialog fits narrow windows: The setup dialog's contents stay within smaller screens.

CoAudit chat

• Recovers from AI capacity interruptions: If the AI service is briefly overloaded or has a temporary failure partway through a response, CoAudit retries automatically and shows "Retrying..." while it does. You can still press Stop during the wait, and sending a new message, switching chats, or retrying manually cancels the automatic attempt.
• Fewer false "Conversation stopped responding" errors: Interrupted, disconnected, or stopped responses no longer count toward this warning, so it appears only when it's warranted.

Document viewing

• Stalled downloads no longer hang: If a document stalls while loading, the viewer stops after 60 seconds and offers a Try again button, in both Financial Statement Review and Workpaper.
• Loading spinner clears reliably once the first page appears.

Requests board

• Consistent panel width: The Request detail panel keeps the width you set when you select another request.
• Fewer accidental resizes: Only a deliberate drag resizes the panel, and releasing the mouse outside the window ends the drag.
• Arrow keys act on the focused control: When focus is on the divider, a tab, or a button outside the list, arrow keys no longer jump to a different request.

Other improvements

• Client and engagement headers no longer clip their content.
• The client list loads faster.

Office Add-ins (Excel & Word)

• Requests folder in Browse Punchcard: The file browser now shows a Requests folder pinned above your engagement folders and loose files. Open it to see your top-level Requests, with Requests included in breadcrumbs and search paths so you always know where you are.
• More reliable evidence lookups from scanned documents: When CoAudit reads scanned (OCR'd) documents, it can now look up rows by their label, read headings and lines of text, and cite the exact printed text of a cell, including cells where the text wraps across lines.
• Clearer handling of unclear matches: If a label matches no row, or matches several rows, CoAudit flags that specific item as an exception instead of guessing. The rest of the batch still completes.
• Smoother keyboard and search behavior: Focus returns to the Requests folder where you left it, and reopening a search keeps your cursor in place.

Sub-requests

• A cleaner General row in the Table view: General now looks and behaves like any other sub-request row. It shows the parent Request's number, has a cell under every column, and has its own Comments cell.
• Folder cells you can work with directly: General's folder cells show file counts and file lists, and let you upload and drag and drop files, just like sub-request rows.
• Parent discussion in one click: General's Comments cell opens the parent Request's own discussion, with its unresolved count and pinned threads, without mixing in sub-request comments.
• Every document has one home: Parent documents that no folder cell lists, such as team-only files, still appear under General's Other files, so nothing is missing or shown twice.
• Retired "No sub-request" row: The separate "No sub-request" row and its Edit folders switch are gone from the Table view. General now covers it. The Itemized view is unchanged.
• Better keyboard focus: After moving files to General with the keyboard, focus lands on the cell the files went to.

Improvements

• CoAudit picks up where it left off. If a CoAudit answer is cut off partway through, you now see a clear error and a Continue button. Work already done in that reply is kept and not re-run. In many cases CoAudit continues on its own once.
• Unresolved comments stay in view. Every unresolved comment thread on a Request or file now appears in a pinned area above the Request, headed "Unresolved" (or "Changes requested" when every thread is a return reason). Resolving a thread moves it down to the discussion list, and reopening brings it back. There is no separate pin action anymore, and the request and file discussions no longer have an Unresolved filter.
• Uploads are never renamed silently. If a file is saved under a new name such as "Invoice (2)" because that name already exists, you are told the new name. Duplicate-name checks on the request list now ignore capitalization.
• Clearer upload destinations. The upload tray and drop areas now say where your files are going, for example "Uploading to Request name › Folder", using the current section names (Resources, Task attachments, Requested files).
• New requests appear in the Files tab right away. A request created from the board now shows up in the Files tree without a refresh.
• Clearer Workpaper Files tab. The empty Files tab reads "No files yet" and explains where uploaded files go. The document group source switch is now always labelled "Shared document group", and the rename dialog is titled "Rename group".
• Sub-request tables are easier to use. The scroll arrows for wide tables now sit beside the header row instead of covering your data. Sub-requests are added from the Request's ⋯ menu, and a Request with none shows no empty sub-requests section.
• Dropdown menus are back to their natural width in places like PDF zoom controls, sampling forms, and notification settings.
• Excel agent guidance. CoAudit now avoids creating spilled link lists in Excel, where every row would open the first row's link, and writes one link per row instead.

Excel add-in

• Clearer cell-editing warning. If CoAudit is waiting for you to finish editing a cell, a short warning appears above the chat input ("press Enter or Esc"). Approval cards recheck automatically once you leave the cell.
• More reliable Refresh. If a refresh lands on an out-of-date version, the add-in keeps refreshing (up to three times in five minutes) instead of leaving a blank pane.
• Clearer empty states. The Context tab and file picker no longer point to a Files tab that isn't there. Button labels wrap between words instead of breaking mid-word. The "still processing" notice no longer covers Undo / Move after an upload.
• Clearer messages when an engagement isn't reachable. The add-in now says "This engagement isn't available" instead of a permanent "being updated" message.

Fixes

• Python-based file analysis works better in CoAudit. Failed attempts that CoAudit fixes on its own now show as a quiet "Hit an error, tried again" line instead of a red error card. CoAudit can now read older .xls spreadsheets and password-protected PDFs, and it can read just a page range of a very large scanned document, so long reports load much faster.
• Scanned-text reading now works in the web chat, not just in the Excel add-in.

New features

• Folders on Requests: Documents on a Request now appear as one outline of folders. Create, rename, move and delete folders (up to 10 levels deep), and drop in whole folders or zip files with their structure kept. Deleting a folder lets you Delete everything or Keep files by moving them up a level.
• Files tab for each engagement: Browse Requests, the engagement's own files and OneDrive in one tree, with breadcrumbs, multi-select, drag and drop, an in-page viewer and Download all for any folder.
• Find files: Search an engagement's files by name and by content together, with results that open at the matching page. Exact words are found even when the wording isn't a close match.
• OneDrive folders: Firms using Microsoft 365 can copy folders and files from OneDrive, Shared with me and SharePoint into an engagement. Punchcard only reads what the auditor can already open and never changes anything in Microsoft 365.
• Firm and Personal libraries: The Library now has a Firm tab (shared with your team) and a Personal tab (only you), both with nested folders, a built-in viewer, name and content search, and a Library link in the header. The old Punchcard-wide library has been removed.
• CoAudit and the Library: CoAudit can search and list library documents, and the chat "+" menu has a Library picker for attaching files or folders. Typing @ finds library files and folders as you type.
• Create workpaper from a Request: For firms with workpaper creation turned on, a Request without a Workpaper shows a Create workpaper button in its Workpaper section.
• Sub-request tables: The Table and Itemized views let you change a row's status directly. Columns fit their values better, and moves, deletes and folder edits show instantly with Undo.
• Activity tab: Clicking an activity row opens that Request in place and highlights the comment, file or field it refers to.
• Request comments: Row and cell comments on a Workpaper are now internal to the audit team and appear only on the Workpaper.

Improvements

• Firm Analytics now uses whole Monday–Sunday weeks and calendar months, with the current period marked as partial.
• Excel add-in: Apply template… is back, using templates saved in your libraries. Uploads open on a sensible default folder, with Undo and Replace or Keep both when names clash.
• Engagement header: The Requests, Tasks, Files and Activity tabs now sit in the title row. Tabs that don't fit move under a ⋯ menu.
• Library and Files tab speed: Large libraries open faster and scroll smoothly. Folder and file edits appear immediately.
• Clearer delete messages that name the document being deleted.
• Privacy: The user menu item "Privacy preferences" is now just "Privacy".

Fixes

• Excel add-in, manual calculation: CoAudit recalculates only the cells it just wrote, so a deliberately frozen random sample is not redrawn. It asks you to press F9 if recalculation fails.
• Importing Request lists: If the connection drops while CoAudit creates a Request list, it now checks and reports what was actually created.
• Timed-out CoAudit actions now say whether they were waiting on an approval, a cell edit or ongoing work.
• Excel add-in region: South African users are now routed to the EU region on first run.
• Request folder fixes: Select all, double-clicking folders and the sub-request table layout behave more reliably.

Requests

• Return reasons now stay visible: when you return a Request to the client and give a reason, it starts a pinned "Changes requested" thread above the Request. The client can answer it directly, and it no longer disappears once the Request moves on.
• Pin and unpin threads: the audit team can pin any client-visible thread, or unpin one, from its ⋯ menu. Pinned threads sit above the Request instead of in the discussion list.
• Subrequest threads roll up to the parent: a Request with subrequests shows their pinned threads in its own "Changes requested" box, labeled with row number and title. Auditors get one Unpin all button. Subrequests with a pinned thread show a yellow comment icon.
• Subrequests stay inside the parent: in Table and Document groups views, subrequests no longer have pages of their own. Opening one from a link, notification, or the board takes you to the parent with that row in view.
  • Each row shows its files, an upload area, and its comments in place.
  • Document groups gains a Comments column showing unresolved counts for each row.
  • The parent's activity combines its subrequests' history and comment previews, labeled by number and title.
  • General is always the last row, with a permanent upload target.
  • Switching back to List restores separate pages. Nothing is moved or deleted.

CoAudit in Excel

• Writes wait while you edit a cell: Excel blocks add-in changes while a cell is being edited, which could leave a half-finished schedule. CoAudit now pauses (up to 60 seconds) until you press Enter or Esc, and shows a notice telling you it is waiting. If you don't finish editing, it stops cleanly and writes nothing. This needs a recent version of Excel.
• Clearer limit for large Python results: guidance now explains that results written to the workbook are capped at about 256 KB, so very large schedules should be built in blocks.

Reliability

• CoAudit replies survive app updates: a reply being written while a new version rolls out is allowed to finish, instead of being cut off mid-answer.

Microsoft Marketplace

• Buy and set up Punchcard through Microsoft: buyers can open their purchase, choose where their firm's data lives, sign in with their Microsoft account, and set up their firm. They can also add the email domains used for automatic colleague sign-up, and prove ownership of each through a DNS record.
• Inactive subscriptions are blocked: if a firm's marketplace subscription is suspended for non-payment or cancelled, its auditors, including in CoAudit chat, are sent to a notice page until Microsoft reinstates it. No data is deleted.
• Only firm administrators manage email domains.

New

• Document groups view for subrequests: see subrequests as rows and document groups as columns in a "Requested files table." Each cell shows how many files are in that group. Click a count to see and open the files, or click an empty cell or drop files on it to upload. Auditors can add, rename or remove a document group across all of a request's subrequests in one step. This view is available on firms with the workflow builder.
• Drag files between cells: drag a file onto a cell to Move it, or Copy it as an auditor. Dropping a file onto General in the Itemized view asks Move or cancel first.
• Subrequest view names: the views are now called List, Itemized and Table.
• Warning before uploading to Resources: on a client-visible request, uploading to Resources now asks first, because Resources can't be used as evidence for testing, including in CoAudit. Choose Upload as resource, Upload as evidence, or cancel. You can turn the reminder off.
• Wider request panel on the board: the request detail panel can be dragged out to 85% of the board's width, which helps with wide subrequest tables. The board now opens as an even split.

Improvements

• Workpaper downloads work with the Excel add-in: Workpaper Only, Files + Workpaper and engagement exports now carry the citations the Excel add-in needs. Open the workbook in the add-in and each cited cell shows its evidence. Evidence is no longer packed inside Excel files.
• Procedures by Column in the workpaper memo: the exported memo lists each column's description, after Procedures.
• CoAudit workbooks open in the add-in: Excel files CoAudit delivers carry their citations in the add-in's own format and attach to the engagement directly.
• Excel add-in requests in board order: requests and tasks now list in the board's order, so "2 Cash" sits above "12 Payroll". In Browse Punchcard, subrequests nest under their parent request.
• Pop out and Dock pane help: Settings in the add-in has step-by-step instructions for floating the pane or docking it back (desktop Office).
• Cleaner client list: a client whose engagements are all private ones you aren't on no longer appears in your list. Clients with no engagements yet still show.
• Firm admins see their whole firm: firm admins can open, edit and change privacy on every engagement in their own firm, including private ones.

Fixes

• Evidence opens in desktop Excel: some users in desktop Excel saw "Failed to fetch" on every document. Evidence now opens reliably.
• Dragging files out of a cell's file list works again, and the edge-scroll strips no longer cover the column titles.

Removed

• The in-app download for the older Excel add-in and the "Legacy DS Format" and embedded-files workpaper exports are gone.

Features

• New Requests are revealed right away: after you create a Request on the board, it is selected, its group expands, and it scrolls into view, just like opening a Request link. If a search, filter, or hidden group keeps it off screen, a "created" message tells you so instead of leaving you guessing. This works for every way of creating a Request, including Create more and Copy.
• Resend client invites: on the Members page, you can resend the invite email to selected client users, either in bulk or one person at a time.
• Excel and Word add-ins in one package: the Punchcard Office store listing now covers both Excel and Word. Existing Excel installs pick up Word with the next version update.

Improvements

• Board ordering stays put: Requests are now ordered by identifier by default, so a Request no longer jumps to the top of its group each time its status changes. Boards that still had the old default ordering saved are moved to the new one once. If you choose "Last updated" again, it sticks.
• Firm Analytics lists newest first: activity and growth tables, the growth period picker, and contributor lists now show the most recent entries first. Charts still run left to right in time. Document lists also show when processing started.

Fixes

• Engagement "Copy link" opens the client board: the copied link now points to the client board unless the engagement is team-only.
• Renaming a category works the first time: the rename field no longer loses focus as the menu closes, which used to take several tries.
• EU sign-in in the Office add-ins: switching the add-in pane to the EU region now works on desktop Office. If Office refuses the switch, the pane stays where it is and tells you the add-in needs an update, instead of showing a misleading sign-in error.
• Large pastes are more reliable: pasting very large tables, such as tens of thousands of rows, no longer fails partway through.
• Fewer interrupted requests: brief connection drops no longer cause sign-in checks to fail on pages such as the Workpaper Problems tab.

Word Add-in

Features

• Cleaner citation look: Cited figures are no longer marked with a superscript number or a change to the figure's font. Citations are now shown as native underlines: lavender for unreviewed, green for validated, and red for flagged. Click any citation to open its evidence and reasoning.
• Citation highlights switch: A new setting in Settings lets you show or hide the citation underlines without touching the document text. Where Word can't draw native underlines, toggleable outlines are used instead.
• Edit your document by chat: CoAudit can read the document's paragraphs along with their citations, insert or replace text, and cite figures to evidence. Replacing existing text asks for your approval in Manual mode, and if the document isn't yet attached to an engagement, CoAudit asks which one first.
• Undo CoAudit's edits: CoAudit can take back its document edits, newest first. Anything you changed since is skipped and reported.
• Selected content travels with your message: A chip above the chat box shows the selected text or table cells that will accompany your next message. Dismiss it to leave the selection out.
• Reasoning for checked figures: CoAudit can attach its accuracy reasoning to figures it has checked.

Improvements

• Older numbered citations are converted to the new look when you open a document, keeping their recorded colors and underlines.
• Existing citation numbers stay in order (1, 2, 3…) when citations are added or cleared in older documents.
• Reviewing a document no longer disturbs citation underlines that haven't changed.

Fixes

• Converting older citations or correcting a cited figure no longer alters the figure itself, including its font and digits.
• CoAudit now refers to citations in a way that matches what you see in the document.
• Selections in the document stay attached to your message even after you save the file under a new name.
• Tables are read correctly in more cases when cell details are unavailable.

Request panel

• Cleaner layout: The Request panel on the board has new spacing, headings and property pills. The Request ID sits above the title. Requested documents now reads Requested files, and the Workpaper has its own section.
• A fuller ⋯ menu: One menu now holds New sub-request, Sub-requests from a table…, Move to…, Add workpaper, Mark as read / unread, Copy, Make a copy… and Delete.
  • Copy offers the ID, URL, title, description, or the title as a link, and each choice confirms what it copied.
  • Make a copy… opens the create form prefilled from the Request, keeping its due date, audience and assignee. Nothing is saved until you submit it.
• Activity is easier to scan: Runs of events collapse behind a "Show N events" row. Resolved comment threads collapse to a single row that you can reopen from anywhere on it.
• Resolve or reopen from any comment: A reply's ⋯ menu now offers Resolve thread / Reopen thread, so you don't need to scroll back to the top.
• All / Comments / Activity tabs: The discussion area has these three tabs. "View thread" on a resolve entry now opens the thread even if the current tab would hide it, including on the full Request page.
• Faster loading: The panel shows a preview of the Request while it loads, so content doesn't jump into place.

Request list and board

• Inspector follows keyboard focus: Moving through list rows with the arrow keys updates the open panel to the focused Request.
• Faster hover on list rows, with refined pills, spacing and scrollbars.
• Search folds into a magnifier when the header is narrow. ⌘F or "/" opens it across the whole header.
• Two export options: Export status report… and Export files… are now separate. Files and workpapers are offered together only when the engagement has workpapers.
• Board view settings no longer overflow when many groups are hidden.

Excel add-in

• Citation highlights switch: Under Settings ▸ Workbook you can turn off the shading on Cited, Validated and Flagged cells. The setting is saved in the workbook, so it travels with the file. If a change fails partway, for example on a protected workbook, the switch shows the workbook's real state.
• One-click browser sign-in: The browser page shows the code from your Excel or Word window and the account you're signing in with. If the codes match, one click on Connect completes sign-in, and nothing needs typing. A sign-in from a different network from the pane's asks for your password and shows a warning.

Clients

• Better website logos: Client avatars can use the logo from the client's website. Punchcard picks the highest-resolution icon and supports SVG and newer image formats. It finds logos on more sites, including sites with older security certificates, and rechecks sites it couldn't read at first.

Sampling

• Type each stratum's cut point directly in its row. The amount is checked before it is applied, and currency symbols are optional.
• Cut points drag anywhere along the bar and can move past each other.
• Currency formats read correctly: Suffixes such as "лв." and "د.إ" now work when you type a cut point. A precise cut point also stays exact if you tab through its field without typing.

Emails and fixes

• Activity digest emails are redesigned. Repeated uploads are folded into one line, and changes that were reverted are left out.
• Copy URL on a Request now links to the Request's own board.
• Skip link now goes to the visible CoAudit chat.

New: Stratify Random samples by amount

• Random sampling can now split a numeric column into amount-based strata (ranges), not just by distinct text values.
• Drag cut points directly on a visual bar, or use Suggest to propose cut points automatically (equal-dollar ranges or a statistically optimized method) along with how much of the sample each stratum should receive (even split, proportional to size, or an allocation that favors strata with more variation).
• Each stratum shows its item count and lets you set its own share of the sample as a count or a percentage.
• Sampling receipts (Excel and PDF) document each stratum's range, item count, and how the sample was drawn.

New: Sampling methods for subrequest table imports

• When adding subrequests from a pasted table, you can now choose a sampling method — Random (including amount stratification), MUS, High Value, or JE Testing — so only the sampled rows become subrequests, with the sampling run saved for your receipt.
• If creating subrequests fails partway through, the import dialog now stays open so you can retry without re-pasting or losing your sample.

Fixed

• The request panel's Add workpaper option is back for firms still using the classic workpaper builder; requests that already have a workpaper continue to show a one-click Open workpaper button.
• The privacy lock icon on a request's header no longer gets visually clipped, which had been preventing it from opening.
• Several accessibility and polish improvements to the sampling panel: better color contrast on warnings, visible focus outlines for keyboard navigation, larger click targets on strata handles and buttons, and respect for reduced-motion settings.
• Minor visual fixes on the engagement board: the Add button stays circular, category colors are preserved when reordering groups, and sort-direction icons are now consistent.

Board

• Customize categories directly on the board: rename, recolor, and reorder categories from the new Categories panel (Display menu) or by right-clicking a category header — changes apply instantly across headers, cards, and the panel for everyone on the engagement.
• Drag rows into a custom order: dragging a request or task within its group now places it exactly where you drop it, automatically switching that view to Manual ordering (with an Undo toast if you change your mind).
• Set default view for everyone: auditors can publish their current board arrangement — layout, grouping, sorting, and filters — as the shared default for the whole engagement team and for clients.
• Renumber now works under any sort order, in both Board and List views (previously it only worked when sorted by Manual or Identifier). Repeated renumbering also keeps same-named items in a stable order instead of shuffling them.

CoAudit Chat

• The model picker pill now always names the AI model that will actually respond (e.g. "GPT-6.1 Sol · Medium") instead of an ambiguous "Default." It opens into a streamlined panel with an effort slider, a one-click jump to the fastest setting, and a reset to the recommended model and effort.
• Rename an open chat directly from its options menu in task chat, in addition to renaming from the chat history list.
• "Manage skills" and "Add skill" are back in the composer's "+" menu.
• Large AI-built spreadsheets and multi-tab workbooks are far less likely to be rejected for size — the AI also now knows to build large datasets in steps when needed.

Clients

• Client and engagement creation now use a streamlined flow with clearer empty states, and engagement settings (members, categories, roll-forward, reference documents) are reorganized into clearer sections.
• Removed a redundant "Settings" option from the engagement view's own menu, since that view already is the engagement's settings.

Fixes

• A subrequest's title now updates immediately everywhere it's shown after a rename, instead of requiring a page reload.

New

• Add one subrequest at a time, instantly. The "+" button on the Subrequests heading now opens the New Subrequest form directly, pre-filled with the same fields your other subrequests already use — just fill in the values and create it.
• Edit subrequests as a table. When a request's subrequests are organized as a table, the "⋯" menu now includes Edit as table…, letting auditors add, change, and delete subrequests together in one dialog. Paste a block of data from Excel or type new rows directly — pressing Enter moves down a column just like a spreadsheet.
• Review before you save. Before any table edit is applied, a review screen shows exactly what changed — new rows, updated values, and any subrequests that will be removed, including what they contain (such as uploaded files or comments) — so nothing is deleted by accident.

Improved

• Deleting a subrequest that has files, comments, or an in-progress status now asks for an extra confirmation, and the Save button clearly states how many subrequests will be removed.
• Closing the table editor with unsaved changes now asks before discarding your edits.
• Subrequests entered as free text (just a title, no structured data) now display properly inside the subrequests table instead of being left out.
• A note now appears when there are more columns to see by scrolling sideways in the subrequests table.

New: Move documents between General and subrequests

• Drag-and-drop or menu-based moves: On a request that uses subrequest tables, any file can now be moved between General and a subrequest — drag the file onto another row, or use the new Move to… option from the file's menu or the selection toolbar. A searchable list shows every available destination.
• Undo included: Most moves can be undone right from the confirmation message, restoring the file to exactly where it was.
• Safeguards built in: Moving a file that would delete verified or reviewed work prompts for confirmation first. Moving a file whose document group is shared with another workpaper clearly names who else will see it before you proceed.
• Available to clients too: Clients can move their own documents between General and the subrequests they have access to; destinations they can't use are shown with a plain-language reason (e.g., "Managed by your audit team").
• Dragging multiple selected files shows a count badge so it's clear the whole selection is moving together.

Improved: Keyboard navigation in request lists

• Arrow keys now move through requests and their subrequests in a natural top-to-bottom order, automatically expanding and collapsing subrequest groups as needed.
• Left/Right arrows fold and unfold subrequests, Home/End jump to the first or last item, and typing a request's name jumps straight to it.
• Screen reader support for the request list has been improved, with clearer announcements of structure and loading states.

Fixed

• Fast typing in request lists: Quickly typing a word like "Cash" or "Legal" while browsing the request list no longer gets hijacked partway through by a keyboard shortcut, which previously sent the rest of the word into the wrong search box.
• Clearer move notices: When moving a file into a document group shared with another workpaper, the confirmation now plainly states where the file is going and who else gains access to it.

Improved: AI-assisted workpaper reliability

• Strengthened safeguards around AI-assisted cell edits in workpapers — edits are now verified against the exact cells intended, and actions on spreadsheets with multiple sheets or very large data ranges are better protected against being applied to the wrong location.
• Improved accuracy of AI-generated citations when similar values appear in multiple rows of a document.

Requests & Subrequests

• Paste a table, get real subrequests. Pasting rows under a request (or importing Excel/CSV) now creates one subrequest per row — each with its own status, assignee, due date, files, and comments — instead of a static selections grid. Choose Show as: Table (a compact row-per-item view inside the request) or List at any time, and switch later from the request's ⋯ menu without losing any data.
• Edit values directly in the table. Auditors can edit a subrequest's values inline, rename or remove a column across every row, and reorder or clear values. Clients can upload documents, comment, and submit each row for review, keeping updates organized line by line.
• Download the table anytime. The pasted table is available as a generated attachment on the request (Excel), and a Sampling receipt (Excel + PDF) remains available for tables created from a sampled list.
• CoAudit can work with your tables. Ask CoAudit to read a subrequest table, edit a value, add rows, or switch the view — changes appear immediately in the request.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where filled-in form fields and annotations in PDF documents (typed values, checkboxes, highlights, stamps) appeared blank in the document viewer, even though that information was already available elsewhere. These now render correctly.
• Task chat history now shows chats that teammates started on the same task, not just your own conversations — restoring visibility that was previously lost.
• Fixed a rare issue where a task's privacy toggle could silently revert to its previous state shortly after being changed.

Requests & Accepted-Request Tracking

• Client edits to an Accepted request no longer send it back for review. Instead, auditors see an amber "Changed since accepted" flag on the request's row, card, and detail panel. Opening it shows who changed what and when; a Mark reviewed action clears the flag and records that it was reviewed. Any status change also clears it automatically, and the board can be filtered to just the changed requests.

Comments & Discussions

• Comment threads can now be resolved and reopened. A visible Resolve button appears on each open thread; resolving collapses it to a single line showing who resolved it and when, with a Reopen control alongside. An All / Unresolved filter is available wherever discussions appear — request pages, the board's quick-view panel, and workpaper cell comments.
• Reactions: comments now support reacting with any emoji, not just a thumbs-up.
• Mentioned people and files become clickable once a comment or description is saved — clicking a person opens a card with their role, email, and quick actions (send email, add a comment, or start a Teams chat between auditors); clicking a file opens it in the document viewer.

Task & Request Creation

• Creating from a template now uses a simpler, searchable picker (Personal/Firm/Punchcard templates) with a preview before you create — available to firms still using the classic workflow builder. Old template share links are no longer supported and show a clear notice instead.

Board Improvements

Sub-requests for breaking down PBC requests

• Split any request into individually trackable sub-requests — add them one at a time, or create a batch by pasting a table (one sub-request per row) using the same sampling options available elsewhere in Punchcard.
• Accepting a request with open sub-requests offers to accept all of them at once, with an Undo if you change your mind.
• Move a sub-request to a different request, detach it as its own standalone request, or reorder sub-requests by typing a new position.
• A sampling receipt (Excel and PDF) is available whenever sub-requests were created from a sampled table.

Clearer client submission controls

• Clients now see a single, focused status control: Submit for review, Withdraw a submission, or Reopen an accepted request — each applies instantly with an Undo option instead of a confirmation dialog.
• Adding a comment or uploading a file to an accepted request automatically sends it back for review, with a clear notice beforehand and Undo afterward.
• After a client uploads files to a request that hasn't been submitted yet, a gentle nudge offers to submit it for review right away.

Redesigned Home for auditors

CoAudit understands what's on your screen

• CoAudit now picks up on what you have open or selected — the file and page you're viewing, the tasks selected on a board, the statement or checklist item in Financial Statement Review — so follow-ups like "this file" or "this finding" just work without re-explaining.
• CoAudit can also look up and act on a different task, engagement, or client by name from any chat, not just the one currently on screen, and always confirms before changing something you're not looking at.

Financial Statement Review

• Rotate pages that were scanned sideways directly from the viewer's zoom controls, so landscape documents display right-side up.

Client organizations

• Auditors can now upload a custom image for a client, or choose any color for their initials avatar.

• Adjustable pane zoom (Excel): Reviewers can now scale the CoAudit task pane down from the Settings page (the ⋯ menu in the pane header). Steps run from 100% down to 90%, 80%, 75%, 67%, and 50%. The preference is saved per device and applied before the pane loads, so the pane opens at the chosen size with no visible resize.

Improvements

• Consistent work status indicators: Status icons and colors across Punchcard have been unified into a coherent set, making it easier to read work status at a glance across different parts of the app.

Bug Fixes

• Chat citation highlights stay visible when clicking other cells (Excel): Clicking a citation link in a CoAudit chat response opens the source document with the relevant passage highlighted. Previously, clicking any workbook cell without its own linked evidence would clear that highlight. The highlight from a chat citation now persists until you click a cell that has its own evidence, or the viewer resets.
• CoAudit's cell and sheet references stay accurate within a turn (Excel): CoAudit now locks in the cell selection and active worksheet at the moment you press Send, and uses that snapshot consistently across every step it takes in that response — including when it navigates between sheets during its work. This prevents CoAudit from referencing the wrong cell or sheet mid-turn. The same fix applies to queued follow-up messages, each of which carries the selection captured when it was queued.

New

• TIFF files now open in the viewer — TIFF images, including multi-page files, display directly in the workpaper viewer. Every page is scanned for text, so you can lasso selections, place citations, and search TIFF content just like any other document.

Add-in improvements

• Stay signed in longer — The add-in now keeps you signed in for up to 14 days of inactivity and up to 90 days in total. You no longer need to re-authenticate after a day off or a long weekend.
• Jump to any level in the engagement picker — The firm and client names at the top of the engagement picker are now tappable. Tapping opens a menu showing the full navigation path — for example, My Engagements → All Clients — so you can jump directly to any level without stepping back through each screen.
• Browse all clients from My Engagements — An "All clients" link now appears in the My Engagements view, letting you see the full client list without navigating away first.
• Context tab leads with "Browse Punchcard" — When no files are attached, the primary action in the Context tab is now "Browse Punchcard," making it one tap to pull in the engagement's evidence.

New Features

• Follow-up queue in CoAudit: Keep typing while the AI is still responding — additional messages line up in a shelf above the composer and send in order once the current reply finishes. Each queued message can be steered directly into the AI's ongoing response (inserted while it is still generating), reordered by drag-and-drop, edited inline, or deleted. The queue survives a page reload and clears on sign-out. Available on web and in the Excel add-in.

• Selective export: Checkbox-select any subset of tasks on the board or list view, then open the Export modal — every download format (Status Report, .zip archive, workpapers) is automatically scoped to just those tasks. The .zip button displays the count ("Download (5) .zip") so the scope is always visible. With no selection, exports continue to cover the full engagement as before.

• Context usage indicator in CoAudit: A small percentage appears at the left edge of the chat composer once a conversation has used more than 80% of the AI's available capacity, signaling that starting a new chat will give the AI more room to work.

• Longer AI conversation memory: In extended CoAudit sessions, the AI can now look back at earlier parts of a conversation it could no longer directly see, keeping analysis coherent across hours-long workpaper reviews with many tool calls and file reads.

Improvements

• Office add-in ribbon navigation: The Viewer button now steps through three stages in sequence — split view, full viewer, then close — so each press advances one level without jumping unexpectedly. The CoAudit button opens a split alongside the document when a full-screen document is open, rather than replacing it. Selecting a workbook cell no longer switches which tab is visible; evidence loads quietly in the background and is waiting when you open the Viewer.

Bug Fixes

• Export selection no longer sticks: Switching between board and list views now correctly clears any task selection, so the Export button no longer offers a scoped download based on rows that are no longer on screen.
• Excel add-in: selecting a chart or shape no longer disrupts the add-in.
• CoAudit: reopening a conversation no longer occasionally re-ran an AI response that had already been delivered.

Features

• Reasoning and citations combined in Review: The cell detail panel in the CoAudit Excel add-in now shows a cell's reasoning and all its citations together in one unified view.

Bug Fixes

• Workpaper datasource sidebar toggle: Clicking a datasource's column group name now reliably toggles the workflow sidebar open and closed — clicking while the sidebar was already open previously had no visible effect.
• Match automation resilience: Individual slow record lookups no longer cause an entire datasource automation to fail; affected rows fall back gracefully while the remaining matches complete normally.
• New engagement form: Validation messages now clearly identify each missing field, and the back and cancel buttons return you to the client page you started from.
• Administrators can access the client directory: Firm administrator accounts now have full access to client and client-detail pages, matching auditor access.
• Skill library reliability: Skills reload correctly after a connection issue, unsaved edits prompt a confirmation before navigating away, and firm skills stay current when switching between accounts.

Features

Per-engagement client file-deletion policy

Auditors and admins can now set a client file-deletion rule for each engagement in Engagement Settings. Four modes are available:

• Always allow — clients can delete any file
• Before submission (new default for all new engagements) — clients can delete a file until the request it belongs to is submitted for review; once submitted, the file is locked for clients permanently
• Their own — clients can only delete files they uploaded themselves
• Never allow — only auditors can delete files

When a file is locked and a client tries to delete it, they see a "Request deletion" option that drafts a ready-made comment to the auditor asking them to remove the file. If a selection mixes locked and deletable files, a dialog explains exactly which files need auditor help and lets the client delete the rest right away.

Submitted requests automatically reopen when clients add activity

When a client comments on or uploads a file to a request that is already submitted for review or marked Done, the request automatically moves back to Returned — so auditors immediately see the new activity. Clients are prompted to confirm before their activity moves the request back to open, keeping the transition intentional.

Improvements

Excel add-in: contextual guidance and cleaner navigation

The CoAudit Excel add-in now shows contextual guidance in the Agent, Context, and Viewer panels when they are empty, explaining what to do next (for example, prompting the reviewer to open a document before drawing citations). Workspace navigation controls are also visually separated from panel-specific actions, making it easier to find the right control at a glance.

Reliability

• Workpaper automations are more resilient when the service starts up or restarts; a class of errors that could interrupt background work during a service restart has been resolved.

Engagement Board

• Click any task's index number in list view to type a new value directly (auditor only). A preview shows every task whose number will change — old and new — before anything is written. Press Escape to cancel without a dialog.
• Renumber all is now accessible from the … menu in the engagement breadcrumb in addition to the Display menu.
• When two people edit task numbers at the same time, the system detects the conflict and prompts the second person to retry — no silent overwrites.

Excel Add-in: Redesigned Context Tab

• The pane's Context tab now shows your workbook's document folders and files inline, with per-file status and processing state visible at a glance — no need to open a separate window.
• Upload files directly from the Context tab; per-file progress and Retry appear inline.
• Browse Punchcard is now a focused, attach-only window. Managing your workbook's documents and uploading files happens in the Context tab.
• The engagement picker now starts at the firm level when browsing, with a cleaner navigation trail. The Save button stays disabled and explains why until you select a different engagement.

Excel Add-in: CoAudit Citation and Review

• Draw mode is gated on the cite panel: the crosshair cursor is active only while the cite panel is open, so you can freely select and copy text from the document at any other time — no accidental draws.
• Delete a viewed citation with the Delete or Backspace key — no need to click the citation box first.
• Sum citations now show each number as its own operand with its own sign, so you can see and adjust every value in a total individually. Adding a sum to a cell that already has one appends the new operand instead of replacing the existing sum.
• Percentages and rounded figures now compute correctly in sums — the underlying number is used rather than what's displayed on screen.
• A compact persistent panel at the bottom of the reviewer card provides Reasoning and Citations tabs; the Citations tab label shows the count at a glance.
• When uploading multiple files with the same filename in a single batch, each file now shows the correct outcome independently — no more mixed-up statuses between same-named files.
• The upload destination list now leads with Create New at the top, so starting a new folder is always one click away.

Reliability Improvements

• Signing into the Excel add-in is more reliable across different Office and browser configurations; a browser-based sign-in option is available when the in-pane flow is unavailable.
• The citation viewer, workbook loading, and sign-out flow in the Excel add-in received several stability improvements.

New Features

• CoAudit reads and analyzes large files directly in your browser: Files that were too large for standard text extraction — where read and search tools previously returned nothing — can now be fully read, searched, and computed over by CoAudit. The analysis runs in your browser against the file's real contents with no extra wait time or server processing. This works in both the web chat and the Excel and Word task panes. If a computation is too intensive for the browser, CoAudit will tell you and prompt you to continue in the web chat where it can handle the load.

Improvements

• Compact, auto-hiding navigation controls in the evidence viewer: Page navigation and zoom controls now appear as floating pill capsules anchored to the bottom of the evidence viewer. They fade out while you scroll or when the viewer is idle, and reappear when you move your pointer or press a key. You can type a page number directly into the page field and press Enter to jump straight there.

Bug Fixes

• Excel add-in no longer silently disappears on Office desktop: A configuration issue was causing the CoAudit add-in to vanish for some users on Office desktop installations. This is now resolved.
• CoAudit icon displays in the correct color: The cyan CoAudit icon now renders and refreshes correctly in the Excel and Word task panes.
• Parallel AI research writes are now properly coordinated: When CoAudit researches multiple topics simultaneously and writes findings to different cells, those writes are now correctly coordinated — no cells are left blank due to a permissions conflict between parallel tasks.
• Worksheet tabs with special characters in their names now work correctly: Cells on sheets whose tab names contain certain special characters are now handled correctly when CoAudit validates or writes to them.

Performance

• More reliable processing of large workpapers: Improvements to how the platform handles large document processing reduce system load during peak usage, making workpaper processing faster and more consistent when many large files are being handled at once.

New

• Pinpoint citation highlighting in Excel: When a source document contains the same figure more than once on a page — a subtotal and a grand total, a positive and a negative, or two rows with matching amounts — CoAudit now highlights the exact line or table row the number was read from. Previously, the viewer could land on a nearby match instead of the precise cell. This applies when reviewing workpaper citations authored through the Excel add-in.

Fixes

• Excel add-in — ribbon buttons no longer freeze after using keyboard shortcuts: Using the Validate, Flag, or Clear keyboard shortcuts earlier in a session could cause the corresponding ribbon buttons to become permanently unresponsive, showing "CoAudit is working on your Validate" with no way to recover short of reopening the workbook. Keyboard shortcuts and ribbon buttons now operate independently.

• Excel add-in — PDF viewer loads reliably: An intermittent "Failed to load document" error that appeared when opening reasoning citations in the add-in viewer is resolved. A "Try again" click always fixed it, but the extra step is no longer needed.

• Citation highlighting respects negative signs and accounting notation: A figure like -120 or (120) could previously rank below 120.00 as a match for a citation of 120, causing the wrong figure to be highlighted. Signs, accounting parentheses, and percent symbols are now treated as part of the value, so each is matched against the correct cell.

• Simultaneous file uploads no longer produce false extraction errors: Uploading several files at the same time occasionally left one file reporting that text extraction had not completed — even though it had — and CoAudit would write incorrect exceptions into the workpaper. This is resolved.

• Partner API "Try it out" works on all regional endpoints: Integration partners using the EU endpoint of the Partner API documentation can now authenticate and test calls directly from the browser. Previously, the OAuth flow silently routed to the wrong region and failed.

Task Numbering

• Requests and tasks renumber independently: When you use the Renumber option in the Display menu, Requests are numbered first (1, 2, 3…) and workpaper tasks follow in their own sequence starting after the last Request. Previously the two types were interleaved into a single numbered list, which could leave client-visible Requests with non-contiguous numbers.
• Renumber is now the only way to change task numbers: The hover-to-edit pencil that previously appeared on individual task number badges has been removed. Use Renumber in the Display menu (list view) to reassign numbers across the board.

Engagement Board

• Inline task numbering (list view, auditors only): hover over a task or request's index number to reveal an edit icon. Type a new number and a preview shows exactly which tasks will shift before you confirm; press Escape to cancel without saving.
• Renumber all (list view, auditors only): a new "Renumber" option in the Display menu reassigns sequential numbers to every task and request in the order they currently appear on screen. A preview dialog shows every change before anything is written.

CoAudit Excel Add-in

• Review any cell, cited or not: Validate and Flag now work on any cell — including cells with no attached evidence — from the ribbon buttons, keyboard shortcuts, or the in-pane verdict controls. Useful for values you've checked by eye and want to sign off on. Clearing a verdict-only cell removes the record entirely with no leftover trace.
• Clear keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+C (Windows) / Option+C (Mac) now clears a review verdict from the selected cell or range, completing the Validate/Flag/Clear keyboard shortcut set. Works whether the spreadsheet grid or the task pane has focus.
• Simpler engagement-switch confirmation: re-linking a workbook that has existing citations to a different engagement now shows a single, clearly-labeled button instead of two overlapping options — making the consequences easier to understand before confirming.

Engagement Settings

• External ID: auditors can now set or clear an External ID on any engagement — a unique identifier used to connect the engagement to an external integration. The field saves automatically when you move away; a conflict with an existing ID in your firm shows an inline error.

Fixes

• The Skills introduction callout can now always be closed: the close button, pressing Escape, and clicking outside the panel all dismiss it immediately, even if the network is slow.

Performance

• Notification emails are delivered more consistently. A recurring issue that occasionally caused digest emails to be delayed has been resolved.

New Features

Native keyboard shortcuts for Excel review

• Validate (Alt+Shift+V / Option+V on Mac) and Flag (Alt+Shift+F / Option+F on Mac) are now registered as native keyboard shortcuts in Excel — they work whether the spreadsheet grid or the CoAudit task pane has focus, so you never need to click back into Excel to stamp a verdict

Smarter CoAudit write approvals

• When CoAudit writes to cells in multiple passes within a single response, later writes back to those same cells auto-approve — you no longer see a redundant approval prompt for cells CoAudit already wrote earlier in the same turn

One-step engagement switch for cited workbooks

• When you try to link a cited workbook to a different engagement, the refusal now includes a Delete citations & reset workbook data button — a two-step confirm that wipes all citations, imported document groups, and the engagement binding in one action, then automatically continues the switch; cell values and formatting are never touched

Lassoed evidence becomes the default citation

• Lassoing or citing new evidence onto an already-cited cell now promotes the incoming citation to the primary (the one that opens when you click the cell) and demotes the prior one to supplementary — previously the original citation stayed primary regardless of what was added; if the cell's value write is blocked (e.g., a protected cell), the prior primary is automatically restored

Features

• Higher-capability AI at Max reasoning. For eligible users, selecting the Max effort level in the CoAudit AI model picker now runs on a more powerful model — no extra menu entries or separate option to find. The picker looks the same; the Max rung silently upgrades the engine for those with access.

• Write approval dock in web chat. When the AI pauses to ask for your approval before writing to a workpaper cell, the confirmation now appears as a full-width dock anchored to the message composer in the CoAudit web interface — the same consolidated experience previously available only in the Excel add-in.

Bug Fixes

• Saved model preference holds while the picker loads. A chat conversation saved with a specific AI model no longer briefly switches to a different model (or another chat's preference) while the available options are loading on re-open — it waits for the correct model to resolve and then restores your saved choice.

• Multiple Excel workbooks no longer interfere with each other's sign-in. Opening Punchcard in more than one workbook simultaneously no longer causes the workbooks to share or overwrite each other's sign-in state; each pane signs in and operates independently.

• Save As in Excel preserves add-in context. Saving your workbook under a new filename no longer causes the add-in to lose track of which workbook it is attached to — the connection carries over correctly after the rename.

What's new

Skill library now available in the Excel add-in

Firm-saved and personal saved prompts are now accessible directly from the CoAudit pane in Excel. Browse your firm's authoring conventions, invoke prompts with @-mentions, or save new ones — without switching to the web app.

Approval controls redesigned for clarity and speed

Several improvements to how CoAudit presents pending actions for your review:

• "Approve all" now settles every pending action in one click. Previously, certain actions (file deletions, moves, patches that merge cells or clear evidence) were excluded and required one-by-one handling. They're now included. What each action will do — "merges cells," "clears evidence," "clears reasoning" — is stated in plain text on each row and in the strip summary so you know exactly what you're authorizing before clicking. All confirm buttons are consistently blue; the nature of the action is communicated in words, not button color.

• Each pending action has its own quick Approve button. Alongside the existing Skip button on each collapsed row, a matching Approve button lets you settle individual actions without expanding the card.

• Clickable cell-reference badges show where CoAudit will write. Each pending write displays cell-reference pills (e.g., "B5:D12 · 18 cells"). Clicking one selects that range in your workbook so you can inspect the target area before approving — nothing changes until you confirm. When any pending write lacks a sheet qualifier, all badges become plain text so a navigation click can't accidentally retarget a waiting write to the wrong sheet.

• Applied-writes summary after each AI turn. Once CoAudit finishes writing, an "Applied N cells in M writes" line appears with clickable badges for each range — a quick way to see and navigate to everything that just landed.

• Approval cards no longer get permanently stuck. On some machines, reading the workbook before showing the Approve/Decline buttons could stall indefinitely, leaving the card unresponsive with no way out. After a short wait, decision buttons now become available regardless, with a clear note describing what approving will do.

Performance

• Citations highlight faster after CoAudit writes. When CoAudit fills in multiple cited cells at once, all citation highlights now resolve together in a single request rather than sequentially. On a heavily cited grid this is the difference between highlights appearing in seconds versus a minute or more.

• Workbook writes complete faster for large batches. CoAudit now groups multiple cell writes, format loads, and container saves into fewer Excel round-trips. Larger workpaper fills — especially those spanning many rows or columns — complete noticeably faster.

Bug fixes

• Numbers now land as numbers. When CoAudit writes a value like "5000," it now correctly becomes a number in Excel — picked up by SUM formulas, sortable, and format-aware — rather than text that formulas skip.
• Dates written to date-formatted columns become proper Excel dates. A date string written to a column already formatted as a date (or declared with a date format) now converts to an Excel date value — sortable and formula-compatible — rather than quote-prefixed text.
• Lasso dates from Excel sources write as proper date values. When you Lasso-select a date from an Excel or CSV source, the captured date now writes to your workbook as an Excel date in your locale's format, rather than as a text string.
• No more false "overwrites existing data" warning for dates. CoAudit was incorrectly flagging a write as destructive when re-sending a date that already matched what was in the cell. Re-sending the same date is now correctly recognized as a no-op.
• Import retry stays available in the Files view. The option to retry a failed document import was disappearing when you were on the Files tab; it now remains accessible.
• Current view is preserved when importing context. Importing a context no longer navigates away from whichever view (Files, Documents, Viewer) you were on.

CoAudit: Approve multiple AI-proposed changes in one step

When CoAudit proposes two or more changes to your spreadsheet — for example, filling in a schedule or populating a set of fields — those changes now appear as a compact, scrollable list instead of stacked individual cards.

• "Approve all" stays pinned in view: A summary strip anchored at the bottom of the list shows how many writes are pending and how many cells are affected ("3 writes · 12 cells · one click covers all"). It stays visible regardless of how many items are in the list — only the rows above it scroll.
• One-click approval for routine writes: Click Approve all to accept every standard value write in a single step. Each item in the list can also be expanded individually to review the before-and-after detail and approved or skipped on its own.
• Before-and-after always visible on expand: Opening a collapsed change row now reliably shows what the cell currently contains and what CoAudit will write — this preview was hidden in certain cases before.
• Bulk approval waits for full disclosure: The Approve all button only becomes active once every change that touches an existing cell value has fully loaded its before-and-after preview. You can only bulk-approve changes you have actually been shown.
• Changes that can't be undone stay separate: Any action that permanently removes data — such as clearing audit notes or evidence — is excluded from Approve all and appears as its own item labeled "needs review," requiring an individual decision.
• Clearer button style: The button to approve a routine data overwrite is now blue, consistent with standard confirm actions. Red is reserved for changes that permanently delete or clear content.

Excel workbook chat reliability

• First message in a new workbook chat now behaves correctly: Sending your first message right after opening a workbook chat could previously result in each approval appearing one at a time with pauses in between, instead of all together. This is now resolved.

New Features

• Document search now works in Excel and Word files — a search button in the viewer header opens the same tiered search panel for Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, and Word documents that was previously available only for PDFs. Exact text matches surface with neighboring cell context (for spreadsheets) or surrounding lines (for PDFs), and semantically related results appear in a "Related by Topic" section below. Scope your search to the open file, its document group, all files in the task, or your full engagement library.

• "Cite" draw mode — a new Cite option in the draw mode menu lets you annotate which part of a document supports a cell value without overwriting the value itself. Lasso remains available when you want to extract text directly into the cell.

• My Engagements header stays pinned while scrolling — on the home page, the "My Engagements" title and filter chips now pin to the top of the screen as you scroll through your engagement list, so your selected filters and engagement count stay visible at all times.

• Navigate to any document directly from the viewer — the filename at the top of the document viewer now opens a full list of every document group in the task, letting you jump to any file without returning to the file explorer.

Improvements

• Excel files render with full formatting — Excel (.xlsx) files now display frozen panes, merged cells, conditional formatting, charts, and images as they appear in the original spreadsheet. Files up to 100 MB are supported. CSV files use a dedicated grid viewer.

• Zoom controls and sheet tabs in Excel and CSV viewers — zoom in/out and sheet navigation (for multi-sheet workbooks) are now available directly in all spreadsheet viewers, consistent with the PDF viewer.

• "Lasso" replaces "By Individual Cell" in the draw mode menu — the draw mode previously labeled "By Individual Cell" is now called "Lasso," matching the terminology in the Excel add-in.

Bug Fixes

• European-format dates display and export correctly — dates written in day-first format (e.g., "10.07.2023" meaning 10 July) now appear and export correctly when your firm is configured for DD.MM.YYYY. Previously, ambiguous dates with a day value of 12 or under could show the day and month transposed, both on screen and in exported files.

• Clicking cell references in the Excel add-in no longer jumps the spreadsheet's selection — in the Excel add-in, clicking an inline cell reference in the reasoning panel now marks that reference as "Viewing" and shows an explicit "Open →" button for navigation, rather than silently moving Excel's active cell.

• Drawing over very large areas now shows a prompt instead of freezing — selecting an oversized region with Lasso, Cite, or Sum now shows a message asking you to draw a smaller range, instead of causing the viewer to become unresponsive.

• Draw modes no longer accidentally capture unintended regions — Lasso, Cite, and Sum no longer commit evidence when clicking column headers, chart areas, or viewer controls; only intentional cell selections are captured.

Workpaper — MATCH Column Improvements

• Edit MATCH cells directly: Double-clicking a classic MATCH cell now opens an inline editor so you can type a correction when the matched value was misread or left blank.
• Lasso corrects MATCH values: Drawing a selection box over the correct text in a document now replaces a MATCH cell's value with the selected text — the same way it works for other column types. Useful when a matched source value was misread and you want to point at the right region.
• Format control for MATCH and Table columns: The display format selector (number, currency, date, plain text) is now available on classic MATCH columns and Table columns, so you can fix how values are displayed without re-running extraction.
• Pasted integer columns display without forced decimals: When you paste a column whose values are all whole numbers (invoice IDs, reference codes), it now defaults to plain number display instead of showing unnecessary decimal places.

Files — OCR Visibility and Control

• Extraction method badge on the Text tab: Each file in the Text tab now shows a small labeled badge indicating how its text was extracted — Text (fast recognition), OCR (thorough optical recognition), or Native (built-in document or spreadsheet text). Hover the badge for a description. Helps you spot files that may need a thorough re-run when text coverage is poor.
• Choose fast or thorough when re-running OCR: The re-run option in the file menu is now a two-choice submenu — Text Recognition (fast) uses the default extraction path; Optical Character Recognition (thorough) forces a deeper scan for PDFs, images, and Word documents. The thorough option only appears for file types it actually supports, so it can no longer be applied to spreadsheets or plain-text files where it would erase existing good text.

Bug Fixes

• European decimal amounts now parse and sum correctly: Values like "768,15 EUR" (comma as decimal separator) were being misread as a thousands-grouped number and corrupting column totals. These amounts now display and sum correctly regardless of the format tag on the column.
• Format changes reliably revert when a save fails: If a column format change could not be saved, the displayed format now reverts to the last confirmed value rather than getting stuck on an incorrect intermediate state.
• Financial Statement Review: Math items you confirm as passing now correctly leave the Needs Review queue instead of remaining listed.

Engagement Exports

• Export ZIP folder structure now mirrors your board's row grouping. When you download engagement files as a .zip, the folder layout matches however your board is currently grouped — by category, assignee, priority, or status. If your board is grouped by assignee, the zip arrives with one folder per assignee; switch to category and you get category folders instead. Requests with no value for the active grouping (unassigned, no category, etc.) go to the zip root. If the board is set to no grouping at all, all requests land at the root with no subfolders. Both the auditor "Files + Workpapers" export and the client "Files" export follow the same rule.

Financial Statement Review

• Back-to-review shortcut in the Files browser. Opening the Files browser while a document is already under active review no longer leaves you stranded. A back-arrow button now appears in the browser header; clicking it returns you immediately to the document you were reviewing without having to navigate through folders and re-select it. The button disappears automatically if the file under review is deleted.

Notifications

• Auditor activity digests now show only client-initiated activity. Auditor digest emails now include only what clients have done — status changes, file uploads, and comments by client users. Activity between auditors is no longer included, keeping the digest focused and actionable. Client digests are unchanged.

CoAudit Add-in (Excel & Word)

• Faster, smoother sign-in. After completing sign-in, the add-in moves directly into the review surface with no white gap or unresponsive button in between. For brand-new accounts where your access role is still being granted, the add-in now self-heals within a couple of seconds rather than showing a "Checking sign-in…" screen for up to a minute.
• Improved sign-out on desktop. Signing out from the ribbon now shows a branded "You've been signed out" confirmation inside the add-in before returning to the sign-in screen. The session is properly closed on both Mac and Windows — identical behavior to signing out on the web.
• Word add-in loading screen. The Word add-in now displays the same branded loading experience as the Excel add-in while a document is loading, replacing a blank or partially-rendered state during slow opens.

Evidence viewer — image files

• Photos and screenshots open at a readable size — image files now display at a comfortable width in the evidence viewer, matching how PDF documents look. Previously, a high-resolution phone photo could render far too large to read, while a small screenshot could appear too small.
• Portrait photos display upright — photos taken in portrait orientation now appear correctly in the viewer instead of landing on their side.
• Citation highlights and lasso boxes land on the right region — when you draw a lasso or CoAudit places a citation on an image file, the highlighted area now aligns with the actual content. Previously, highlights on image files were positioned far outside the visible page.
• In-document search highlights work on image files — when CoAudit searches within an image, matching regions are now highlighted in the correct location.
• TIFF files show a clear explanation — opening a TIFF file in the evidence viewer now displays a message explaining that this file type cannot be previewed inline, with a prompt to download the file instead of showing an error.

Excel and Word add-in

• Workbook references display a link chip — when CoAudit's reasoning includes a reference to a cell or range in the workbook, it now shows a small "↗" chip next to the linked value, making it clear the reference is a live workbook link rather than plain text.
• Hovering a workbook citation card moves Excel's selection — moving your pointer over a workbook citation in the cell detail panel temporarily highlights the referenced cell or range in the spreadsheet, making it easy to see where the citation points. When you move the pointer away, the selection returns to where it was.
• Hovering a citation does not dismiss active error messages — briefly moving the pointer over a workbook citation no longer clears an error message that was already visible in the panel.
• Citation ledger stays accurate after CoAudit updates reasoning — when CoAudit rewrites a cell's reasoning, the citation list in the detail panel now reflects only the references in the updated text. Removed references are cleaned up automatically; the panel no longer accumulates outdated entries over time.
• New users no longer get stuck after signing in — auditors signing in to the Excel or Word add-in for the very first time no longer encounter a "sign out and back in to finish" screen. The add-in now waits silently for your account to be fully recognized and proceeds automatically.

Workpaper sampling

• Monetary Unit Sampling shows guidance when no numeric columns exist — if you choose Monetary Unit Sampling for a population that contains only text columns, the Amount Column selector now shows a clear message explaining what is needed and how to proceed, instead of displaying a blank dropdown with no options.

Features

• Settings tab on the board: Engagement settings are now a Settings tab in the board header, sitting alongside Requests and Tasks. Clicking it opens the settings panel in place — team management, engagement variables, board visibility, and all other configuration is accessible without navigating away from the engagement. Any saved bookmarks or links to the old settings page redirect automatically.

• Excel add-in — engagement history empty state: The engagement history panel now displays a clear message when no prior sessions exist, rather than appearing blank.

Bug Fixes

• Settings tab always visible for auditors: Auditors who had previously viewed an engagement in client mode could sometimes find the Settings tab hidden or inaccessible. This is now resolved — the tab appears consistently based on your account role, regardless of how you last viewed the engagement.

• Clients page error recovery: When an unexpected error occurs on the Clients page, you now see a Try again button that reloads the page, rather than a dead-end screen that only offered sign-out. Also fixed a display issue where the access management panel showed "undefined" instead of a team member's name or email when a client had no associated engagements.

• Accurate engagement counts: Engagement counts shown on client rows and in the sidebar were sometimes inflated by internal system entries. These counts now reflect only real engagements, so what you see matches what's actually there. The same internal entries no longer appear in client lists or the Office add-in engagement picker.

Private Requests

• Auditors can mark any request private using the lock icon in the request's property row. Private requests are hidden from clients unless they are explicitly granted access.
• A per-request access panel lets auditors toggle each engagement client on or off — granting or revoking their view of that request without affecting other tasks or other auditors.
• Clients who have been granted access see a "Private" badge on the request. Clients without access don't see the request at all, including in document search results.
• Document search now respects request privacy: searching within an engagement no longer returns files from private requests to clients who aren't on the access list.
• Auditors are never restricted by request privacy — any engagement auditor always has full access regardless of the privacy setting.

CoAudit Add-in: Workbook Citations

• Hovering a workbook cell reference in CoAudit's reasoning now peeks that cell's document evidence in the viewer — the same behavior as hovering a document citation. Clicking commits the view and lights the citation card "Viewing."
• A new "Open →" chip on workbook citation cards navigates to the referenced cell in Excel directly.
• Viewing and Peeking indicators now appear consistently on both document and workbook citation cards and their matching inline pills, staying in sync as you hover and click between them.
• Whole-column and whole-row range references (e.g. E:E or 28:30) now correctly find and open evidence when any cell in the range is cited.

CoAudit Add-in: Smarter Viewer Navigation

• When you're working in full-screen CoAudit chat and select a cited cell, the add-in now asks whether you'd like to open the document viewer — rather than switching automatically. The prompt dismisses on its own if you navigate to a different cell, clear the citation, or ignore it for a few seconds.
• Pressing the Viewer tab or Viewer ribbon button while the prompt is showing accepts it and opens that cell's evidence directly.
• Selecting an empty or uncited cell while in full-screen CoAudit no longer disturbs your chat context at all.

CoAudit Add-in: Region and Updates

• A region selector now appears inline next to the "Sign in to Punchcard" button. Reviewers routed to the wrong cluster (US vs. EU) can switch before attempting a login, instead of completing a failed sign-in first.
• If a new version of CoAudit is deployed while your pane is open, an "Update available" notification appears with a Refresh button. The pane never reloads automatically — you choose when to pick it up.

Bug Fixes

• Stale add-in UI after updates: Users occasionally saw outdated CoAudit screens even after reopening Excel or Word. The add-in now always loads fresh when opened, and a mid-session update notification handles the in-between case.
• Financial Statement Review crash: The FSR route occasionally hit a repeating error that displayed a "Try again" button that immediately re-crashed. The error is now identified correctly and a clear, non-repeating message is shown instead.
• Fixed a flicker where moving the cursor from a citation card to its action button ("Open →" or "Set primary") briefly cleared the Peeking indicator.
• Inline citation pills in the evidence and contra-evidence sections of CoAudit's reasoning now show the correct Viewing and Peeking state, matching the behavior of the main rationale section.
• The document viewer no longer occasionally paints over the CoAudit chat column when switching between full-screen and side-by-side layouts.

Excel and CSV Evidence Citing

Lasso, Cite, and Sum now work on Excel and CSV source files in the Office add-in, not just PDFs and images. When the active source document is a spreadsheet, each tool draws on the underlying cell values — so the precision you see in the source workbook is exactly what gets captured, with no OCR involved.

• Sum on a spreadsheet selection inserts a signed formula (e.g. =1000+250-300) into the target cell, keeping the arithmetic transparent in Excel's formula bar. If a selection contains more than 200 numeric cells, the tool declines with a clear message rather than silently using a partial figure.
• Lasso on a single spreadsheet cell writes the workbook's exact underlying value — the actual number behind a formatted display such as a percentage or a rounded figure.
• Date-formatted cells are automatically excluded from numeric operations regardless of how they display.

Lasso Numeric Accuracy

Several improvements make Lasso more accurate when interpreting values from PDF and image sources:

• Accounting-style negatives — parenthesized amounts like (500) and currency-prefixed variants like USD (500) — are now correctly written as negative numbers.
• Space-grouped numbers common in European documents (e.g. 1 043,50) are recognized as numeric rather than treated as text.
• Prose containing digits (reference codes, names with numbers) is no longer misread as a numeric value and written into the cell.

Citation UI Improvements

• Inline citations and the Citations ledger stay in sync: hovering an inline citation pill in the Reasoning section highlights the matching card in the Citations ledger, and hovering the card lights up the inline pill — both surfaces always reflect the same state.
• "Viewing" takes priority immediately: when you click a citation to commit the evidence viewer to it, the card badge switches to "Viewing" right away, even while the pointer is still resting on the card.
• Hovering a citation in Reasoning peeks the source in the evidence viewer after a short pause rather than showing a pop-up card — consistent with how the Citations ledger cards already behaved.

PDF Search

Pressing Enter in the PDF search bar now advances to the next result instead of restarting the search from the beginning. Shift+Enter moves to the previous match.

Fixes

• Citation drawing errors are now always visible — if the details panel was closed when a drawing was refused, the error was hidden; it now appears in all panel states.
• The workpaper Run button no longer gets stuck disabled after an automation finishes or when a run was started from a different session; it recovers automatically.
• Large file deletions now complete reliably — files with extensive OCR data could previously time out during deletion, leaving the file apparently stuck.
• Deleting a workpaper column with many values no longer fails for large columns.
• Multi-file ZIP downloads now place all files at the top level of the archive correctly, regardless of special characters in file names.

New in the Excel Add-in

• Inspectable sum formulas in the formula bar. When you use the sum lasso to cite and total values, the add-in now writes a live formula (e.g., =1000+250−300) to the cell instead of just the computed result. The arithmetic stays visible and verifiable directly in Excel's formula bar.
• Download files from the Files panel. The Files panel now includes a Download option in the bulk-actions menu. Select one or more evidence files and download them as a single zip — no need to leave the task pane or switch to the web app.

Fixes

• Mac Excel downloads now save correctly. Selecting a file and clicking Save in Finder sometimes completed without writing anything to disk. Downloads now land on disk reliably on Mac.
• Downloaded zips now extract on Windows when file names contain special characters. Evidence files with names like Q1: revenue?.pdf or Windows-reserved names now extract cleanly on Windows machines instead of failing silently at extraction.
• Duplicate file names in a zip are no longer dropped. When multiple selected files share the same name, each one is now preserved in the zip with a disambiguated name.
• Download failures now surface an error message. Previously, if a download encountered a problem, nothing happened and no feedback was shown. You'll now see a clear error so you know to try again.
• Sum cells with very many operands no longer get stuck. In rare cases where a citation list was too long to fit as a formula, the cell could be left with a stale formula that Excel refused to accept. It now falls back to showing the correct numeric total instead.

Excel Add-in

New and improved

• Hover to preview citations without losing your place: Moving the pointer over a citation card in the evidence panel now shows a transient document overlay. Your current document's scroll position, zoom, and search state stay exactly as you left them — the preview simply appears on top. Move the pointer away and it disappears. Clicking a card still permanently navigates the viewer to that citation. The "Peeking" label on the hovered card confirms which preview is showing.

• CoAudit notices when you edit cells between turns: When you change workbook cells after a CoAudit message, the next reply automatically includes context about which ranges changed. CoAudit can reason about your edits without you needing to explain them — useful for sessions where you're working through the spreadsheet alongside the AI.

• Approval cards now lead with the AI's intent: When CoAudit proposes a write action, the card's headline is the AI's plain-language description of what it's doing — for example, "Fill in the recalculated March totals." The full cell-by-cell detail is still available and still runs behind the scenes to power the Apply button and safety checks, but the card face gives you the summary at a glance. Top-level approval prompts appear over the message input, not nested inside the conversation.

• "Copy info for support" in the chat menu: The ⋯ menu in the CoAudit chat header now includes a Copy info for support option for all users. Clicking it copies a formatted diagnostic summary you can paste directly into a support email.

Fixed

• White text on CoAudit-authored table headers: When CoAudit wrote header or total rows in a spreadsheet, the result was sometimes white text on a white background — unreadable. Header and total rows now use a proper blue fill with white text, matching standard table styling. Review-state highlights on cited cells are always preserved and unaffected by table formatting.

• Workbook cross-references in reasoning now render correctly: When CoAudit's reasoning references other cells or ranges in the workbook, those references now appear as clickable pills — click to select those cells, hover to preview them. Previously they appeared as raw syntax in the text.

• Cells cited from the workbook no longer show "No match found": Cells whose evidence comes from other cells in the workbook — for example, a "Traced – agree" conclusion citing figures from elsewhere in the spreadsheet — no longer incorrectly display the red "No match found" banner.

• Selecting a cited cell opens evidence immediately: Switching to a cited cell while the Documents list or a bulk-selection view was active now navigates directly to the citation evidence, without prompting you to confirm.

• Excel pane no longer flickers on open: Removed the visible screen flicker that occurred when opening or resizing the task pane on Windows desktop Excel.

• Reasoning in the evidence panel is read-only: The click-to-edit reasoning field and "Add reasoning" button have been removed from the cell detail panel. CoAudit writes and updates reasoning through its own tools; the panel now displays it as read-only text. Inline citation links and workbook cross-references in the reasoning remain interactive.

Chat

• Status indicator hidden when everything is healthy: The connection status dot in the message composer footer now only appears when a problem is detected — amber when reconnecting, red when disconnected. When all connections are working normally, the indicator is not shown.

Financial Statement Review

Reliability

• Fixed a crash on direct page navigation: Going directly to a page URL (rather than navigating within the app) could crash the sidebar in some situations. This is fixed.

Excel Add-in: Conversation and Navigation

• Workbook conversation memory: CoAudit in Excel now automatically resumes your last conversation each time you reopen a workbook. Each workbook maintains its own independent conversation thread — opening two workbooks side-by-side keeps two separate, unentangled chats.
• Conversation history popover: The chat header now shows the current conversation title. Clicking it opens a date-grouped history list (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Older) covering conversations from both Excel and Word sessions for the engagement — so moving between your workpaper and a Word narrative shows one combined timeline.
• Viewer breadcrumb navigation: The file and folder labels in the document viewer header are now clickable pickers. Clicking the filename shows the other files in the same group so you can switch without going back to the Files tab; clicking the folder label opens the full document group browser to jump anywhere.
• Manage Document Groups opens in a wider separate window: Instead of taking over the task pane, the Document Groups manager now opens in a dedicated window with more room to work. On workbooks not yet linked to an engagement, the window includes an engagement selector so you can link and start importing without leaving it.
• Citation links open the viewer reliably: Clicking a numbered citation reference in an Excel add-in chat response now consistently opens the document viewer at the cited page and highlights the relevant passage — even when the Files tab was previously open.

CoAudit Chat

• Citations are always on: The toggle for enabling or disabling PDF citation highlights has been removed. When document context is present, citations are always active — no switch to manage.
• Workbook write approval cards show changes by default: When CoAudit asks for approval before writing to the workbook, the full list of cell-by-cell changes is now shown immediately so you can review exactly what will be written before confirming.

Skills

• All users can change a skill's audience: Non-admin users can now switch a skill's visibility between Personal and Firm. Previously the audience selector appeared interactive but did nothing for non-admins on existing skills. Promoting a skill to the firm still requires a confirmation step; the Punchcard-wide global option remains admin-only.

Bug Fixes

• Citation highlights work for possessives and apostrophes: Citation highlights now correctly resolve for words like "employees'" and "participants'" as well as contractions. Previously these could fail to highlight or land on an unrelated passage in the document.
• Task descriptions no longer cleared on open: A bug that could silently overwrite a task's written description the moment the task page opened has been fixed. Task descriptions now load and display without risk of accidental erasure.
• Smoother sidebar transitions in the Excel add-in: Opening, closing, expanding, and collapsing the document sidebar no longer causes a brief blank flash. Content remains visible throughout the transition.

CoAudit works in Office on the web

The CoAudit by Punchcard add-in now works in browser-based Excel and Word — opened through office.com, SharePoint, or OneDrive. Previously, signing in through the Office web app would result in a redirect loop; the add-in now authenticates correctly in browser-hosted workbooks, giving you the full CoAudit experience without needing the desktop app.

• When sign-in cannot complete — for example, in private or incognito windows, or in browser configurations that block third-party cookies — a clear "Sign-in could not complete" screen now explains the issue and provides a Try again link, instead of a confusing browser error page.

Excel add-in: recovery when Office stops responding during load

If Excel refuses or stops responding while the CoAudit pane is starting up, the pane now detects the failure within 15 seconds and shows a recovery screen instead of staying blank.

• The recovery screen names exactly which step failed and whether Excel refused the request or stopped responding — so you know what happened and what to do next.
• The screen confirms that your citations and sign-offs in the workbook were not changed.
• A Try again button re-runs the complete pane startup so you can recover without restarting Excel.
• While waiting, a CoAudit chat opens beneath the recovery screen so you can continue asking questions even when the workbook is temporarily unreachable.

Fixes

• On shared Office profiles, signing out now clears CoAudit chat history so the next user starts from a clean state rather than seeing the previous user's conversation.

Features

• Redesigned Citations panel in Excel: The cell detail panel now shows a numbered Citations ledger — each source appears as a card with a document group › file breadcrumb, the full quoted text, and status chips. You can reorder cards by dragging the ordinal handle or using arrow keys, and designate any citation as the Primary — the one that opens automatically when you click a cited cell. Workbook cross-references appear as their own cards, showing the live cell address and a live preview on hover.

• Value-first inline links in Reasoning: AI-authored reasoning now renders cited values as clickable, underlined links (for example, "$1,234,567") that jump directly to the relevant page in the source document. Hover over a workbook cross-reference in the reasoning text to preview the referenced cells; click to navigate to them.

• Browse the full document group tree when uploading files: Dropping files into the Excel add-in now opens the complete engagement document tree so you can pick any group as the upload destination — or create a new task or group on the spot. Dropped files appear immediately as in-progress rows under the chosen group, a live counter shows how many have uploaded ("2 of 5"), and the surface auto-closes and lands you directly inside the uploaded group once processing is complete.

• Create a new task from the document management surface: A new icon in the document group manager lets you add a task without leaving the surface.

Improvements

• Copy-paste now carries reasoning: Copying a cited cell and pasting it elsewhere now brings the full reasoning text along with the citations. Previously only citations transferred, leaving any inline references in the reasoning with nothing to resolve against.

• Evidence cleans up when you edit cells: Deleting a cell or pasting over a cited cell now automatically removes its citations and reasoning so no orphaned evidence lingers. Editing a cell's value in place leaves its evidence untouched.

• More reliable processing for complex Financial Statement Review files: Files with a large number of sections are no longer prone to timing out during processing.

Bug Fixes

• Moving cited cells no longer destroys their evidence: Cutting and pasting a block of cited cells now correctly relocates the citations and reasoning to the destination instead of deleting them.

• Failed uploads no longer lock the document picker: If an upload fails, the document picker recovers immediately and becomes fully usable again.

What's new

CoAudit connection status indicator

A small status dot now appears in the CoAudit chat composer, next to the model picker. It shows at a glance whether CoAudit is connected (green), reconnecting (amber), or unreachable (red). Hovering the dot reveals which service is affected and how much time remains on your current session. The dot only appears once the session is active — it won't show on the login screen or when no task is open.

Improvements

Excel and Word add-in — more resilient sessions

The CoAudit pane now handles session expiry and brief connection drops without requiring a manual sign-out and sign-in. All connection types inside the pane — chat, automations, citation lookups, and progress updates — automatically re-establish themselves when the session refreshes or a connection drops mid-use. A transient server hiccup also no longer ejects the pane to the system browser with a forced login; the add-in now holds in place and shows a manual sign-in option instead.

PDF citation highlights in the add-in pane

When CoAudit cites a source document in the Excel or Word pane's chat, the cited region now highlights reliably in the evidence viewer. Previously, citation lookups in the pane could fail silently, leaving highlights missing and causing CoAudit to re-quote the same passage repeatedly.

Bug fixes

Workpaper column type — "Set as Testing Attribute" now saves correctly

Changing a workpaper column's type to Testing Attribute (or any other type from the column menu) now persists correctly. Previously the change appeared to apply but reverted silently — reopening the column menu showed the original type as if nothing had changed.

My Engagements

The home page now opens to a My Engagements panel listing every active engagement you belong to, ordered by most recent activity. Each row shows:

• Attention indicators — overdue tasks, outstanding requests, and unanswered client questions, with the age of the oldest item so you know where to focus first.
• Completion progress — the percentage of the engagement's work marked done.
• Last-activity chiclet — who acted last (Team or Client) and a relative timestamp; a pulsing dot marks activity within the past hour.

Three filter chips narrow the list to engagements needing your attention, ready for review, or due this week. A text filter narrows further by client or engagement name without leaving the page.

Activity tray — clicking a row's chiclet expands an inline panel showing recent activity for that engagement. Attention items appear at the top so you can see exactly what is waiting; the rest of the activity stream follows, with "Show more" to load further history. Clicking a viewable document in the stream opens it directly in that task's file viewer.

Excluded files in the CoAudit Excel add-in

A permanent Excluded bucket has been added to the file list in the CoAudit Excel add-in. Right-click any file and choose "Exclude from this workbook," or drag it onto the Excluded section, to set it aside for this workbook's test only:

• CoAudit cannot see excluded files — the AI cannot list, read, or cite an excluded file while it is in this bucket.
• The exclusion is workbook-local: other workbooks, other team members, and the web app all see the file normally.
• Right-click an excluded file and choose "Restore to workbook" to undo the exclusion at any time.

Manage Document Groups — search, removal, and inline creation

The document group overlay is now called Manage Document Groups and handles the full lifecycle in one place:

• Groups already in the workbook arrive pre-checked — unticking a group queues it for removal; pending adds and removals are applied together when you save, with a confirmation step before any removal takes effect.
• Create groups inline — a ＋ New group button under each task creates a group immediately, ready to rename in place.
• Search — type to find groups by name (matches from the first character) or search document contents (3+ characters, semantic). Matching groups are highlighted in the tree; a results sidebar shows file-level snippets and snippets from within pages. Keyboard navigation (‹ ›) steps through all hits.
• Delete from the context menu — right-click a group to permanently remove it (if this is its only home) or detach it from this task only (if other tasks also hold it). A two-stage dialog shows exactly what will be affected before you confirm.

CoAudit approval cards dock above the chat input

Approval cards in the Excel add-in now appear directly above the chat input instead of covering the entire pane. Each card opens with a plain-language sentence from CoAudit describing what it is about to do — for example, "Fill in the recalculated March totals." When a write would overwrite existing data, a single Replace existing data button shows the number of affected cells; the decision is one click, not two.

If you switch to Documents or the viewer while an approval is pending, a slim notice remains visible with a "Show CoAudit" link to return and answer it.

File deletion shows who uploaded each file

When deleting files from the document manager, the confirmation dialog now lists files grouped by uploader — your own files first, then other team members alphabetically. Uploaders affiliated with a client organization are marked with an asterisk (*) so you can see whose files are in scope before confirming.

CoAudit add-in renamed

The Excel and Word add-ins now appear in Office as CoAudit by Punchcard, and the ribbon tab is labelled CoAudit (previously "Punchcard"). No other behavior has changed.

Pane width remembered

The CoAudit pane in Excel now remembers the width you last set and restores it the next time you open the pane, including after reopening the workbook.

Bug fixes

• Financial Statement Review — fixed a crash that could occur on the review page when navigating between tasks. The page is now stable under all workflows.
• Excel add-in pane layout — clicking a cell no longer rearranges a Documents view you had deliberately navigated to; the pane only adjusts automatically in cases that make sense given your last action.
• CoAudit writes — multi-line values written by CoAudit no longer automatically turn on text wrapping; wrapping is only applied when CoAudit explicitly chooses it for a column where it makes sense (such as narrative or comment columns).

Excel Add-in

• Open and start working immediately — no engagement link required at startup. The Excel add-in no longer blocks you with an engagement-link prompt when you first open a workbook. Chat, citation review, and cell work are all available right away with a slim banner you can act on when you're ready. Features that need an engagement (like importing documents) will ask you at the moment they're needed, with a short explanation of why.

• File deletions now include a short undo window. After confirming a file deletion, the rows disappear immediately and an Undo button appears for a few seconds. Clicking Undo cancels the deletion completely. The confirmation dialog now also clearly states that deletion removes the file from the entire engagement — including the web app — and that citations pointing to the deleted file will stop resolving.

• The Settings (gear) button now opens the engagement-link flow on an unbound workbook, giving you a proactive way to attach without waiting for a feature to prompt you.

• Ribbon buttons now close the pane when pressed a second time. Pressing CoAudit, Viewer, or Documents while already on that view closes the pane. Pressing a different ribbon button navigates directly to that view without extra steps.

• Document groups browser shows all tasks and groups in an expandable tree. The Add Document Groups picker now displays the full engagement tree at once — tasks expand to show their groups, groups expand to show a read-only file preview — rather than requiring you to drill into one level at a time.

• Clicking a file in the document manager opens it beside CoAudit. On wider panes, clicking a file in the document list now opens the document side by side with CoAudit, rather than replacing the chat view.

• Fixed: CoAudit no longer falsely reports that a range selection was cancelled. A bug caused CoAudit to say "the range selection was cancelled" even after you had successfully selected a range, prompting an unnecessary do-over. The selected range is now always honored correctly.

• Clicking a cited cell now reliably reopens the pane. Various edge cases where the pane would fail to reopen automatically after being manually closed have been resolved.

Financial Statement Review

• Prior Year: Opening balances now match their prior-year closing counterparts. In rollforward schedules (fixed-asset movements, debt, equity, and similar tables), opening-balance columns (e.g., "01.01.2025") are now correctly matched against the prior-year file's closing-balance columns (e.g., "31.12.2024"). These pairs were previously skipped entirely, leaving rollforward schedules with no prior-year tick marks.

• Prior Year: Column headings with currency units match across files regardless of formatting. Column headings that express the currency unit differently between files — for example "31.12.2024 / EUR" in one file and "31.12.2024 EUR" in another — are now recognized as the same column and correctly grouped for comparison.

• Prior Year: Category headings that span a full table page are no longer dropped. Fixed an issue where a section heading covering an entire table (common in German fixed-asset schedules, e.g., "Anschaffungs-/Herstellungskosten") was silently discarded during processing, causing the figures in that section to lose their column context and fail to match their prior-year counterparts.

• Recalculations: Add or remove individual values from AI-discovered relationships. Auditors can now add or remove operands in multiplication and division relationships detected by the AI — not just reorder them or change their operators. A change applies only to the specific cell you opened, leaving all other cells that share the same relationship template untouched.

Home

• My Engagements panel now shows per-engagement task progress. Each engagement row in the My Engagements panel now includes the number of tasks in review, tasks due in the next 7 days, overdue tasks, and a completion ratio (completed tasks out of all tasks). The due-soon count uses the same 7-day window as the suggestion chips at the top of the page.

New features

• Undo CoAudit edits, message by message (Excel add-in). Each message where CoAudit wrote to your workbook now shows an Undo from here chip. Clicking it opens a preview showing exactly how many cells will be reverted. If you've edited any of those cells yourself since CoAudit wrote them, you can skip the conflicts or revert them anyway — your choice, always confirmed before anything changes. This is not Excel's Ctrl-Z: it reverses only CoAudit's changes while leaving your own edits intact.

• Empty-cell writes auto-apply in Manual mode (Excel add-in). CoAudit no longer pauses for approval when writing to cells that are confirmed empty — changes that can't overwrite existing data go straight through. Approval cards still appear when CoAudit would overwrite a cell that already contains data, delete rows or columns, or copy to an occupied destination. Skip mode continues to apply all writes unattended. Write sessions have been retired in favor of this approach.

• PDF comment panels start collapsed. Comment annotation panels on PDFs are now collapsed by default and expand on hover, reducing visual clutter when reviewing a document with many annotations.

Improvements

• Prior Year sidebar: per-pane row navigation. In dual-pane Prior Year view, clicking an individual occurrence row now scrolls only the pane that owns it — current-year rows navigate the left pane, prior-year rows navigate the right. Group-header clicks continue to sync-navigate both panes simultaneously. Occurrences within each group are now organized under Current Year and Prior Year sub-sections so it's clear at a glance which document each figure comes from. Current-year selections highlight in blue; prior-year selections in grey.

• Recalculation formula edits now survive pipeline re-runs. When you adjust operators or reorder operands on a discovered recalculation, that edit now persists across subsequent review runs — including "Run All." Previously, edits were silently discarded the next time the pipeline ran.

• Lassoing an unreadable value now offers manual entry. When you draw a lasso around a figure that the document reader can't parse cleanly (for example, when surrounding label text gets picked up alongside the number), the calculator now presents a manual-entry field so you can type the correct value directly. Previously this returned an error with no path forward.

Bug fixes

• EU and international number formats now parse correctly. A significant fix for auditors working on German and other EU-format financial statements. Amounts like 153.063 (one hundred fifty-three thousand in German notation) now read correctly at every step — lassoing operands, creating tick marks, and running foot/crossfoot validation — instead of being misread as the decimal 153.063. The calculator also displays figures in your firm's configured number format rather than always using US separators.

• South African Rand amounts now recognized. Amounts prefixed with R (e.g., R1 043) are now correctly identified as currency figures when lassoing operands on South African statements.

• Spurious recalculation exceptions removed. A fix prevents the AI from publishing exception marks based on formulas that don't actually reference any cells in the document. Meaningless hypotheses that previously generated large numbers of false findings are now rejected before they reach the review sidebar.

• Financial Statement Review page no longer goes blank. Fixed an issue where the FSR review page could enter a state that caused it to display a blank screen, requiring a full page reload to recover.

Features

• PDF comment threads now open automatically. When you open a document with comment annotations, each thread expands below its marker without any extra click. You can still collapse or expand individual threads by clicking the yellow comment icon.

• Visual overwrite preview in approval cards. When a workbook write would replace existing data, the approval card now shows a color-coded cell grid — occupied cells are highlighted in red, empty cells are muted — so you can see exactly what will be overwritten before approving. Individual cells are clickable to navigate directly to them.

• Per-cell citations for data tables in the Excel add-in. When CoAudit populates a table of numbers, each cell can now carry its own evidence. The value and its source quote are written together in a single approved operation, without requiring a separate citation step per cell.

Bug Fixes

• "Replace existing data" button now shows the correct cell count. The button previously reported the number of operations (e.g., "1 area") rather than the number of cells actually at risk. It now shows the true count — for example, a range with 129 occupied cells reads "129 cells."

• Clearing only evidence from a cell no longer looks like a data casualty. When a workbook change removes only a citation or rationale — not the cell value itself — the approval preview no longer incorrectly lists the existing cell value as something being deleted.

• Manual approval mode now always asks before writing. Previously, writes confirmed to target empty cells would sometimes skip the approval step even in Manual mode. Approval is now correctly requested in all cases; the auto-skip behavior is limited to Skip mode and active write sessions.

• Workbook reads that fail no longer silently allow writes to proceed. If the live cell read before an overwrite approval cannot complete, an amber note now appears with a "Try again" link. No write is approved until the current cell contents have been confirmed.

• Math calculator operand values no longer obscured by a tooltip. A tooltip on the calculator's drag handle was overlapping the numbers displayed in each row. The tooltip has been removed; drag-to-reorder and keyboard reordering still work as before.

CoAudit Workbook Approvals — Rebuilt

• Per-change diffs before you approve: when CoAudit wants to write to the workbook, the approval card now shows a row-by-row breakdown — the cell address (click it to jump there in Excel), what each cell will hold after the write, the current value shown struck through when it will be replaced, and CoAudit's stated reason.
• Explicit overwrite consent on the card: if a proposed write would replace existing data, a dedicated "Replace existing data" button appears so you can authorize it directly — no need to send CoAudit back to rephrase the same request.
• Safe writes proceed automatically: when CoAudit's writes are confirmed to fill only empty cells, the approval card is skipped entirely and the changes are applied without interruption.
• Impossible patches return automatically: if a proposed write genuinely cannot be applied (for example, it targets a range or worksheet that doesn't exist), it is automatically returned to CoAudit for revision — no dead card to dismiss.
• Partial write tracking: when a batch of writes partially succeeds, the resolved card clearly reports how many changes were applied and how many were skipped, and why.
• copy_range now uses the same overwrite protection: copying a range to an occupied destination now shows the same disclosure and requires the same explicit confirmation before replacing existing content — or auto-approves when the destination is empty.

Ask CoAudit — Redesigned Choice Cards

• Click to answer: for single-choice questions, clicking an option is the answer — no separate Submit step. The card advances to the next question or completes the batch automatically.
• Skip individual questions: a Skip button on each question lets you skip just that one while still answering the rest. The ✕ at the top right dismisses the entire card at once.
• Keyboard shortcuts: press 1–9 to pick the corresponding option directly, use arrow keys to move between choices, and ←/→ to page between batched questions.
• Streaming-safe: answering is blocked while CoAudit is still generating the option list, so you never answer against an incomplete set of choices.

Invite Dialogs — Outlook-Style Recipient Picker

• Chip-and-input recipient field: type or paste email addresses and they appear as removable chips. Paste an Outlook-style recipient list ("Display Name <email>") and names are preserved automatically.
• Autocomplete from your firm directory: start typing and matching firm members appear as suggestions with their name and email — click to add without typing the full address. The field is active immediately; you don't have to wait for suggestions to appear before entering addresses.
• "Add yourself" shortcut: your own name pins to the top of the suggestion list for one-click self-enrollment.
• Clear domain validation: addresses that don't pass your firm's domain check appear as red chips; click a red chip to restore the address to the input for correction. Chips entered before the directory finishes loading are automatically re-checked once it arrives.
• Client domain advisory: inviting clients from a different email domain than your existing client members shows a non-blocking warning so you can review before sending — the invite still proceeds.

Excel Add-in Improvements

• Live selection-context chip: when you have cells selected in Excel, a chip labeled with the range address (e.g., "N17:O18 selected") appears directly above the chat composer — so you always know exactly what selection will accompany your next message. Click × to exclude it from the outgoing message without changing your Excel selection.
• Cell-detail panel for uncited cells: the bottom panel now opens for any selected cell, not only those with attached citations. Cells without reasoning or evidence show a clear "No reasoning or citations on this cell" placeholder instead of hiding the panel entirely. The panel also defaults to open.
• CoAudit asks when context is unclear: when the linked task description doesn't provide enough signal to understand what is being tested, CoAudit will ask you to describe the audit purpose before acting. Once context is established — from your messages or a detailed task — it resumes its normal proactive behavior.
• Legacy workbooks open cleanly: workbooks created with an older version of the Punchcard add-in now open without compatibility warnings unless the workbook contains actual legacy citations.

Reliability

• Large file uploads are more resilient: the platform now handles resource pressure during bulk uploads more gracefully, reducing the chance of processing errors when many files are uploaded at once.

Bug Fixes

• Invite dialog suggestion list no longer clipped: the autocomplete dropdown in invite dialogs now renders in full over the dialog content instead of being cut off at the edge.
• Templates no longer include deleted document groups: saving a template no longer captures document groups that were previously removed from the task.

New Features

• CoAudit cell references are now clickable (Excel add-in): When CoAudit mentions a cell address, range, worksheet, or named range in a response, it appears as a clickable chip. Clicking it immediately selects those cells or navigates to the referenced sheet in your workbook — no more manually hunting for the reference.

• Jump to any page in a PDF: The page indicator in the PDF viewer is now an editable field. Type a page number and press Enter to jump there directly, instead of stepping through one page at a time on long documents.

• Cleaner file match states: Files now show one of five clear review states — Needs Match, Needs Review, Flagged, Accepted, and Out of Scope — with a badge indicating whether the match was made by AI or manually. This replaces the previous lock/unlock terminology for a more straightforward review workflow.

• Unsorted files are now reachable: Files that couldn't be automatically placed into a document group now appear in a dedicated Unsorted folder in the file explorer. You can open, move, or delete them from there, just like any other file. Previously these files were invisible and inaccessible.

Bug Fixes

• Reasoning notes no longer lost in the Excel add-in: Typing reasoning notes and then clicking back into the spreadsheet — or using a ribbon action like Validate or Flag — would silently discard the draft. Reasoning is now saved before switching to a new cell or closing the panel.

• Reasoning notes also saved when the panel is closed by a ribbon command: Even when a ribbon action closes the reasoning panel while you are mid-edit, your draft is captured before the panel disappears.

• Rotated PDF pages now display correctly: Pages stored sideways in a PDF now render upright, with citation boxes, tick marks, and review overlay numbers landing in their correct positions.

• Workpaper no longer shows a blank screen on errors: A loading failure previously left auditors on an unstyled, featureless page with no way to recover. A proper error screen with a Retry button now appears instead.

• "Loading conversation" no longer gets stuck: Navigating to a task via a chat's "Take me there" link could leave the task's chat pane spinning indefinitely. The conversation now loads correctly after navigation.

• Client not-found page keeps the full app layout: Navigating to a client URL that no longer exists now shows a clear "We could not find this client" message with a Back to clients link, rather than an unstyled plain-text error that looked like a broken page.

• Workpaper Run is more resilient: If a column was deleted between opening the Run dialog and confirming, the entire run would fail with an error. Now the stale column is quietly skipped and the run proceeds. A slow or dropped connection when starting a run also no longer shows a false failure banner while the run continues in the background.

• Financial Statement Review: improved accuracy for South African number formats: Space-grouped numbers with dot decimal separators — common in South African financial statements — are now correctly extracted. Multi-group numbers in this format were previously dropped silently during matching.

• Financial Statement Review: renamed document groups now included in file classification: Document groups that had been renamed by an auditor were previously excluded from the classifier, causing files to be routed to the wrong group. Classification now uses the group's current name.

Performance

• Pages load faster: The JavaScript delivered to your browser is meaningfully smaller — primarily by reducing the code bundled for syntax highlighting in CoAudit chat responses. Pages should feel snappier, especially on first load or on slower connections.

CoAudit Chat

• Find engagements by partial client name: Searching for an engagement in CoAudit chat no longer requires an exact match. Typing a short or partial name now finds the correct client automatically.

Office Add-in

• Create a new task directly from the document group destination chooser: When adding a document group, the destination picker now includes a "＋ New task…" option regardless of whether tasks already exist. Type a name and the task and document group are created together in one step.
• AI cell updates now complete on the first attempt: CoAudit's AI tool for writing values directly into workbook cells now works reliably. Previously it could get stuck making repeated attempts without making any changes.
• Land on the rename row after creating a group: After creating a new document group, the Add-in now brings you directly to the group's rename row so you can name it immediately.
• Duplicate group name error is now readable: Trying to name a document group with a name already in use now shows a clear, plain-language message — and keeps the rename field open so you can choose a different name right away.
• No unexpected navigation when selecting a task in the chooser: Choosing a task in the document group creation flow no longer caused the document manager to jump unexpectedly to a different location.

Evidence Viewer

• Image evidence files display correctly on first open: Opening a PNG or other image evidence file for the first time now shows the image in the correct position. Previously, a loading indicator could push the image out of view until you closed and reopened the file.

Financial Statement Review

• Fewer false exception flags: The AI layer that checks formula accuracy now rejects certain patterns that were producing incorrect flags, reducing cases where valid numbers were marked as exceptions.
• Multi-page table structures handled more accurately: Two-page financial tables — including those with multi-line header bands common in German-format statements — are now correctly identified and merged, improving the accuracy of reviewed figures.
• Text recognition in analysis workflows is more reliable: Files requiring text recognition during certain analysis runs now process correctly instead of failing silently.

New Features

• Engagement identifiers are now auto-generated. When creating a new engagement, Punchcard automatically produces a short identifier from the client name and audit period year — for example, CVS26 for a CVS Health engagement ending in 2026. If that identifier is already in use, a unique variation is generated without any extra steps. The identifier field has been removed from the creation form.

• CoAudit search in Excel and Word is fully redesigned. Semantic search is now always on — no checkbox required. Results are split into two groups separated by a divider: exact text matches at the top, and topically related mentions below. A scope selector sits directly under the search box and is always visible; choose between the open file, the document group, all files in the workbook, or the entire engagement. Cross-file hits surface as cards showing the filename, page, and a snippet, split into verbatim matches and related-by-topic. The result count row shows compact badges for related mentions and cross-file hits. A spinner inside the search box indicates when a search is still running.

• Wide multi-page financial tables are automatically joined before processing. Financial schedules that overflow across pages — where the continuation page carries only amounts with no row labels, such as German fixed-asset rollforward tables (Anlagenspiegel) — are now automatically detected and merged into a single table. Foot/crossfoot validation and AI extraction now see the complete table rather than disconnected fragments.

• Netting entries are now recognized as valid footings. The Foot/Crossfoot validator now correctly identifies offsetting entries — where two titled rows cancel each other exactly to a zero total, common in German GAAP § 246 disclosures — and validates them rather than flagging them as exceptions. The validator also prevents double-counting when a formula's operands include a subtotal alongside that subtotal's own components.

Improvements

• Reordered F/CF calculator operands now survive page reload. When you drag operands into a custom order in the Foot/Crossfoot calculator, that order is saved and restored the next time you open the calculation.

• F/CF operand reordering is now available on all standard calculation types. Drag-to-reorder was previously limited to Calculate-First mode. It is now also offered on regular row footings and column crossfootings. The drag handle has been updated to match the grip style used elsewhere in the product, and the drop indicator is no longer hidden behind the dragged row.

• The CoAudit add-in now detects your firm's data region automatically. On first use, the add-in uses your device's timezone and network signals to determine whether your firm's data is in the US or EU cluster. When signals are clear, it routes silently. When they disagree, a banner asks which region your firm uses before proceeding — and that answer is remembered permanently. If you land on the wrong region after sign-in, a "Try the other region" option appears on the provisioning screen.

Bug Fixes

• Image files (PNG, JPG) no longer get stuck on a loading spinner. Image attachments on task pages now open and display correctly. Citation highlights on image files also now appear at the correct position on the page.

• Task pages no longer crash when a file appears in more than one document group. A configuration where the same file was shared across multiple document groups could cause task pages to fail entirely for everyone on the engagement. This is resolved.

• Internal Consistency no longer incorrectly groups large numbers of unrelated zero values. IC was sometimes lumping dozens of independent zero or round-number cells into a single group even when the underlying values had nothing to do with each other. Groupings now require a shared identifiable fact before cells are linked.

• English review checklists always produce output in English. Running the Review Checklist analysis on an English-language checklist could occasionally return extracted prompts in another language (such as Spanish). The language of the checklist is now detected and stated explicitly, so output language is consistent.

Financial Statement Review

• Reorder calculation operands — drag the grip handle on any operand row to set the formula sequence that is right for your calculation. Arrow keys on a focused grip do the same. The order you set is saved with the finding.
• Enter a value not printed in the document — in Calculate-First mode, type a literal number (such as × 100 for a common-size percentage) without needing to draw a box around anything in the source file. Typed values are treated as constants and excluded from rounding estimates.
• Operand set stays fixed on AI-discovered recalculations — when editing a relationship the system detected automatically, the remove button now appears disabled with a tooltip explaining why, rather than being hidden. You can still adjust operators and sequence.

Excel & Word Add-ins

Attaching and changing engagements

• Bind to an engagement directly — the setup flow when opening an unattached workpaper now asks for a client and engagement only, skipping the task step. The confirm button reads "Attach to engagement."
• Change Attachment opens pre-filled — the overlay now shows your current client and engagement already selected. Update only the level that actually changed.
• Switching to a different engagement clears previous documents — re-linking to a new engagement removes document groups from the old one so your Documents panel reflects the new scope immediately.

Document manager

• Groups appear at the top level — the Documents panel now lists your document groups directly, without having to open a task folder first. The originating task appears as context on each row.
• Import multiple groups in one step — check individual groups or an entire task header to select all its groups, then confirm in one action. Groups already in the workpaper appear as "Added" rather than offering a tick.
• Remove a group from this workpaper — the group menu now includes a "Remove from this workbook" option that detaches the group without deleting it. Files remain available to other workpapers.
• Empty groups say so — a document group with no files now shows an explanatory message and an Upload button instead of appearing as blank space.
• Files cited from other sources remain visible — documents your workpaper has cited that live outside its imported groups appear as a read-only entry, so you can still open and reference them.
• Client request groups fully manageable — document groups tied to client request tasks can now be renamed, deleted, and used as upload targets in the add-in.
• Uploading into a new engagement works immediately — if the engagement has no tasks yet, the upload flow now offers to create the first one in the same step rather than discarding your file selection.

CoAudit chat

• Unified conversation history across Excel and Word — the chat history panel shows all your conversations in the current engagement regardless of which add-in started them. Moving between an Excel workpaper and its Word narrative shows one combined history.

Sign-in

• Unverified email shows a clear next step — if your account email has not been verified, the add-in now shows a specific, actionable message and a "Check again" button rather than a generic error.

Reliability

• Selecting cells no longer jumps the scroll position in Excel — an issue where Excel scrolled back to the selected cell after you had scrolled away is fixed.
• Ribbon buttons recover automatically from brief failures — temporary update failures now retry on the next action without requiring a reload.

Partner API

• Retry-safe sampling submissions — include a request.id field in your POST request to make it idempotent. Submitting the same identifier again updates the existing sampling task rather than creating a duplicate, equivalent to a manual resend. The response echoes back the identifier you sent. Omitting request.id preserves the original behavior where each POST creates a new task.

Bug Fixes

• FSR tasks open on the review page from the breadcrumb menu — clicking a Financial Statement Review task in the top navigation breadcrumb menu previously landed on the task overview. It now opens the review page directly.
• Opening a task with @mentions no longer shows "Save failed" — a formatting step that ran when loading a task was incorrectly treated as an unsaved edit. This no longer triggers a save attempt or an error notification.
• Task overview errors no longer affect the rest of the workspace — if the overview panel encounters a problem, it now degrades locally rather than replacing the entire work area with an error screen.
• Lasso and cite work for all same-firm auditors — auditors from the same firm who were not explicitly listed on a task could not lasso or cite evidence in the add-in. This is fixed.
• Annotating a document no longer closes it — using lasso, cite, or Sum on a freshly opened document no longer dismissed the document while the operation was in progress.
• Review sign-offs show the actual reviewer's name — on workpapers bound to an engagement without a linked task, sign-offs now identify the reviewer by name correctly rather than showing a generic placeholder.
• All cited files appear in workpapers with many citations — workpapers citing a very large number of files now correctly display the full set.

Features

• Redesigned Excel and Word add-in layout. CoAudit chat is now the default view when you open the task pane — no extra click required. The document viewer and file manager live in a collapsible right sidebar. On wider panes, both panels appear side by side with a draggable divider; on narrower panes, dedicated controls let you switch between them. The sidebar's width is remembered across sessions.
• File sorting and grouping in the Document Manager. A new display-settings control (gear icon) in the file toolbar lets you sort files by date added (newest first, the default) or by name, and — when inside a document group — group files by citation status or text-recognition status so you can focus on what still needs work. If any files have failed text recognition, the gear shows a red badge and the first menu item takes you straight to those files.
• Clear guidance for unprovisioned accounts. If you sign in with an account that isn't yet connected to an audit firm, the add-in now shows a plain "Welcome to Punchcard" screen explaining what to do, with a Check again button (provisioning can complete while the pane is open) and a sign-out option — instead of a working-looking interface where every action silently failed.

Bug Fixes

• Non-admin workbook attachment now works. Non-admin users can now attach a workbook or document to an engagement from the add-in — the form was previously locked and gave no indication why.
• CoAudit "Conversation too long" shows immediately. When a chat grows too large to continue, the error appears right away instead of after several invisible failed attempts. The message and guidance remain the same.
• Scrolling in Excel no longer jumps. With the add-in open, scrolling the spreadsheet no longer snapped back to the selected cell.
• Word add-in notifies you when a restart is needed. If a ribbon action stops responding because Word needs to be restarted, the add-in now shows a clear notification — instead of silently freezing all ribbon controls.
• Cite, Lasso, and Sum now open the document viewer. Activating a drawing tool from the ribbon now reliably brings the document into view, rather than landing on the file list and cancelling the draw.
• Document Manager no longer shows a previous user's files. After signing out of the Word add-in, the file tree is cleared — a subsequent user no longer sees the prior account's document groups and file names before their own files load.
• Engagement category colors are more readable. Dot colors in the engagement breadcrumb menu now use the same calibrated palette as the rest of the product — several shades that were previously too light to read against their backgrounds have been corrected.

CoAudit Chat

• Choose your AI model and effort level: A compact dropdown in the CoAudit chat footer lets you select which AI model to use and how deeply it should reason — from fast responses to more thorough analysis. The platform's recommended setting for most audit tasks is pre-selected. Your choice is saved per conversation and restored when you reopen it; switching between chats restores each conversation's individual setting. Models that are temporarily unavailable are shown as disabled rather than hidden.
• Conversations that grow too long now explain what happened: When a conversation reaches a length the AI can no longer continue from, CoAudit surfaces a clear inline message — "This conversation has grown too long for the model to continue. Start a new chat to keep going — the messages here are saved." Your full conversation history remains accessible from chat history.
• Conversations that stop responding now tell you why: If CoAudit completes several turns without producing a response (typically because the conversation has grown very long), it now surfaces a "This conversation has stopped responding" message with guidance to start a new chat. Nothing is lost — all prior messages are saved.

Workpaper & File Handling

• Files in Financial Statement Review stay where you put them: A bug was causing files uploaded to a specific document group in Financial Statement Review to be automatically re-routed to a different group. Files now land and stay in the document group you chose — FSR never applies automatic sorting.
• Automatic file sorting is now targeted: Drag-and-drop auto-sorting only activates when you aim at a designated upload target — a row's Unsorted cell or the corner task-level cell. Dropping files elsewhere on the workpaper page no longer triggers auto-routing.
• Dropping a file on an empty area of the page no longer navigates away: Previously, dropping a file outside a recognized upload target could cause the browser to leave the workpaper and open the file directly. This no longer happens.

New

Drop files anywhere on the Workpaper — they sort themselves

Drag files onto any row in the Workpaper table to upload and attach them to that specific selection. Drop files anywhere else on the page and each file is automatically sorted into the best-matching document group — no manual assignment needed. A new "Unsorted" column on the right side of the table tracks files as they process, with a per-file status popover showing progress and an option to remove files that couldn't be matched. The reference-file panel now only expands when you deliberately hover the paperclip icon, so dropping files anywhere else on the page always goes to the auto-sort flow.

CoAudit can answer questions about your audit data

The CoAudit chat assistant now has direct access to your audit portfolio. Ask "show me all overdue tasks," "what's the oldest outstanding client request?" or "find tasks assigned to me in this engagement" — CoAudit queries your clients, engagements, tasks, activity log, and workpaper comments to answer. Available in both standalone chat and task-embedded chat.

Financial Statement Review: footing and recalculation in one unified procedure

Footing (sum checks) and Recalculation (multiplication and division checks) are now presented as a single "Recalculation" procedure in the sidebar and cover sheet. Draw your operands as usual — the system detects the operation type automatically and routes the result to the correct check. Your firm's existing footing glyph applies to all results. The Manage Tick Marks dialog no longer shows the now-redundant duplicate entries from before the merge.

Financial Statement Review: dedicated "Add a comment" button

A new message icon in the PDF toolbar puts you directly into comment-placement mode — click any spot on the document to start a thread, without navigating through the tick-mark picker. Previously, adding a standalone document comment required going through the tick-mark flow, and in math-validation mode it was not possible at all. Standalone comments are now visible and accessible across every sidebar mode.

Improvements

• Engagement Settings empty states are now clickable — "Add your first category" and "Add your first variable" now open the creation form when clicked. Previously they looked like buttons but did nothing.
• Activity stream file names open the viewer — clicking a file name in a task's activity feed now opens that file in the document viewer. Deleted files remain as plain text.
• Activity feed updates after file changes — uploading or deleting a reference file now refreshes the activity stream immediately, without requiring a full page reload.
• Archived engagements display correctly — engagements in Archived status now show as "Closed" across the client list, engagement table, and sidebar, rather than appearing as "Planning." Archived is also now a selectable option in the engagement status picker.
• Financial Statement Review outputs in the document's language — tick-mark notes, group labels, and analysis text now match the language of the financial statement being reviewed. A regression had been causing English-document output to appear in Spanish or German for many files across multiple firms.
• FSR accuracy improvements for German and EU-format statements — Financial Statement Review now correctly skips index pages, asset registers, and other appendix tables rather than flagging their entries as financial exceptions. Single-column numeric tables in EU decimal format are now correctly extracted and validated.
• FSR navigation after confirming a result — after confirming a footing or recalculation result, the sidebar now correctly advances to the next item in sequence, including sibling relationships on the same cell (such as both a row sum and a column crossfoot on one number).
• PDF viewer controls always respond — the zoom, page navigation, and fullscreen controls now respond to clicks even when the toolbar has faded from inactivity. Hovering them brings the toolbar back.
• @mention comments always save — if a notification email to a mentioned colleague can't be delivered, the comment saves successfully regardless. Previously a delivery failure would cause the whole comment to appear to fail.
• "Paste from clipboard" shows a loading indicator — the paste button in the sampling table now shows a spinner while waiting for clipboard permission, so it no longer looks unresponsive during the browser prompt.
• Citations in AI responses render correctly — inline citations in CoAudit responses now display properly even when some references can't be resolved, and unresolved placeholders no longer appear as stray characters in the message text.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a hang that could occur when selecting a match on certain workpaper files — the action now responds quickly rather than waiting several minutes before failing.
• Fixed an issue where navigation could freeze for users with Cyrillic, Asian-script, or emoji characters in engagement or task names.
• Fixed large documents occasionally failing to complete text recognition when multiple documents were being processed at the same time.

Office Add-ins — Redesigned Review Panel

• Citation details now appear in a docked bottom panel below the document viewer, so the source document and your review notes are visible at the same time. Toggle the panel open or closed with a button in the pane controls, drag the divider to adjust its height, and the add-in remembers your preference across sessions. The panel works the same way in both Excel and Word.
• Validate and Flag are now available directly in the panel — no need to reach for the ribbon for single-citation verdicts. Unreviewed citations show Validate and Flag buttons in the bottom panel; once a verdict is set, the button becomes a status badge (Validated / Flagged) with a one-click clear option. The ribbon Review group still handles bulk selections in Excel.
• New Settings button (gear icon) in the ribbon lets you re-link a bound workbook or Word document to a different engagement or task without closing the pane. Use the familiar cascading picker to select or create a client, engagement, or task.
• Sign-in is more reliable. If Microsoft's authentication flow takes an unusual path, the add-in now detects the completed sign-in and returns to the pane automatically rather than appearing stuck. If the pane ever lands on the wrong page, clicking any ribbon button brings it back immediately.

Workpaper

• Clicking a cell now opens the correct source document. The document viewer opens to the file where the cell's primary citation is highlighted — not to a fallback file that may have nothing to do with that cell's evidence. Citations that reference a file from a different part of the engagement also load correctly.
• The collapse/expand arrow on datasource column groups now points in the correct direction after each click.

Navigation

• Browse sibling engagements from the breadcrumb — hovering the engagement name in the breadcrumb opens a panel listing all engagements under the same client, sorted by most recently updated. Each row shows the engagement's status, title, and a color-coded bar of task and request counts by status. Clicking any row navigates to that engagement while preserving your current Tasks or Requests view.
• Refreshed breadcrumb design — the breadcrumb adopts a new chip style with cleaner idle, active, and hover states. On the engagement board, the audience label ("Tasks" or "Requests") no longer appears as a trailing segment; the trail ends at the engagement name.
• Board Display menu no longer freezes the page — the column, row, and ordering settings panel now stays open while you select options from its dropdowns, and the board behind it remains scrollable. Previously, opening the Display menu made the entire page unscrollable until it was closed.

CoAudit AI

• Approval cards no longer end the AI session — when CoAudit reaches a step requiring your approval, it pauses inline and resumes automatically once you approve or decline. You no longer need to type anything to continue the AI's work after acting on an approval.
• Decline reason improves the AI's next attempt — when you decline an approval, you can optionally explain why. The AI receives your explanation and adjusts its next proposal, eliminating the need for a separate follow-up message.
• Excel add-in: approval cards stay visible across all tabs — a pending approval now appears above the chat, Documents, and Viewer tabs so you won't miss it if you switch views while the AI is waiting.
• Excel add-in: workbook operations run without interruption — the AI can now read and write workbook cells across a long authoring session without pausing between operations, making complex workbook tasks faster to complete.

Firm Library

• Contextual empty states — when a tag filter returns no results, the library shows "No documents match the selected tags." When a text search returns nothing, it shows "No matching documents found." The upload prompt appears only when the library is genuinely empty with no active filters, so filtered views no longer suggest your library is empty.
• Preview files uploaded by colleagues — firm members can now open and preview documents that a colleague uploaded to the shared library. Previously, opening another person's file showed a "Failed to load file preview" error.

File Uploads

• Bulk uploads no longer silently drop files — uploading a large batch of files at once no longer fails partway through and discards some files. A real production session had previously lost files mid-batch; this is resolved.

Workpaper Automation

• AI processing recovers from concurrent edits — if workpaper records are deleted while the AI is actively processing them, the remaining extracted results are now preserved rather than the entire batch being discarded.

Accessibility

• Screen reader labels for draw and comment controls — the comment toggle, draw line/arrow button, and split-button in the document viewer toolbar now announce their names and active states correctly to screen readers.

Excel Add-in — Workbook Authoring

• Writing to a workpaper cell now requires a single approval, not three or more. Previously, filling one cell correctly could require separate approvals for the value, the formatting, and the citation. All of these are now batched into one step, so you approve once and everything is applied together.
• AI can read a cell's current contents — including its formula, citation, and formatting — and update only the parts that need to change, leaving everything else untouched. This makes targeted corrections predictable and avoids accidentally clearing a reviewer's existing work.
• Cells you've already filled are protected from silent overwrites. If AI tries to write over a cell that contains your work, it stops, shows you what is already there, and waits for you to confirm before replacing anything. When you do approve a replacement, the confirmation card leads with a clear notice that existing data will be replaced.
• AI can now attach multiple evidence citations to a single cell. When a figure rests on more than one piece of supporting evidence — for example, a ship date and freight terms from two different lines of the same document — each source gets its own clickable highlight in the document viewer.
• When AI cites a passage it cannot locate in the source file, it now reports exactly which quote didn't match and suggests how to retry, rather than silently appearing to succeed with no highlight to click.
• The approval mode selector is now labeled Manual and Skip all approvals (previously "Ask" and "Approve All"), with a raised-hand icon for Manual and a warning-triangle for Skip, making the difference clear at a glance. The collapsed toggle shows the short form (Manual / Skip) to fit the task pane.
• File imports always require their own approval, even when a write session is active. Other workbook writes — values, formatting, citations — still proceed without interruption once a session is approved; importing a document group always shows a separate approval card.

Excel Add-in — Document Manager

• Two tabs now appear over the file list: Cited and Text. The Cited tab shows which files have evidence linked to workbook cells. The new Text tab groups files by text-recognition status — successfully processed, still recognizing, failed, and unsupported — with a red badge for failures and a purple badge for files still being processed, visible from the Cited tab so extraction problems are never silent.
• Text recognition status refreshes automatically while files are processing: every two seconds for the first 30 seconds, then every five seconds up to two minutes, then every 15 seconds. A "Check again" link appears if recognition hasn't finished within that window.
• File names appear in the Document Manager as soon as you select them for upload, with a spinner in place of the file-type icon, so you can see what is in flight without waiting for the transfer to complete.
• Drag files, folders, or ZIP archives directly onto the Document Manager to upload them. Dropping onto an open document group uploads into that group; dropping above the list opens the standard destination chooser.
• The region selector (US / EU) now appears only when needed — during sign-in or when the pane cannot connect — rather than displaying a banner on every launch.

CoAudit Citations

• Multi-word quotes now match correctly in source documents. Citing a phrase such as "Pay Date: 12/22/2025" previously failed to find a match because the quote spans multiple words in the document's underlying text, producing a full-page highlight with nothing to click. The highlight now lands precisely on the quoted text.
• Citation highlights cover the full quoted phrase, not just the first word. A three-word quote now produces a single highlight spanning all three words.
• False citation matches are prevented. A quote can no longer match text where it appears only as part of a longer phrase — for example, "Pay Date" will not highlight "Repay Dated."

Karbon Integration

• Firm admins can now connect their Karbon integration without contacting support. Previously this required a backend command run by an operator. Firm admins can now go to Admin → Integrations → Karbon and paste their Karbon access key directly. The key is verified against Karbon before being saved, so a typo cannot replace a working connection.

Financial Statement Review

Merge tables that span page breaks

• Select two adjacent-page tables in the review sidebar and choose a merge strategy: Vertical (the table continues across the break) or Horizontal (columns are split side by side).
• A live preview shows row accounting, a list of any values that would not carry over (named by amount, not just counted), and whether column headers can be reconciled — all before you commit.
• Merges are non-destructive: existing tick marks, variance analyses, and comments are preserved and carried to the merged result.
• A dashed seam line in the PDF marks where tables were joined. Undo a merge by hovering the seam and clicking Unmerge, or using the revert control in the sidebar list. Math validation re-runs automatically after each merge or unmerge.

Correct a misread presentation scale

• Every Foot/Crossfoot calculator now shows a unit chip (e.g., "TEUR", "thousands") auto-detected from the table header.
• Click the chip to correct a wrong detection — for example, changing "full amounts" to "thousands" when the statement is in TEUR. All findings in that calculation re-score immediately, and tick marks on findings whose verdict changed are flagged for recheck.
• A filled chip indicates a system-detected unit; an outlined chip means you set it manually. A "Reset to detected" option restores auto-detection.

PDF text search

• Press Cmd/Ctrl+F while viewing a PDF to open a find bar with previous/next navigation through all matches.
• In dual-pane Current Year / Prior Year view, the shortcut routes to the pane you last interacted with.
• The shortcut is not intercepted when the cursor is inside a text field such as a comment box.

AI analysis now matches the document's language

• Internal Consistency grouping labels, Foot/Crossfoot correction reasoning, and Prior Year comparison analysis are now written in the document's own language — German, Spanish, Italian, and others — rather than always in English.
• Table titles extracted during enrichment are preserved verbatim rather than translated.

Accuracy improvements

• Fewer false math exceptions: the math correction step now discards proposed total-row compositions that fail to reconcile on any constraint before flagging them. This removes a class of false exception marks on correct statements, such as the example where two unrelated line items were incorrectly marked as totals.
• Percent-change columns with negative bases: whether a "% change" figure uses a signed or absolute-value convention is now inferred from the document by majority vote rather than assumed, removing false exceptions on correctly-stated rows.
• Multi-line row labels in European-format statements — including labels that open with a currency-prefixed value like "−€1,234.56" or "€−1,234" — are now correctly joined into a single row, preventing false footing exceptions on wrapped captions.

CoAudit Chat in Excel and Word

Workbook authoring (Excel)

• CoAudit can now read and write the live Excel workbook — cell values, formulas, number formats, fill colors, merged cells, and citations — directly from the task pane.
• Ask CoAudit to build a cited workpaper schedule: it reads source PDFs, extracts figures with page references, writes values and formulas into cells, and attaches citations so each number traces back to its source page in the PDF.
• Write Sessions: approve a described block of work once ("populate the detail sheet for 26 paystubs, with citations") and all workbook writes in that scope proceed without interruption. Sharing a document group from another task still asks individually.
• Approve All: a toggle beside the Citations control grants a standing approval for the current conversation, so nothing interrupts a long unattended run. Resets when the tab is closed.

CoAudit chat now in Word

• The Word task pane now includes CoAudit chat with the same AI assistant as the web app. Citation review and source evidence are unchanged; workbook authoring tools are Excel-only.

Document group management in the pane

• Create, rename, and delete document groups from the task pane without opening the web app. A 3-dot menu on each group offers Rename and Delete, with a file count shown in the confirm dialog before deleting.
• The + tile offers two options in one click: create a new group or import an existing group from another task in the engagement.
• Empty document groups now appear immediately after creation rather than staying invisible until a file is uploaded into them.
• Files uploaded through the pane now trigger text recognition automatically, matching web upload behavior.
• Renaming or removing a shared document group from an importing task no longer affects the source task or any other task that shares the group.

Other add-in improvements

• The ribbon button that opens the citation and evidence surface is now labeled "Viewer" (previously "Review") to distinguish it from the Validate / Flag / Clear review actions.
• The import panel navigation has been simplified: the engagement name and a back chevron appear in the header rather than in the scrolling body, so the context label stays visible as you drill into folders.

Workpaper

• PDF text search: press Cmd/Ctrl+F while a PDF is open in the workpaper to search the document's recognized text with previous/next navigation.
• Removing the last client-uploadable document group now presents an explicit choice: move the task to the internal Tasks board, or keep it as a client request with no upload destination. The outcome is no longer decided automatically without input.

Reliability

• Certain files were permanently undownloadable if their name contained a space near a dot (e.g., "Report pg. 2"). These files now download correctly.
• Navigating directly to an engagement board URL could occasionally leave the page blank if a navigation attempt was dropped during load. The page now shows a spinner and retries until navigation succeeds.
• MUS formula panel: the formula result shown in the Monetary Sample Size panel now matches the formula's own arithmetic rather than the final selected row count, which could differ on small populations.
• File moves within the workpaper now complete atomically, so a move on a large file with many records no longer risks leaving data in a half-migrated state if it runs long.

Office Add-ins (Excel & Word)

• Word ribbon now matches Excel — The Word add-in ribbon now includes the same controls as Excel: CoAudit (AI chat), Sum (draw boxes across pages to total values), and Clear citations. These were previously absent from the Word ribbon, requiring workarounds.
• CoAudit / Review tabs in full-screen chat — When the AI chat panel takes the full screen on a narrow pane, tabs at the top let you switch between CoAudit and Review without navigating away.
• Cross-document search cycling — After searching across your source documents, the next/previous arrows now cycle through results from all files in sequence, opening each document at the matching location as you step through.
• Sum mode keeps drawn boxes visible — While drawing additional sum components, citation boxes already saved for that cell stay highlighted in the viewer so you can see exactly what you have already captured before adding more.
• Upload destination redesigned — Choosing where to upload files now shows a card list with an "Upload Here" button for each folder, matching the look and feel of the document import flow.

PDF Viewer

• Comments on drawn lines and arrows — Selecting a drawn line or arrow in the PDF viewer now opens the same action menu as a citation number, including the ability to add and view comment threads. Previously, drawn marks only offered a delete option.
• Sum calculator matches cell currency format — The running total in the sum calculator now uses the same number and currency format as the workpaper cell it feeds, so the displayed values are consistent.

Workpaper & Automation

• Automation conflicts give a clear retry message — When a match or automation run encounters a conflicting in-progress operation (such as a file deletion), it now fails within seconds with a clear message to retry, rather than hanging silently for several minutes before erroring.
• Manual footings are fully editable — Manually added footings in the math sidebar now support the same edits as pipeline-discovered footings: you can correct the stated result and adjust operator signs, and the verdict updates automatically when the numbers change.

Reliability

• Bulk uploads recover from brief network interruptions — Large file uploads now automatically retry when a transient network issue occurs, instead of failing and requiring a complete re-upload.
• Files that finish processing late no longer stay stuck — OCR occasionally completed after the initial wait window, leaving files in a permanent "timed out" state. These files now automatically show as ready when processing finishes.
• Deleting tasks with many files now succeeds reliably — Tasks with a large number of attached files now delete completely rather than timing out partway through.

Financial Statement Review

• More consistent table structure reading — The AI that identifies rows, headers, and columns in financial statement tables has been upgraded to a significantly more reliable approach, reducing misclassified rows and inconsistent results across successive runs on the same document.
• Improved accuracy on German financial schedules — Several patterns that caused false exceptions on German-format statements are now handled correctly, including schedules where the total column appears to the left of the detail columns, and expense or provision line items that were incorrectly flagged as subtotals.
• Footing discovery improvements — The system now correctly proposes footings for single-member section subtotals, balance-sheet identity rows (where two total rows are cell-for-cell equal), and paragraphs containing label-less totals that were previously invisible to the discovery engine.

Workpaper

• Export menu labels now match what you receive: the "Workpaper Only" and "Files + Workpaper" export options now show the correct file format — .zip when sampling reports are bundled in, .xlsx otherwise. The label and the download now always agree.

CoAudit Chat

• Feedback is now confirmed with a message: clicking thumbs up or thumbs down on a CoAudit response now shows a brief confirmation ("Thanks for your feedback") so you know your rating was recorded.
• The AI recovers from spreadsheet column name mismatches: when querying or filtering spreadsheet data, the AI now finds columns even when capitalization or spacing differs from the file's headers, and tells you the available column names when it still can't resolve one — so fewer repeated failed attempts before it finds the right data.
• Documents with spaces or special characters in their names now work correctly: files whose names include spaces, parentheses, or similar characters no longer cause issues when the AI processes or delivers them.
• Engagement variables are resolved more reliably in task chats: the AI can now look up engagement-wide variables correctly across all task types, including scenarios that previously returned an error.

Financial Statement Review

• Citation highlights now point to the correct text: an issue where a citation sometimes highlighted text in the wrong part of a page — such as a character inside a row label instead of the actual value — has been fixed.
• Fewer false exception flags on valid line items: several categories of incorrectly flagged amounts are no longer surfaced as exceptions, including roll-forward opening balances, ratio and rate rows, amounts in limit or percentage columns, and certain narrative-captioned items.
• Progress tracking during analysis is accurate: the status indicator shown while Financial Statement Review is running now reflects each step's real progress. Previously, the indicator could show outdated information during a re-run or after reconnecting.
• Analysis completes reliably after a re-run: a case where the progress spinner would hang indefinitely following a failed re-run has been fixed.

Platform

• Invite dialog shows the correct client name: the dialog for inviting team members or clients in Engagement Settings now reliably displays the correct client organization name. It previously showed "No client" in some situations.
• Library content search closes correctly when dismissed: clearing or closing a content search while results were still loading now dismisses the panel as expected instead of leaving it stuck open.
• Login restored for users with duplicate account records: a small number of users who were unable to access Punchcard due to a duplicate account record can now log in successfully.

Financial Statement Review

Group-level decisions in Internal Consistency and Prior Year Consistency

• Settling a group is now a single action. Confirming or flagging a number group resolves all its occurrences — current-year and prior-year — simultaneously. Previously each occurrence had to be handled individually, and prior-year numbers had no controls at all, leaving some groups stuck showing a partial verdict indefinitely.
• Groups display the number of occurrences they cover rather than a running reviewed/total count. Sidebar progress now tracks groups, not individual occurrences — one group is one decision.
• Each occurrence can be removed from its group independently. Every row, including prior-year rows, now has a "Remove from group" action to dispute a number's membership without changing the group's verdict for the remaining occurrences.

Recalculation: multiplication and division relationships

• Financial Statement Review now automatically detects when a value is mathematically derived from other cells via multiplication or division — for example, a margin percentage calculated from revenue and expenses, or a contributions figure expressed as a percentage of covered payroll. Tick marks are suggested when the relationship holds and flagged when the calculation does not reconcile.
• Only well-supported relationships are surfaced; proposals without enough corroborating evidence are filtered out automatically, keeping exception marks meaningful.

Number format detection per statement

• FSR now detects whether each financial statement uses US or European number formatting from the document itself, rather than always applying the firm's default. This prevents incorrect footing results when a firm audits statements prepared in a different country's format — for example, a European firm reviewing a US-formatted balance sheet.

Fewer false exceptions in Internal Consistency

• IC no longer raises exceptions on numbers that are part of an expected allocation or breakdown — for example, one expense line disaggregated across Program Services, Management, and Fundraising columns, or a list of component lines that sum to a total elsewhere on the statement. These represent expected differences, not genuine inconsistencies.
• IC group formation is more precise: each member of a group must have an individual reason to belong, reducing cases where unrelated occurrences were incorrectly grouped together.

Foot/Crossfoot validation accuracy

• The Foot/Crossfoot check now identifies more total rows across your statements and produces fewer incorrect corrections, including on statements where some formulas are genuinely wrong elsewhere on the same page.

Workpaper

• Uploads of large files are more resilient. When the initial processing request took too long to return a response, files could appear as failed even though processing was still running in the background. The upload now checks the actual processing status and updates automatically when it completes.

Task Overview

• The task overview page no longer fails to load when a category was deleted. If a task's assigned category had been removed from the engagement, opening that task would previously show an error. The page now opens normally and treats the task as uncategorized.

New Features

Client file downloads

Clients can now download all engagement files as a ZIP archive directly from the engagement page. Previously, clients could only access the Status Report — the files section was visible only to auditors. The new "Files → Download .zip" option gives clients access to uploaded evidence files and reference materials. Auditor-only documents are never included.

If any files cannot be packaged, the download will still complete and include a plain-text list of exactly what is missing, so clients always know what they received.

Improvements & Bug Fixes

Financial Statement Review

• Annotated PDF exports now open correctly in Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows. Some exports were previously flagged as corrupt when opened in Acrobat (while opening fine in other PDF viewers). This is now resolved — exports work consistently across all major PDF viewers.

Stability

• Removing or replacing a datasource while AI is actively processing it no longer fails. Users previously encountered an error in this scenario that interrupted the operation; it now completes as expected.

What's New

• Structured triage interview after automation runs: When an automation run finishes, CoAudit now opens an interactive interview instead of a block of text. The AI presents the top three to five findings as individual cards — each with concrete fix options and a "handle later" escape — and works through a root-cause sequence: are files in the right groups? are matches correct? are failures genuine or a workflow mismatch? Workpapers created from a task template get an additional note when repeated failures suggest the issue lives in the template rather than individual rows. The same interview runs when you ask CoAudit to "review my analysis," and it won't re-read data already visible in the run card above.

• Preview what the AI will write before you confirm: When CoAudit proposes writing a value to a protected workpaper cell, the approval card now shows the pending value — or Pass / Fail for a testing column — plus the AI's one-line reasoning, before you confirm. Batches show up to eight rows at a glance so you can review the recommendations rather than accepting them blind.

• Citations toggle now governs the AI's citation behavior in workbook responses: The Citations switch in the chat header controls how actively the AI cites workbook cell values. On — the AI treats citing every supported value as mandatory and finalizes citations before responding. Off — the AI cites workbook cells only when you explicitly ask. The ability to add citations is always available regardless of the setting.

Improvements

• Firm Library loads without freezing: Firms with very large libraries no longer experience the browser becoming unresponsive when opening the Library page. The list now renders only what is visible on screen, so the page is responsive immediately regardless of file count.

Bug Fixes

• Workpaper editor suggestion pickers no longer crash: The @ mention, / skill, and # assertion suggestion pickers no longer cause the workpaper editor to crash when document content is updated while a picker is open.

• Clear message when a document group name is already taken: Creating a document group with a name already in use on the workpaper now shows a specific "Name already in use" notice instead of a generic failure message.

• Sidebar updates immediately after joining or leaving an engagement: Adding or removing yourself from an engagement now refreshes the left sidebar list right away, without requiring a page reload.

• Workpaper cells save reliably when multiple changes land at the same time: Simultaneous edits to workpaper cells are now saved reliably — an edit no longer fails when another save is happening concurrently.

• Files with unusual characters process correctly: OCR output and AI responses that include uncommon text characters now save correctly instead of failing partway through processing.

• Client Organizations list is more resilient: The client list now handles brief connection interruptions gracefully, showing your clients instead of an error page.

• "Replace Rows" replaces "Replace Selection Data": The sampling split-button dropdown option has been renamed from "Replace Selection Data" to "Replace Rows" for clarity.

New in CoAudit

• Clickable citations in AI-produced Excel workbooks: When CoAudit builds an Excel workbook for you, individual cells can now include citations that link directly to the source document pages — the same click-to-open experience you get from a workpaper exported in Punchcard. Ask CoAudit to build you a workbook and it will wire up the citations automatically.
• CoAudit can now delegate complex tasks to worker agents: For requests that require reading many files and authoring detailed evidence across a large workpaper, CoAudit can now hand off that exploration to a focused worker — keeping your conversation responsive while the heavy lifting runs. This capability was previously available only to administrators; it is now part of every task-mode CoAudit chat.
• Filter workpaper rows by review state: CoAudit can now scope its reads and actions to only the rows you've flagged, validated, or haven't reviewed yet. Ask it to "look at only the flagged rows" or "re-run only unreviewed items" and it will target exactly that subset.
• Automation re-runs preserve your reviewed work: CoAudit now correctly understands that re-running a workpaper automation never overwrites cells you've already validated or flagged — so you can safely ask it to refresh the rest of the workpaper without worrying about losing your review work.
• Upgraded AI model: CoAudit chat now runs on an upgraded model with noticeably better accuracy on complex routing and multi-step tasks.

Chat & UI

• Drag folders and ZIP files into the chat: You can now drop a folder (or several folders at once), or a ZIP archive, directly into the CoAudit chat composer — all files inside are collected and uploaded as individual attachments. Previously only individual files could be dragged in.
• Scroll position stays put when the AI finishes responding: When the AI completes a reply, your reading position is no longer snapped to the bottom of the conversation. If you scrolled up to read an earlier message, you stay there. The scroll-to-bottom button becomes highlighted with a bouncing arrow to signal that a new reply is waiting — clicking it or scrolling down clears the indicator.
• Redesigned AI loading indicator: The indicator shown while the AI is generating a response is now a slim, solid bar pinned at the bottom of the conversation with an animated Punchcard mark and status text. It no longer lets transcript content bleed through behind it.

Requests

• Simplified request status labels: Client-facing request statuses are now Outstanding, Returned, Submitted, and Accepted. The button clients use to submit work is now labeled Submit Request; when a request is already submitted, it shows Return to Outstanding instead. Both auditors and clients will see a one-time announcement on the board summarizing the label changes side-by-side.

Bug Fixes

• Testing attribute name saves reliably on the memo page: Typing a name and then quickly reloading the page or closing the tab no longer silently discards the change — it now saves the moment you click away from the field.
• ZIP file previews work correctly in CoAudit chat: Files extracted from an uploaded ZIP now preview correctly in the document pane instead of showing a fetch error.
• PDF black-page recovery improved: Black or blank PDF pages are now detected and recovered from the moment a document opens, not only when navigating between pages.
• Collective workpaper columns compute correctly across multiple files: A column configured to produce one shared result across all files in a datasource group now generates a single synchronized value and applies it to every file, rather than running independently per file.

Features

• Workpaper exports match your current sort order. Excel exports — Workpaper Only, Files + Workpaper, and Table Data Only — now output rows in the exact order displayed in the grid. If you sorted by balance largest-to-smallest before exporting, the downloaded file reflects that, with row numbers renumbered to match. Your sort is also saved automatically and restored when you navigate away and come back.

• Clickable source chips in the cell panel. When you open a cell's detail panel to view the prompt or formula CoAudit used, values that were drawn from other columns now appear as highlighted, clickable chips. Click a chip to jump directly to the source cell in the grid; a back arrow in the panel header lets you return to where you started. This makes it straightforward to trace exactly which upstream values shaped a given result.

• Skill mentions appear as pills in the main chat view. When you type an @[Skill name] mention in the standalone chat, it now renders as a blue pill — matching the visual treatment in the task chat sidebar — so it's immediately clear the skill was recognized and will be applied when you send the message.

Bug Fixes

• Engagement variable form stays open after a failed save. If you try to create a variable with a name that already exists, the form now stays open with your entries intact so you can correct and retry — instead of closing as though it had saved successfully.

• Bulk file uploads recover from temporary conflicts automatically. Uploading a large batch of files at once (common in payroll workflows) no longer surfaces intermittent "Upload Failed" errors when multiple files finish around the same time. Conflicts are resolved and retried automatically in the background.

• Large PDFs no longer trigger a false re-upload prompt. Files that take 10–15 minutes to extract — such as large payroll PDFs — sometimes showed a timeout warning and prompted a re-upload even though processing was still running and would have completed. That false alarm no longer occurs.

Features

• Import Deep Analysis questions into Skills: Each existing Deep Analysis question now has an "Import to Skill" button that opens the Skills editor pre-filled with the question's content and name. The option to add new Deep Analysis questions has been replaced with a link to the Skills library — existing questions continue to run, edit, and delete as before.

Reliability Fixes

• Files still processing after upload no longer appear as failed: When a large file takes longer than expected to finish text recognition, the workpaper now shows a "still processing" notice rather than marking it as failed. The status updates automatically once processing completes, so there is no need to re-upload.

• Failed saves now revert to the last confirmed value: Across status changes, memo fields, review states, task names, and descriptions, a save that doesn't go through now reliably restores the field to the last value the server confirmed, instead of leaving it stuck in the unsaved state.

• Switching tasks no longer mixes up edits between tasks: A save started on one task will no longer affect the task you navigate to afterward. Each save stays in the context of the task where it was made.

• Review status changes now update all related items immediately: Accepting or clearing a review state on one workpaper item in a linked group now immediately reflects on the other items in that group in the same view, without requiring a refresh.

• Narrative card review badges stay in sync: Review status badges on narrative cards now consistently reflect the latest confirmed state, even when a save and a concurrent change arrive at the same time.

Features

Safeguards for files shared across workpapers

When you move or delete a file in a document group used by more than one workpaper, Punchcard now shows a confirmation listing exactly which other workpapers will gain or lose access to that file. This applies to all file-explorer entry points: menus, drag-and-drop moves, bulk moves, file replacements, and deletions.

• Activity stream awareness: file moves and deletions in shared groups now appear in the activity stream of every affected workpaper, attributed to the person who made the change.
• Real-time notices: if a colleague moves or deletes a file from a group your workpaper shares, a brief notice appears so you're aware without needing to refresh.
• CoAudit approval cards: when CoAudit moves a file between document groups, the approval card now lists which other workpapers are affected before you confirm.

CoAudit: smarter PDF-to-Excel conversion

Converting a PDF to Excel now detects when a document's layout cannot be reliably extracted — such as borderless tables or payroll reports where columns are positionally arranged rather than tabular. Instead of producing a useless single-column spreadsheet, CoAudit guides you through a stepped escalation: first upgrading the document's text recognition, then applying geometric layout analysis if needed.

A "Re-run with higher-quality text recognition" option is also now available in CoAudit for any PDF processed with the standard engine — useful when a document's tables came out garbled or collapsed into a single column.

CoAudit: citations in AI-edited workpaper cells

When CoAudit edits a workpaper cell directly in chat, the cell now renders with full citation quality: clickable document highlights, inline citation pills woven through the reasoning, and clearly separated supporting and counter-evidence. Previously, cells written via CoAudit chat showed the value and reasoning but no linked citations.

CoAudit: full citation coverage tracking

CoAudit's citation-quality check now measures against all cells that should have citations — matched document rows across all retrieval columns — not only cells where citations were already attempted. Cells that were never filled and datasources with no matched files now surface as gaps, so the coverage report reflects the complete workpaper rather than only what was attempted.

CoAudit: aggregate and group spreadsheet data

CoAudit can now sum, count, average, and group data from spreadsheet files in a single query. For example, asking "What is the total amount by vendor?" returns grouped subtotals directly, without needing to browse every row first.

Correcting auto-sorted files from the activity stream

When Punchcard auto-sorts a file into a document group, the activity stream now shows a "Correct this action" link on that entry. Clicking it navigates the file explorer to the destination group, pre-selects the moved files, and shows an inline prompt to move them — making routing corrections a guided one-step flow.

Improvements

• Testing formulas — blank cell comparisons: a formula comparing two workpaper cells (e.g. comparing an extracted amount against a budget figure) now correctly shows as failing when one of the referenced cells has no value. Previously, a blank cell could cause the comparison to show as passing (green ✓), potentially producing misleading conclusions in testing columns.
• CoAudit collective columns: when CoAudit edits a collective (merged) column in chat, it now checks all rows sharing that merged value before writing, so changes to any member row never silently overwrite the entire group.
• Financial Statement Review sidebar: the "Open a current year financial statement" prompt now only appears when a non-current-year file is already open. It was previously visible in the empty state where clicking it had no visible effect.

Bug Fixes

• Ghost file entries: files whose uploads were abandoned mid-way (tab closed, network dropped) no longer appear as broken entries in the workpaper. A file now only appears after its upload is fully confirmed on the server.
• Unsupported file types: uploading a file type Punchcard can't extract text from (such as .html) no longer fails the entire upload batch. The file is kept and available for download, with a non-blocking warning shown in the upload progress card.
• Clicking a second file cell: clicking one workpaper cell to open a document, then clicking a different cell's file count, now correctly switches to the new cell's file list. Previously the viewer stayed pinned to the first cell's document.
• Word document viewer: when a Word file fails to display (for example, an older format or a file that cannot be rendered), the viewer now offers a "Try again" button and a "Download" option. Previously it only offered a full page reload, which would fail identically for the same file.
• Memo action buttons: the delete, move, and open buttons in the Memo tab's accounting-policy and testing-attribute rows no longer flicker and become unclickable as you move your cursor from the row toward the button.
• Incomplete AI-generated artifacts: if CoAudit's environment runs out of memory while building an Excel or Word file, the incomplete file is now discarded rather than delivered as if it were complete. The failure is reported clearly so you can retry with a smaller scope.
• Accessibility: the "Select All" checkbox now correctly communicates a partial-selection state to screen readers and assistive technology when only some items in a list are selected.

Performance

• Large Excel uploads no longer freeze the browser tab. Uploading large spreadsheets previously caused the tab to lock up for a minute or more and sometimes left a file that appeared in the list but could never be downloaded. Uploads now complete in under a second regardless of file size.

AI & Sandbox

• Co-Audit Agent sandbox steps now show what they're doing. When the agent runs code to build a report or analyze data, each step is labeled in plain English — for example, "Building Excel workbook" — instead of a static spinner. The underlying code is still available behind a "View code" toggle for those who want it.
• The Stop button now immediately halts sandbox work. Pressing Stop while the agent is executing code interrupts all further steps right away rather than letting them run to completion.

Workpaper

• Circular-reference detection covers more scenarios. Punchcard now catches circular dependencies that arise when pasting data with a different column mapping, when a match relationship is auto-linked, or when a match mode is switched. When a loop is found, the warning banner displays the exact chain as clickable column pills so you can jump straight to the involved column.
• Batch run approvals now name each column. When the Co-Audit Agent queues several column-level runs for approval at once, each entry in the approval card now shows the specific column name and its document group. Previously all entries showed only the document group, making a batch of runs on the same group indistinguishable.
• Editing a deleted column now shows a clear message. If you try to update a column that a teammate has already deleted, Punchcard now explains that the column no longer exists instead of showing a generic error.

Reliability

• Extraction progress no longer flickers. The Review & Corrections panel in the chat sidebar stays steady while an extraction is running instead of flashing repeatedly.
• Financial Statement Review consistency checks are more stable. A rare scenario where two consistency rules targeted the same entry at the same time could cause the analysis to stop partway through. This is now handled gracefully.
• Logging in from multiple locations no longer produces an error. Opening Punchcard in a second tab or browser at the same time as an existing session previously triggered a server error in some cases; it now resolves cleanly.

CoAudit Workpaper

• Circular column dependencies are blocked the moment you create them: if a formula, column reference, acceptance criteria prompt, or column name change would form a cycle with existing columns, the edit is rejected before it saves — the warning banner appears immediately with clickable column badges identifying every column involved, so you can correct the issue without navigating away. Only the specific edit that would introduce the new cycle is blocked; unrelated changes and recovery edits on a workpaper that already has a pre-existing cycle proceed normally.

• Clear message when file association conflicts with a running automation: if you try to match or drop a file onto records that are currently being updated by a running automation, you now receive an actionable message — "These records are being updated by another operation. Please retry in a moment." — instead of the operation hanging silently for several minutes before failing.

Activity Feed

• Client filter now correctly scopes the feed: selecting a client organization in the activity feed filter now actually narrows results to that client's activity. Previously, choosing a client appeared to apply a filter but continued showing activity across all clients.

AI Chat

• More reliable during long or data-heavy sessions: improvements to how the AI assistant manages context across extended audit sessions reduce the likelihood of unexpected failures or incomplete responses when working through large workpapers or multi-step automations.

General

• Expired sessions redirect to sign-in: when your session expires and cannot be automatically renewed, you are now taken to the sign-in screen instead of encountering a confusing error with no clear path forward.

• Simultaneous tick mark applications no longer conflict: if two auditors apply the same tick mark at the same time, both operations now complete successfully instead of one of them returning an error.

Workpaper Match Actions

• Adding a match now appears in the grid immediately — clicking "Select Match" in the cell detail panel reflects the new association right away. Previously the grid cell stayed blank until you refreshed the page, even after a successful match.
• Removing a match from the cell detail panel now works correctly — matches cleared through the panel are actually removed and no longer reappear after a refresh.
• Moving a match that partially fails now shows an accurate result — when some records couldn't be moved because they were protected, you now see which records were kept rather than a false "Match moved" confirmation.
• Adding a match no longer causes a brief flash on the match button or flicker in the cell detail tab bar.

AI Cell Reasoning

• Cell reasoning now leads with the decisive basis — the first line states the key finding directly; each following line presents one supporting fact with its source citation. Lines prefixed with ✗ (shown in red) call out discrepancies or exceptions the AI encountered and how it resolved them. This makes it easy to scan what the AI found without reading through a paragraph of prose. Cells generated before this change continue to display as before.

Lasso & Citations

• Drawing a new lasso makes that region the primary citation — the newly drawn bounding box becomes the top citation for the cell, displacing the previous primary. Citations still referenced in the cell's reasoning text are preserved; stale ones are removed. This applies to single-lasso, sum-lasso, and citation-removal paths.
• Drawing a lasso on a match or tick column attaches evidence without changing the column's result — the pass/fail outcome or match state is preserved; only the supporting citation is updated.
• Lassoing any cell in a Collective-mode column syncs all siblings — the same value and primary citation are applied to the whole group. Each sibling keeps its own individually referenced citations.
• Fewer unresolved citation pills on complex financial statements — citations in match and testing attribute columns now reference precise locations in source documents using structural coordinates, virtually eliminating greyed-out (unresolved) pills on dense tables and financial-statement layouts.

Re-Pasting Data into a Workpaper

• You can now explicitly skip mapping a column — the column mapping step (shown when you replace workpaper data that has downstream references) now always offers a clear skip option. For match columns the default is still to remove the old column; for columns referenced by a prompt or formula, the option is available but not pre-selected, so you have to make a deliberate choice to proceed.
• The mapping step shows only when something would actually break — if every referenced column still has a matching name in the new data, the step is skipped automatically and your references carry across correctly. The step now also correctly detects when a match column depends on an entire datasource, not just a single named column.
• Unresolved columns warn rather than block — if a prompt-referenced column is left unmapped, the modal explains what will be affected (including which specific columns) and lets you continue and fix the prompt later, rather than preventing the save entirely.

PDF Viewer

• The viewer recovers automatically when the browser reclaims display resources — if a blank or black page appears due to the browser dropping the rendering canvas (common when switching between many tabs), the viewer silently remounts and restores your current page without any action on your part. A built-in limit prevents this from looping if recovery fails repeatedly.
• PDFs open faster in multi-panel views — files are fetched and cached once per session and shared across all panels that show the same document, eliminating redundant downloads when the same file is open in multiple places.

Other Fixes

• Panel resize handles are much easier to grab — the draggable divider between panels in the task view now has a wider interactive area, so you no longer need to position the cursor precisely on a 2-pixel line to resize.
• Chat accurately reports when a document isn't ready — if a file's text hasn't been extracted yet or extraction failed, the chat names the file and explains the specific status (still processing, no extractable text, or failed) instead of silently skipping it or showing a generic placeholder.
• Financial Statement Review manual footings no longer flag scaled columns incorrectly — manual footings in TEUR or "in thousands" columns are now validated using the same rounding tolerance as automated footings, so legitimate rounding residuals are no longer flagged as discrepancies.

New

• Run AI testing on exactly the cells you select: Drag to select any range of cells in the workpaper grid (or Ctrl+click individual cells), then choose Run from the right-click menu or the panel that appears. AI testing runs only on those cells — fill empty values only, or overwrite existing ones — and the confirmation dialog shows a count per document group before you commit.

• CoAudit fills cells and creates matches with reasoning and evidence from chat: Ask CoAudit to fill in a specific cell value or match a document to a row, and the result now appears with AI reasoning, supporting evidence, and clickable citation highlights in the document viewer — stamped as AI-authored so it is distinguishable from manual edits. Writing over already-reviewed or locked cells requires your approval before the change is applied.

• Switch between files when reviewing a collective cell: When a workpaper cell aggregates values from multiple files, the filename label in the document viewer header is now a dropdown listing every contributing file. Click to switch — and any citation you draw after switching is saved against the file you are viewing, not the original.

Improvements

• More citations resolve to clickable document highlights: Citations on complex financial statements now resolve to highlighted regions far more reliably, including values in non-contiguous table cells (such as a label on one row and its amount on another) and scattered multi-value fields (such as a list of dates or amounts across different lines). Previously many of these appeared as unlinked text with no highlight in the PDF viewer.

• The free-text "Something else" option is always present on AI questions: When CoAudit presents a multiple-choice question in the chat, the open-ended "Something else…" text field is now always shown — you are never limited to only the options the AI offered.

• Number and date formats always match the engagement's firm: Workpaper cell values, pasted data, and sampling imports now consistently apply the number separators and date order configured for the engagement's firm — even when your account is pointed at a different firm. Previously, a European firm's amounts could display or import incorrectly in some sessions.

• Accepted and rejected cell states update the grid immediately: Accepting or rejecting a cell value is now reflected in the workpaper grid right away, without needing to refresh the page.

• Scoped runs show only the relevant progress: When CoAudit runs AI testing on a specific column or document group rather than the whole workpaper, the in-progress indicator now lists only the items being processed.

• Auto-generated chat titles match the conversation language: When CoAudit automatically names a chat, the title is now written in the same language as the conversation.

Bug Fixes

• Citations drawn on a sibling file now save correctly: After switching to a different file in the collective cell viewer and drawing a citation, the annotation is saved against the file you were viewing — not the original file the cell pointed to.

• Fill-empty runs now reach downstream document groups after a manual match: After manually accepting a file match in an upstream document group, a subsequent fill-empty run now correctly processes the newly eligible downstream rows instead of skipping them.

Features

• AI responds in your language. CoAudit chat, cell reasoning, match agent, testing attributes, review checklists, and math validation notes all now reply in the language you write in. Write in French, get French back. English is the fallback when the language is ambiguous.

• Sampling handles European and regional number formats. Pasting EU-formatted amounts like 1.234,56 (dot as thousands separator, comma as decimal) is now recognized and parsed correctly without manual reformatting. MUS, Random, and Journal Entry threshold inputs — performance materiality, tolerable misstatement, floor amounts — also accept your firm's regional number format. Dates in day-first firms (e.g. DD/MM/YYYY) resolve correctly when the firm's format is configured; format tokens are case-insensitive, so dd/mm/yyyy and DD/MM/YYYY both work.

• Sampling PDF receipts use the firm's currency and date format. Currency amounts and dates in sampling reports now display in your firm's configured format. Currency symbols that can't be embedded in standard PDF fonts (₹, ₩, ₪, ₺, ₽, ₫) are shown as their standard three-letter codes (INR, KRW, ILS, TRY, RUB, VND) so values remain readable.

• Currency declared in source documents is preserved in the workpaper. When the AI extracts a dollar amount from a document and your firm is configured for euros, the cell now shows the dollar sign while the firm's separator style still applies. The source document's currency no longer gets replaced by the firm's display currency.

Workpaper improvements

• Multi-question AI cards now show a visible Next button. When the AI asks a series of questions, the primary button reads Next on each question (enabled once the current question is answered) and morphs to Submit on the final question. The previous keyboard shortcuts still work; the button makes the forward path discoverable.

• Arrow and Tab navigation no longer changes the file viewer or side panel. Moving between cells with arrow or Tab keys now updates the cell detail panel only. Opening the file viewer or switching the right sidebar still requires an explicit click.

• Escape key follows a clear priority order in the Workpaper. If the CoAudit chat is expanded full-screen, the first Escape collapses it. If a cell is selected, the next Escape clears it. If either side panel is open, the next Escape closes both.

• Workpaper load failures now show a Retry button. If the workpaper fails to load (for example, during a brief interruption), the page now shows a friendly message and a Retry button instead of a loading spinner with no way to recover.

• Re-run now always forces fresh results. Previously, re-running automations could silently produce no changes when the underlying data appeared unchanged. The Re-run action now always triggers a full re-evaluation.

• Circular column dependencies surface an immediate error. If two columns reference each other in a cycle, automations now fail right away with a clear message identifying the involved columns, instead of silently retrying.

• Bulk validate and flag now work correctly across multi-cell selections. Using Ctrl+click to select cells across multiple rows and then validating or flagging them in bulk now processes all selected cells, not just the first group.

• Citation highlights appear immediately after a match automation run. Clicking a citation in a freshly matched cell now highlights the correct location in the document viewer without needing a page refresh.

• Testing attribute results appear immediately after running. Pass (✓) and fail (✗) verdicts, evidence bullets, and citation highlights now appear in the grid as soon as a testing attribute automation completes, without requiring a page refresh.

• Validated cells no longer show anomaly indicator badges. Cells that have been accepted/validated no longer display the amber count badge. Rejected cells retain the badge since the anomalies are typically the reason for rejection.

• More citations now correctly highlight in the document viewer. The AI sometimes returns citations containing formatted text (HTML table markup, ellipsis spans, punctuation) that previously couldn't be located in the source document, leaving citation pills with no highlight. These citations now resolve correctly for a wider range of document formats.

Fixes

• Deleting a testing attribute in the Memo now confirms the result. If the server was unable to remove the attribute, the row is automatically restored and an error message is shown, rather than appearing deleted until the next page load.

• Sampling receipts are no longer downloaded automatically when saving. Clicking Save Data no longer triggers an immediate Excel and PDF download. The receipt is now included in the workpaper export. The per-datasource "Download sampling report" button still provides on-demand receipt downloads.

• Opening Notification Settings no longer freezes the page. Previously, opening and then closing the Notification Settings dialog could leave the page unresponsive until a full reload. This is now fixed.

• @mention suggestions no longer cover the word being typed. The suggestion popover now positions itself so it doesn't obscure the text you are typing, and the list scrolls correctly for long lists of results.

• Evidence and citation edits in the cell detail panel no longer silently fail. Editing or deleting an evidence bullet on a cell whose citation was matched from plain text (rather than a bounding box region) now saves correctly.

• Downloading a deleted file from the activity feed now shows a clear message. If a referenced file has been removed, clicking its download button now shows a "File unavailable" notice instead of failing silently.

• Double scrollbar in the chat sidebar on Windows and Linux is fixed. The CoAudit chat sidebar no longer renders its own vertical scrollbar alongside the message list's.

Skills

• First-time Skills intro: New users now see a compact, one-time prompt anchored to the chat composer's "+" button introducing the Skills feature — "Save prompts as Skills: write a prompt once, reuse it in any chat, for yourself or your whole firm." Dismissing it in any chat silences it everywhere.
• Typing / always opens the Skills picker: The / shortcut in the chat composer now opens the picker even when you have no skills yet, showing a "No skills yet" message with direct links to browse or create your first skill. Previously the picker stayed hidden entirely, leaving no path forward.

Workpaper

• Redesigned "Informed by" section: The panel section explaining how an AI-produced cell value was derived now shows a concise bullet list — one bullet per contributing document group — instead of an expandable recursive tree. Each bullet names the group and describes in plain language how that group's data shaped the result, with inline document citations you can click to jump to the supporting page.
• Value references open the source document in place: Clicking a referenced upstream value in the "Informed by" section now opens the document viewer at the page where that value came from — without navigating away from your currently selected cell. You can verify the evidence behind each input while staying in context.
• "..." file menu now matches the right-click menu: The three-dot button on each file row in the file explorer now offers the same options as right-clicking — including Move to another datasource and Undo Split for multi-segment files, which were previously available only via right-click.
• Undo Split refreshes the file list immediately: After merging a split file's segments back into a single document, the file list now updates automatically — no page refresh required.
• Document viewer recovers gracefully from rendering failures: If a file can't be displayed (for example, due to a corrupted PDF), the viewer now shows a clear message with a Try again button and a Download option. The rest of the workpaper — the grid, sidebar, and all other panels — stays fully functional. Previously, a viewer failure could take down the entire workpaper page.
• Workpaper Excel export uses hierarchical row numbers: The "#" column in exported Excel workpapers now shows the same hierarchical address (e.g. 1.1, 1.2, 2.1) as the workpaper grid view, rather than a flat sequential counter.

Co-Audit Chat

• Working indicator stays visible for the full response: The activity indicator now remains on screen for the entire duration of a Co-Audit response — including brief pauses between steps — instead of disappearing early while the Stop button was still showing.
• Escape key correctly collapses the expanded chat: When the chat panel is open in full-screen mode, pressing Escape now collapses it back to the sidebar. Previously, Escape navigated away from the task instead of collapsing the chat.

File Processing

• OCR progress updates in real time: Files being processed for text recognition now show live status updates, replacing a frozen spinner that previously gave no indication of progress.

Reliability

• Login fixed for users at organizations sharing an email domain: Users at firms where multiple accounts shared the same email domain could encounter login failures on every attempt. This is now resolved.

New: AI Skills

Skills are named, reusable sets of AI instructions you save once and reference anywhere in your audit work — a Personal skill is private to you; a Firm skill is shared with everyone at your firm.

• Use a Skill in CoAudit chat by typing / or selecting one from the "+" Skills menu in the composer. The skill's instructions are automatically included when you send — you can still add your own context before hitting send.
• Reference a Skill in workpaper automation columns by typing / in any retrieval, match, or deep-analysis prompt field. Firm and Punchcard skills are available here; the skill's instructions are applied automatically at run time across every record.
• Browse and manage all your Skills in the Skills library, opened from the "+" menu in CoAudit chat. Search by name or description, filter by Personal / Firm / Punchcard scope, and view, edit, or delete skills you have access to. Saving a change to a Firm skill shows a confirmation before it affects your whole team.
• Co-Audit can author and refine Skills directly from the chat — ask it to save the current approach as a reusable skill without leaving the conversation. Saving a Firm skill from chat requires your confirmation first.
• Sent messages display skill names as inline badges; clicking a badge opens the skill's full detail view.
• The Skills editor supports full formatting — Enter, undo, bold, italic, and list indentation work as expected.

Memo

• Testing attribute descriptions in the Memo now use the same rich-text editor as the Audit Procedure field on the workpaper — format text and include assertion references without the description reverting to plain text or showing markup on reopen.
• Co-Audit now treats Testing Attributes as part of the memo. Asking it to "complete the memo" or "fill in the memo" will include the testing attributes alongside the narrative sections, rather than treating them as a workpaper-only concern.

Request Table

• The amber acceptance-criteria badge on a failing file upload is now a clickable button that opens the system validation notes for that file directly — no need to navigate through the Files tab first.
• Auditor-internal notes written against specific workpaper values no longer appear in the shared client-facing columns of the Request table.
• When a cell contains multiple files, the warning badge now correctly identifies the specific file that failed acceptance criteria rather than defaulting to the first file in the cell.

Board

• The selection checkbox in board list view now appears when you hover anywhere on a row, not just directly over the small checkbox icon.
• Tooltips in board list view no longer clip behind the sticky row header.

Engagement Settings

• The Private engagement toggle is now clearly shown as disabled — with an explanatory tooltip — for auditors who don't have permission to change an engagement's privacy setting. Previously the toggle appeared enabled, allowed a click, and then silently reverted, with no explanation.

Bug Fixes

• Opening an engagement link you don't have access to now shows an access-denied message immediately instead of displaying a loading screen that never resolves.
• Inviting a team member or client no longer stays stuck on "Sending…" indefinitely. If there's a delay, the form surfaces an error message so you can try again.
• The task chat panel and task overview no longer go blank during certain navigation or AI-streaming transitions.
• The @-mention suggestion popup in text editors no longer causes a crash when you close a dialog while the suggestion list is still open.
• When asking Co-Audit to create a custom file in the chat, it can now load any task file using the same references it uses for reading and searching — files that were visible but couldn't be processed before will now work correctly.

Workpaper Automation

• Run size protection with guided actions: Before any automation run starts, Punchcard checks whether the workpaper exceeds safe operating limits. Oversized workpapers now show a clear, quantified notice in the run dialog — a hard block if the limit is exceeded (with a direct link to "Test a sample" via JE Sampling, or CoAudit guidance), or an amber warning that still lets you proceed when you're close to the limit. The check appears the moment you open the run dialog, before anything is submitted.
• Larger formula-only workpapers: When every column uses formulas or lookups with no AI prompts, automation can now process significantly larger datasets. Because no per-row AI cost is involved, the record limits are substantially relaxed for these runs.
• Correct column order for formula runs: Workpaper columns that reference the values of other columns now run in the right order, so dependent columns always see up-to-date upstream values rather than stale or empty ones.
• Smarter auto-matching setup: When you paste selection data or attach a document group to an oversized datasource, Punchcard no longer automatically configures AI matching in a way that would immediately be blocked when you try to run it.

Engagement Creation

• Identifier collisions are now blocked, not silently resolved: If the identifier you enter for a new engagement is already in use, submitting the form now stops and highlights the collision — with a one-click "Use [suggestion]?" button to accept the recommended alternative. Previously, submitting would silently create the engagement under a different identifier than you chose.

PDF Viewer

• Zoom buttons always work: The + and − zoom buttons in the workpaper PDF viewer no longer become stuck after zooming. Previously, certain cancelled zoom actions could leave the controls unresponsive until the page was reloaded.

Chat & AI

• Extraction results stay visible: After asking the AI to extract structured data from a document, the results table now stays visible at the top level of the conversation — including the Copy Raw Data button and clickable PDF-linked cells. Previously, these were collapsed into the "worked for N seconds" summary once the AI finished, making them inaccessible until manually expanded.
• Working indicator during background steps: In task chat, the "AI is working" indicator and Stop button now remain visible while the AI completes background steps (such as running automations) after its reply has appeared. Previously, the interface could look like a completed message while the Stop button lingered with no visible explanation.

Memo

• No more mis-routed clicks on accounting policy add: The "+" button to add an accounting policy now shows a brief disabled state while engagement variables are loading. Previously, clicking during the loading window could silently add a plain text entry instead of opening the variable picker.

Platform Reliability

• Workpaper cell values display correctly: Date, number, and currency cells in the workpaper grid now show formatted values (e.g., 01/06/25, 1,200.00) instead of raw stored values that were appearing after a recent update.
• Task creation no longer freezes: The new task and request creation form no longer becomes unresponsive after you submit it.
• Invited clients and guests log in reliably: First-time invited clients and guests no longer encounter an error on their very first login when there is a brief disruption to authentication services.

CoAudit Chat

• Grouped action approvals: When the AI requests several actions at once — such as moving multiple files into document groups — all pending approvals are now consolidated into a single grouped card. A "Preparing N approvals…" indicator appears while the AI is still working, then a single Approve all / Reject button handles the entire batch. After approval, the card shows a result summary inline (e.g., "Moved 5 of 6 files — receipt_03.pdf couldn't be moved").
• Reject with reason: Declining an approval now reveals an optional text field where you can explain why. The AI receives your note and can adjust its next steps accordingly.
• Clearer choice prompts: When the AI asks you to choose from a list of options, the card now uses distinct, clearly labeled Submit and Cancel buttons — making it easier to respond without ambiguity.

Financial Statement Review

• Sync scroll preserves your alignment: When reviewing current-year and prior-year PDFs side by side, enabling Sync Scroll now locks in whatever alignment you've already set manually, rather than snapping both panes back to identical page positions. Scroll together from wherever you left off.
• Prior-year tick mark editing: Clicking an existing tick mark annotation while in Prior Year Consistency mode now opens the full context menu — giving you the same edit and delete controls available in other review modes.
• Shift-constrained proof marks: Hold Shift while drawing a line, arrow, or double-line to snap it to horizontal, vertical, or 45° diagonal. Useful for drawing precise accounting double-underlines and tie-out arrows.

Workpaper

• Document group file uploads fixed: Creating a new document group from a client request and then uploading files into it now works reliably. Previously this could fail silently, leaving the group unable to accept files.
• Datasource rename conflict explained: Renaming a datasource to a name already used in the same task now surfaces a clear message explaining the conflict. Previously the rename would silently revert with no feedback.

Reliability

• PDF viewer recovery: The PDF viewer no longer gets stuck with unresponsive zoom controls and dead page navigation when first opened inside a panel that was collapsed or hidden. The viewer now recovers automatically when the panel is expanded.
• Excel viewer stability: Opening the Excel viewer on a file whose AI citations reference a sheet that no longer exists no longer crashes the viewer.
• Task chat stability: The CoAudit chat panel no longer goes blank when navigating between tasks in the same session.
• Team and client invite error messages: When adding a team member or client user to an engagement fails, the notification now explains the specific reason (for example, "identity provider temporarily unavailable — try again shortly") instead of showing a generic error.

What's New

• Guide link in the sidebar: A Guide link now appears under Co-Audit in the left navigation for all users. Auditors are taken to the platform guide; clients are taken to the client-specific guide. Both open in a new tab.

Improvements

• Workpaper automation progress in CoAudit chat: While a workpaper automation is running, a compact bar above the chat input shows which step is active and how many remain. A Cancel button lets you stop the run at any time. Previously, in-progress steps showed no activity indicator and could appear stalled.
• Private engagement setting is now easier to find: The option to mark an engagement as private has moved to the Overview section of Engagement Settings, where it sits alongside other engagement details rather than inside a separate options menu.
• File deletion takes effect immediately: Deleting a file now removes it right away, without the previous short delay or undo prompt.

Bug Fixes

• Board status chart now filters your task list: Clicking a status segment in the right-side panel on the engagement board now filters the board to show only tasks with that status. Clicking the same segment again clears the filter. Previously, clicking had no effect on the task list.
• Comment badges on request table files now open the comment thread: The blue badge on a file cell in the Request Table now appears only when there are open, unresolved comments — not for resolved or reply-only threads. Clicking the badge takes you directly to that file's comment thread instead of opening the file viewer.
• CoAudit formatting in task descriptions and memo sections: When CoAudit updates a task description or a memo section, the content now appears correctly formatted instead of showing unwanted markup characters.
• Activity feed filter panel no longer shows misleading counts: The filter flyout in the activity feed was displaying counts based only on the items loaded on screen, which could be lower than the true total. The counts are now hidden to avoid confusion — filtering still works as expected.
• Documents containing tables now process reliably: Some files with embedded table content were getting stuck and retrying repeatedly without completing. This has been resolved.

Performance

• Pasting and saving sample data on large workpapers is dramatically faster. On data-heavy engagements, operations that previously timed out or took more than ten seconds now complete in a fraction of that time — including both loading sample data and saving it with complex column dependencies.
• Workpaper cell edits and other workpaper actions load faster on engagements with large volumes of records, improving responsiveness across the board on data-heavy engagements.

Features

• Financial Statement Review now supports South African number formats. Firms using comma-decimal, space-grouped formatting (for example, "1 234 567,89") are correctly parsed and displayed throughout Financial Statement Review — including calculations, recalculation tolerance checks, and document matching.

Bug Fixes

• "Import Excel file" and "Copy from Request" are now available in the sampling modal when a workpaper template already has selection columns defined. Previously, only clipboard paste was offered in that state; all three entry methods are now consistently accessible.
• Pressing Escape while editing a task title now cancels the edit and restores the original title, instead of leaving you stuck in edit mode with a partially typed name saved.
• The app no longer hangs on the "Welcome Back" loading screen. An intermittent issue that prevented the app from forwarding to your engagement board on a cold load has been fixed.
• Clicking the logo or home button no longer routes to a broken page for users on certain engagements — the app now always resolves to a valid destination.
• The "Select All" checkbox in the multi-engagement client invite dialog now shows an indeterminate state when some — but not all — engagements are selected, making the current selection state easier to read at a glance.

Redesigned task workspace

The workpaper, overview, and memo pages now use a unified two-row header and a new panel layout.

• CoAudit is now a resizable left panel — drag its right edge to set the width you want; your preference is saved and restored on your next visit. Press [ to open or close it at any time.
• Files and Workflow live in a right panel toggled with ]. Both panels remember their open/closed state for the session.
• Breadcrumb navigation in the top bar leads with the Punchcard logo and shows the full client → engagement → task path, with the task's short ID in parentheses for quick reference.
• Smooth board-to-task transition — clicking a task card from the engagement board now animates the workspace into place rather than replacing the page.
• Full-screen CoAudit is still available via the expand button; press ESC to return to the split view.
• On mobile, CoAudit starts closed so the task content is visible immediately.

Workpaper improvements

• Problems panel is now resizable — drag the divider between the grid and the detail panel to set your preferred split; the height is saved automatically and restored without any flash on reload.
• Analysis findings appear at the bottom of the Problems list, below all configuration and data issues, so the most actionable items stay above the fold.
• Problems badge count now reflects only configuration and data issues — analysis findings are still listed in the panel but no longer inflate the count.

Bug fixes

• Saving a task as a template or cloning an engagement no longer fails silently when the task uses shared document groups.
• Engagement board no longer shows a blank page when following a board link that needs to redirect to the correct audience view.
• Applying the same tick mark simultaneously from two open tabs no longer produces an error — both actions now resolve correctly.
• Inviting a team member with an incorrectly formatted email address (for example, two addresses pasted together) now shows a clear validation message instead of failing.

Features

• CoAudit can now ask you a question when a decision isn't clear: at genuine decision forks — for example, whether to reuse an existing shared document group or start a fresh one — CoAudit now pauses and presents an inline multiple-choice card instead of guessing. Single-choice questions use radio buttons; multi-select uses checkboxes. You can also add a free-text note. Related questions are grouped into one tabbed card with keyboard navigation: arrow keys move between options, left/right arrows page between questions, Enter advances or submits, and Escape returns focus to the composer. Once submitted, the card dims and shows a compact summary of your answers.

Improvements

• Removing a shared document group is now clearly labeled: when a document group is attached to more than one workpaper, the confirmation dialog now reads "Remove" — detaching it from this workpaper only, leaving all other workpapers and their files intact. The permanent-deletion warning (including the amber callout that all uploaded files will be destroyed) continues to appear only when this is the last workpaper using the group.
• Category label on task cards is now a quick-edit button: clicking a task's category badge on the board or list view opens the category picker directly, the same way clicking the priority or due date does.
• Download All gives a clearer error when some files fail: when bulk-downloading reference files, the error message now distinguishes between files that are permanently gone (deleted from storage) and files that failed due to a temporary problem — so you know whether retrying will help.
• Non-previewable files show a download button instead of a blank pane: opening a file that cannot be displayed inline (such as a .txt or .csv) in the Workpaper viewer now shows the filename, a short explanation, and a Download button, rather than leaving the viewer empty with no indication of what happened.
• German income statements handle mixed TEUR and % columns correctly: financial statements that present currency (TEUR/MEUR) and percentage columns side by side now apply rounding and unit labels per column — percentage values are no longer rounded as if they were TEUR amounts in the math calculator.
• New engagement short identifier shows a usable suggestion when taken: if the identifier you enter is already in use, Punchcard now shows a collision-free suggestion you can apply in one click, instead of a static "already in use" message with no next step. (Also fixed: the availability check was incorrectly reporting every identifier as taken — this is now resolved.)

Bug Fixes

• Sample table columns no longer reverse or shuffle on re-open: columns pasted into the selection data modal now appear in the same left-to-right order on every open. Previously they could reverse each time the edit modal was opened, causing columns to appear in the wrong order.
• AI citations in the Workpaper now link to the correct source file: when CoAudit analyses a group of documents together — for example, a batch detail spreadsheet alongside a bank statement — citations now correctly link to the file the AI actually read, not always the primary document in the group. Affected workpapers include collective analyses such as three-way match engagements.
• Files uploaded in standalone CoAudit chat are always accessible: uploading multiple files at once in a standalone chat session could leave some files inaccessible, producing a permissions error when the AI tried to reference them. This is fixed.
• Engagement board shows an access error if your membership is removed mid-session: if your team membership is revoked while you have the engagement board open, the board now shows the standard "you don't have access" message instead of going blank.
• Tasks marked as client-facing now reliably appear in the client view: in certain workflows, toggling a document group to "provided by client" did not always make the owning task visible to the client. The task visibility now stays in sync whenever a client-facing datasource is configured.
• Users with accented or non-ASCII characters in their email address can now receive notifications: users at firms where email addresses contain umlauts or other non-ASCII characters (common in German-language firms) are prompted on first login to verify an alternative delivery address, ensuring they receive email notifications going forward.

New Features

• Private engagements: Mark any engagement as private from the engagement settings page options menu (⋯). A private engagement — and all its tasks — is hidden from firm colleagues who aren't explicitly named as team members. Only named members and admins can see it. The toggle updates immediately and reverts automatically if saving fails.

• Excel viewer renders cell colors and comments: The Workpaper Excel viewer now faithfully recreates background fill colors and font colors from the original file, so color-coded headers, highlighted rows, and styled tables appear exactly as they do in Excel. Cells with comments or notes show a small red triangle in the corner; hovering reveals the comment text.

• TEUR-aware math validation: The Financial Statement Review calculator now detects when a document is presented in thousands or millions (TEUR, MEUR, "in thousands") and automatically adjusts. Operand values display as integers matching the statement convention, a quiet unit label confirms the active scale, and the verdict reads "≈ Validates on rounding" when a footing passes within the tolerance band but isn't an exact tie. Column totals that appear before their operand columns — common in some European reporting layouts — are now also validated correctly.

• Plain text and RTF files can now be uploaded: .txt and .rtf files are now accepted for upload and AI extraction, joining PDFs, Excel files, and CSVs.

• Real-time identifier availability when creating an engagement: The short identifier field now checks availability as you type and shows an inline hint if the chosen identifier is already taken — for example, "ACME" is already in use. This engagement will be created as ACME2. — so you know the final identifier before submitting.

• CoAudit can link workpaper columns as engagement-wide variables: When working with the CoAudit agent on a Workpaper task, you can ask it to mark a column's extracted output as an engagement-wide variable, making those values available for reference across all tasks in the engagement.

Bug Fixes

• Excel citations now highlight the correct cell: Citation highlights in the Excel viewer now land on the right cell even when the spreadsheet has leading blank rows or columns before the data area.

• Citations on repeated values highlight one cell, not a span: When a cited value (such as "$0") appears in multiple cells of the same table row, the citation now highlights a single cell rather than drawing an incorrect band across unrelated cells.

• Page no longer freezes after closing a confirmation dialog: Clicking Cancel on a confirmation dialog — such as a file delete confirmation — could leave the entire page unresponsive to clicks. This is fixed.

• Workpaper automation correctly populates records for shared datasources: Running automation on a task that shares a datasource no longer produces an empty grid. Each task now generates its own records correctly.

• Financial Statement Review handles partial document processing more gracefully: If one section of a document encounters a problem during processing, the successfully processed sections are now preserved so the review can continue rather than failing entirely.

• CSV exports with title rows now import correctly: CSV files that begin with a report title line or blank line before the column headers — common in GL and payroll exports — are now recognized and imported correctly.

• Office lock files are rejected at upload: Temporary Office files (those beginning with ~$) are now immediately rejected with a clear unsupported-file error rather than being silently submitted for processing.

Performance

• Excel viewer opens large files faster: Cell color scanning is now limited to the visible portion of the sheet on open, so large workbooks no longer cause a noticeable delay when first viewed.

AI & CoAudit

• Files uploaded in CoAudit task chat are now auto-sorted into the correct document group as soon as they finish processing. A persistent trail in the conversation records what happened — "Uploaded invoice.pdf", "Sorted 3 files into Invoices · Bank Statements" — so you always know where your files landed, even after leaving and returning to the chat.
• Ask CoAudit to move a misrouted file: if a file ends up in the wrong group, tell CoAudit ("move invoice.pdf to the Invoices group") and it will move it without leaving the chat.
• Excel cell background colors and cell comments are now captured during file processing. Cells with color-coded classifications or embedded auditor notes in Excel workbooks are now visible to AI extraction columns.
• Excel files with formulas now show correct values instead of blanks. Formulas that previously computed to empty — common in programmatically produced spreadsheets — are now evaluated correctly.
• Chat messages with file attachments now reliably receive AI responses. A bug where certain messages appeared to send successfully but never produced a reply has been resolved.

Workpaper & Automations

• Testing attribute automations now pick up every file, including those added after the first run. Previously, files uploaded to a shared document group after you first ran an automation were silently skipped. All files are now included on every run.
• "Fill empty" reruns now correctly process all rows, including rows that were added since the previous run.
• Automations and Match Agent runs stay isolated to the correct workpaper when a document group is shared across multiple workpapers. Results no longer bleed between workpapers sharing the same document group.

Engagements & Clients

• Engagement identifiers no longer block creation or editing when already in use. The identifier field now adjusts automatically (e.g. SAND → SAND2) instead of returning an error that requires you to try again.
• Document groups created from PBC request imports are now available in the document group picker across other workpapers in the same engagement, so evidence collected for one workpaper can be reused without re-uploading.
• Creating new client organizations is faster. The New Client form now responds immediately after clicking Create instead of freezing on firms with many existing clients.

New

• Comment indicators on tick marks: A corner badge now appears on tick marks that have active comment threads — amber for unresolved comments, blue when all comments are resolved. Reviewers can spot annotated marks at a glance without hovering over each one.
• Deep Analysis controls in the Run dialog: The Run confirmation dialog now lists each Deep Analysis question with a count of pages already covered (e.g., "3 of 5 pages"). Use per-question checkboxes to include or skip individual questions before running.
• CoAudit artifacts available in personal chats: The full artifact toolkit — generating Excel workbooks, charts, and Word documents — is now available in personal CoAudit chats, not only in task-linked chats.
• Formula columns export as live Excel formulas: Formula columns in the workpaper now export as real =... Excel formulas with cross-column cell references instead of frozen computed values.

Improvements

• FSR cover sheet for all exports: The Financial Statement Review PDF cover sheet — with a clickable index of every footing and cross-footing mark — now generates for all annotated FSR exports.
• "Set as Testing Attribute" available on all columns: The option to mark a workpaper column as a Testing Attribute is now visible on all eligible attribute columns.
• Fill Empty covers partially-analyzed questions: "Run Empty" now fills missing page coverage for Deep Analysis questions that were only partially run, rather than skipping them entirely because some pages already had results.
• Workpaper exports are faster on repeat runs: Population sheets are built once when you save a sampling run and reused on subsequent exports, making repeated exports significantly faster for tasks with large data populations.
• "Paste from clipboard" gives specific feedback: The Paste from Clipboard button now shows a clear message when the clipboard is empty, when the copied content isn't recognized as a table, or when clipboard access is denied — with guidance to use Ctrl+V as a fallback.
• Column picker shows a live selection summary: The Excel import column picker now displays your current header row and column selections in real time, with clearer instructions.
• Workflow connections wired automatically: Adding or attaching a datasource from the sidebar now automatically connects it to the correct parent in the workflow diagram — no manual wiring needed.

Bug Fixes

Exports

• Large workpaper exports no longer crash: Exporting workpapers with very large data populations no longer crashes or hangs the browser tab.
• Multi-datasource exports produce valid files: Workpaper exports containing more than one datasource no longer generate Excel files that Excel needs to repair on open.
• DATE values in exports are now correct for all time zones: DATE column values in exported workpapers were showing one day earlier than expected for users in time zones at or east of UTC (UK, Europe, India, Asia Pacific). This is now fixed.

Selection Data (Add/Edit Selection Data)

• Original population preserved after sampling: Opening "Edit Selection Data" after pasting data and taking a random sample now correctly shows the full original population, not just the sampled rows.
• Row checkboxes honored in No Sampling mode: Checking specific rows when using No Sampling now imports only those rows. Previously, all rows were always imported regardless of which boxes were checked.
• Editing a table no longer creates a duplicate node: Importing an Excel file while editing an existing table datasource no longer creates a second empty node in the workflow diagram.
• Clear no longer causes an infinite loading screen: Clicking Clear on selection data no longer sometimes left the modal stuck on an endless loading spinner.
• Copy from Request imports into the correct datasource: Using "Copy from Request" while editing an existing datasource now correctly loads data into that datasource instead of creating a new one.
• Dates in pasted and sampled data are now correct: Date values entered by pasting or through the sampling wizard were also affected by the GMT+ timezone shift described above — also fixed.

Files and Matching

• Deleted files show a clear notification: Attempting to download a file that has since been deleted now shows a "File unavailable" message instead of a generic error, both on the task overview page and in the workpaper file explorer.
• Accepting a large batch of matches now works reliably: Selecting and accepting a very large number of matched files in a single action no longer fails silently.

Workpaper and FSR

• European number formats recognized correctly: AI-powered number extraction now correctly reads numbers formatted in European conventions (e.g., German financial statements where periods are thousands separators and commas are decimal separators), so those values are no longer silently dropped.
• Foot/Crossfoot re-run properly clears prior marks: Re-running Foot/Crossfoot validations now removes marks from any prior run, eliminating leftover marks in the PDF overlay that could not be clicked or dismissed.
• FSR sidebar no longer flashes "No findings yet": The Financial Statement Review sidebar no longer briefly shows "No findings yet" while results are still loading.
• Escape key closes dropdown menus correctly: Pressing Escape while a dropdown menu is open (such as the engagement breadcrumb menu) now closes the menu instead of navigating you back to the board.

New Features

• Copy data directly from another request: A new "Copy from Request" option in Import Table Data lets you populate a workpaper table by copying data from another task in the same engagement. Pick the source task, choose a sample datasource or a tabular file, then configure the header row and columns using the same picker as a direct Excel import. Both source groups ("Sample Selections" and "Table Files") are always shown with a clear indication when a group is empty.

• Pick which sheet to import from multi-sheet Excel files: When importing an Excel file that has more than one worksheet, a sheet selector now appears in the column picker so you can choose exactly which sheet to use. Previously, imports always used the first sheet with no option to change it.

Performance

• Copy from Request source picker opens faster for large files: Row counts, column counts, and column headers in the source picker now load immediately instead of re-reading the file each time the picker opens. Files with tens of thousands of rows that previously caused a multi-second delay now appear instantly.

Bug Fixes

• All worksheets are now selectable when importing older Excel files: In some Excel files uploaded before a recent update, worksheets beyond the first appeared grayed out in the import sheet picker. Those sheets are now always selectable and always show the correct preview data for that sheet.

• Citation pills scroll to the right location on the first click: Clicking a citation pill in cell reasoning now navigates the document viewer to the correct passage immediately. Some citations previously required two clicks before landing in the right spot.

• Viewer header and toolbar stay visible after clicking a citation: Clicking an inline citation pill in cell reasoning no longer causes the document filename and toolbar buttons to disappear. The header stays intact while the citation is highlighted in the document.

• Toolbar buttons stay fully visible in a narrow viewer: When the document viewer is at a constrained width, toolbar action buttons (lasso, search, and others) now remain fully visible — the filename truncates before any buttons are hidden.

• "Informed by" tree: clicking a value node navigates the workpaper fully: Clicking a value link in the "Informed by" provenance tree now moves the grid selection, cell-detail panel, and document viewer to the referenced cell together. Previously the document viewer could fail to update or show the wrong content.

• "Informed by" tree: citation pills show one highlight and scroll vertically: Clicking a citation pill inside the "Informed by" tree now shows a single highlight on the document (no duplicate outline) and scrolls straight to the cited passage without any sideways movement.

• Wide preview tables scroll horizontally in Copy from Request: The data preview on the Copy from Request confirmation step now displays a horizontal scrollbar for tables with many columns, so all column data is visible without being squeezed.

Features

Workpaper

• See what informed each AI result: When Punchcard AI fills a workpaper cell using values from other columns, an "Informed by" section now appears in the cell detail panel. Expand it to see a tree of every upstream value the AI referenced, the reasoning behind each connection, and inline citations you can click to jump straight to that location in the source document. Click any node in the tree to navigate directly to that cell in the workpaper grid.
• Excel and CSV file import now available to all users: Uploading an Excel or CSV file when adding selection data is no longer a limited rollout — every user now has access. This is especially useful for very large populations that are impractical to paste from the clipboard.

Bug Fixes

Chat

• Send button no longer stays disabled after attaching a file: After uploading a file in a chat conversation, the Send button could remain unclickable even after the file finished processing. This is now fixed.
• Chat messages containing links now display correctly: AI responses that included certain link formats could cause the entire message to fail to load. This is now fixed.

Workpaper

• OCR status indicator always visible on the Files tab: The badge showing files with pending or failed text recognition was being partially hidden behind the adjacent tab. It is now correctly positioned and fully visible at all times.
• Spurious error on workpaper open no longer appears: A "Failed to load available headers" message that sometimes flashed briefly when first opening a workpaper no longer appears.

Notifications

• Activity summary emails are no longer sent twice: Some users were receiving their activity summary email twice in quick succession. This has been resolved.

New

• Request Once, Use Many is now available to all users: Attach an existing document group to multiple workpapers without asking clients to re-submit files. The option appears in the Source section when adding or editing a workpaper column. Co-Audit is also aware of which tasks share a document group when answering questions.

Workpaper

• Date formulas now calculate correctly: Formulas that compare or subtract dates — such as computing the number of days between an invoice date and a payment date — now produce the right result instead of treating the dates as arithmetic. Both M/D/YYYY and YYYY-MM-DD date formats are recognized.
• Large Excel files process faster: Processing large Excel spreadsheets during upload is now significantly more efficient, reducing slowdowns and failures on heavy files.
• Tick mark and template audience picker is cleaner: The Global/full-site audience option is now shown only to site admins, removing a choice that had no effect for regular auditors.

Files and Workflow Panel

• Explicit close and reopen controls: The right-side panel now has a ✕ button to close it entirely. When closed, a sidebar icon replaces the folder tabs and reopens the panel to whichever tab (Files or Workflow) you had open last.
• Reopening Files preserves your place: If you had a match cell selected when you closed the panel, reopening Files returns you directly to that cell's file view and match controls — not back to the top-level document picker.

Co-Audit AI

• Extraction tools work after a page refresh: The "correct extraction" and "edit extraction" tools now continue to work after refreshing the page. Previously they would report that extraction results were unavailable — even when the data was still intact.
• Declining a navigation suggestion no longer shows an error: Choosing "No thanks" when Co-Audit proposes a navigation now records as a neutral completed step in the chat, not a red error indicator.
• AI responses and analyses are more reliable: Fixed a category of failures where AI-generated content — including chat replies and document analysis results — occasionally failed to save due to special characters in the output.

Platform

• Library file deletion is now instant: Removing a file from the firm or engagement library now completes right away, even for recently-uploaded files that could previously take an extended time to delete.
• All emails now show the Punchcard logo: Invitation emails, task notifications, comment alerts, and activity summaries now display the full Punchcard wordmark, correctly rendered without clipping.
• Uploads to new document groups now work: Fixed an issue where uploading files to a document group created with the "Create New" option could fail silently.
• App updates no longer interrupt your session: When Punchcard deploys a new version while you're working, you'll see a "New Version Available" prompt and can refresh smoothly — rather than being unexpectedly redirected to the login screen.

Workpaper Sampling

• Saving selection data now generates a PDF sampling report alongside the Excel file. Click "Save Data" after setting up a Random, MUS, or Journal Entry sample and a formatted report is produced automatically. It includes a summary table, population breakdown chart, and method-specific parameters — plus the per-test hit-count table and Benford's Law histogram for Journal Entry testing (when that test is enabled).
• Sampling reports are bundled into all workpaper exports. Every export format — Workpaper Only, Files + Workpaper (.xlsx), and Files + Workpaper (.zip) — automatically includes the relevant sampling sheets and PDF reports.
• The Benford's Law histogram is now interactive. Click the chart to expand it to fullscreen for a closer view. You can also adjust how many digit pairs are flagged as anomalous directly from the fullscreen view.
• When you reopen the selection data dialog to edit an existing random sample, your previous filter settings are preserved.

Co-Audit Chat

• Edit existing workpaper columns without deleting and recreating them. You can now ask Co-Audit to update an existing column's name, prompt, data type, or pass/fail icons — the change applies in place, preserving the column's position and history.
• Choose how AI columns analyze files per row. When asking Co-Audit to add an AI prompt column or testing attribute column, you can specify whether the AI should evaluate each file individually or summarize across all files for a given row.

File Processing

• Very large spreadsheet and CSV files now process correctly. Files such as journal entry exports with 50,000 or more rows were previously rejected as too complex to read. These files now upload and extract text successfully.
• CSV files with accented letters, special characters, or files created with European regional settings now process correctly. Files that previously failed to upload due to encoding issues will now work.

Workpaper Automations

• Running all automations on a workpaper is more reliable. A performance issue that caused automation runs to fail silently on large workpapers has been resolved.

Task Management

• Save any task as a reusable template from the breadcrumb menu at the top of any task page (auditor only). Set a name, description, visibility (Personal, Firm-wide, or Global), and tags. The dialog previews the task's structure and warns you if a template with the same name already exists, giving you the option to overwrite.
• Client users can submit their completed workpaper for auditor review from the task overview page. If the task is already in review, they can return it to To Do.

Other Improvements

• Keyboard shortcut for task search. Press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on Mac) on the engagement board to open the search bar without clicking the icon.
• Edited comments are now marked. Comments that have been modified show an "Edited" label; hovering over it shows the exact date and time of the last edit.
• Drag files directly onto the engagement library panel to upload without opening the file picker dialog.
• ZIP files uploaded to the engagement library are automatically extracted — each file inside is added as a separate document.

Tick Mark Improvements

• Combined footing/crossfooting badges in exported PDFs: When a number carries both a footing tick mark and a crossfooting tick mark, the annotated PDF now displays them together as a single badge (e.g. "F-1·CF-2") rather than printing one on top of the other. Exception marks appear before validation marks within the badge, consistent with the order shown on the cover sheet.
• Comment icon placement fixed: Comment icons in annotated PDFs now correctly sit beside wider combined tick mark badges without overlapping them.

Manual Annotation Tick Mark Controls

Clicking a lasso-drawn annotation on the PDF now opens the same context menu used by auto-detected numbers. From this menu you can apply tick marks, toggle between Suggested and Confirmed, remove an association, or delete the annotation entirely — the same controls, in the same place, for both detected and hand-drawn annotations.

Math Footing Calculator

Sign (+/−) changes now stick. Toggling a number's polarity in the footing panel would revert to the original sign on the next load. The toggle is now saved correctly.

Pressing Escape cancels a Stated Result edit. Previously, pressing Escape while typing in the Stated Result field committed the in-progress value instead of discarding it. Escape now restores the original value, as expected.

Stated Result is editable in automatic footing mode. Auditors can now correct an OCR-read Stated Result — such as a misread sign — when working in automatic mode, not only in manual mode.

European-formatted numbers calculate correctly in manual footing. Numbers using dots as thousand separators (for example, TEUR format 153.063) were misread as decimal values, producing incorrect sums. Manual footing now interprets these numbers the same way automatic mode does.

Operand order follows document reading order. Numbers in the footing panel now appear left-to-right within each row. Column crossfootings sort right-to-left across the page, matching the direction auditors naturally work.

Unreadable OCR values are clearly flagged. When document processing cannot interpret a number, the footing panel now shows an amber "Enter value" prompt instead of silently defaulting to zero — making it obvious where manual input is required.

Validation errors in the footing panel are now visible. Error messages (such as "Please enter a valid number") now appear as on-screen alerts. They were previously silent.

Reliability

Large multi-sheet Excel files now process successfully. Files with many sheets and a high volume of cells were previously causing the processing job to exhaust available memory, failing the entire upload. These files now complete processing without issue.

New

• Automatic fiscal year detection: When you run Prior Year Consistency, the pipeline now reads the cover pages of your uploaded CY and PY documents to identify the correct fiscal year automatically. This means PY Consistency runs against the right year even when the engagement's audit period hasn't been configured. If the documents don't contain a clear dating phrase, the pipeline falls back to the engagement period as before — and replaces the auto-detected period whenever you swap out the uploaded files.

• Editable "Current year end" date in Prior Year sidebar: The fiscal year-end date used for PY Consistency is now visible and editable directly at the top of the Prior Year sidebar. You can correct the auto-detected date when needed. Clearing it re-enables automatic detection on the next run, and an info tooltip explains what the date controls.

• Combined IC + PY tick marks in exported PDFs: When a number carries both an Internal Consistency and a Prior Year tick mark, the exported PDF now shows them as a single readable label (e.g., "PY-7·IC-3") rather than two overlapping marks that hide each other.

Improved

• IC groupings are more precise: Numbers are now grouped only when they represent the same financial fact — same concept, same period, and same scope. Figures that appear in adjacent comparative columns (the same line item in different years) are correctly kept as separate items rather than surfaced as potential tie-outs.

• Empty subsections show "None" instead of blank headers: In the IC, Prior Year, and F/CF sidebars, subsections with no items now display a muted "None" label. It's immediately clear that the section has been reviewed and found clean, rather than leaving an empty collapsible header that appears to have content.

• Shared document group confirmation is now inline: Replacing a shared document group with another now shows a single inline summary of what will change — including which task will handle client uploads going forward — without opening a separate modal.

• Export error files include clear next steps: When a multi-file PDF export fails for one or more files, the error file inside the downloaded ZIP now opens with plain instructions for what to do, including a ready-to-copy message you can send directly to support.

Fixed

• "Check all" and "Flag all" buttons in IC and PY sidebars now work: Clicking Check on the Consistent bucket or Flag on the Flagged bucket was silently doing nothing. Both buttons now correctly approve and confirm the relevant suggested items.

• Prior Year loading indicator no longer spins indefinitely: After running or re-running Prior Year Consistency, the loading spinner in the sidebar clears as expected once the run finishes.

• PDF export correctly reports partial failures: When exporting multiple annotated PDFs and some files fail, the notification now reads "Export completed with errors" (or "Export failed" if all files failed) instead of incorrectly showing a success message.

• "Run everything" correctly identifies columns that have never been run: The run modal now properly recognizes new custom columns that haven't been executed yet, so the option to fill empty cells is available as expected.

• Activity summary emails deliver reliably: Fixed a bug where certain removed tasks could cause the daily activity summary email to fail to send.

• Shared document group data stays isolated to your task: In workpapers using shared document groups, certain data panels now correctly show only the current task's entries rather than mixing in entries from other tasks that share the same group.

Shared Document Groups

• Smarter import flow when client requests are involved: Switching a document group to a different shared source now handles every combination of client-upload ownership with the right confirmation experience. When both the current and target groups are owned as client requests by different tasks, a dedicated dialog appears — showing which task currently handles client uploads, what files will be affected, and what happens to client upload routing — before you confirm.
• See exactly which files will be permanently deleted before switching: When switching to a different shared document group would permanently remove files, the panel now shows the exact file count upfront. The confirm button stays disabled while this check runs, so you can never accidentally confirm before the full impact is visible.
• "Import document group" toggle: The toggle in the document group editor panel is now labeled "Import document group" when the group is standalone, and "Shared document group" once sharing is active, making its current state clearer at a glance.

EU and German Document Accuracy

• Fixed: EU financial values ending in zero cents were being dropped: In EU-format tables — such as German balance sheets — values whose cents ended in zero (for example, 15.375,50 or 16.991,00) were being silently excluded during extraction. This affected roughly 30% of numbers in affected tables, causing footings to fail and numbers to appear missing. These values now extract correctly.
• Fixed: prior-year comparisons could mis-route for round amounts: A related issue caused the year-over-year comparison logic to silently treat all values as equal for certain round figures, which could misdirect reconciliations across periods. This is now resolved.
• German section references and legal citations no longer treated as financial numbers: German document markers — such as "Anlage 3", "Kapitel 5", "§ 322 HGB", and numbered headings — are now correctly excluded from financial number extraction, reducing noise in AI analysis on German audit reports.
• German fixed asset schedules no longer incorrectly combined: The system was sometimes merging separate sections of a fixed asset schedule (Anlagespiegel) that document different financial events — for example, acquisition costs on one page and accumulated depreciation on another — into a single table, dropping data in the process. These sections now remain separate.
• Fewer false inconsistency flags on comparative-period columns: The inconsistency checker was occasionally raising exception marks on comparative-period columns based solely on shared row position, even when the values are expected to differ across periods. This has been corrected.
• Improved extraction for EU headerless and multi-block schedules: Table extraction quality improved for EU-format financial statements that span multiple sections without standard column headers.

Processing Reliability

• PDFs with complex graphics now process reliably: PDFs containing many vector-graphic elements — such as diagrams or heavily formatted pages — were causing OCR processing to fail entirely for that file. These files now process normally, with all text and numbers extracted as expected.

Improvements

• Applying a template is now instant. The intermediate document group mapping screen has been removed from the template apply flow. Selecting a template and clicking Apply creates the task immediately — no extra confirmation step required.

• Email invites accept any paste format. When adding team members or clients to an engagement, you can now paste addresses in any common format: space-separated, comma-separated, one per line, or directly from Outlook ("First Last <email@firm.com>"). Invalid addresses are flagged inline before the invite is sent, so you can fix them on the spot instead of hitting a generic error after the fact.

• Foot/Crossfoot calculator lists operands in document order. Values in the F/CF calculator are now shown in the order they appear in the PDF — page by page, top to bottom — making it straightforward to trace each number back to its location in the source document.

Bug Fixes

• "Apply Valid" / "Apply Exception" no longer fails after a tick mark is removed. Re-applying a footing result to a number that previously had its tick mark removed now succeeds as expected, instead of showing a "Failed to finalize calculation" error.

• AI chat panel no longer goes blank during streaming. An issue that caused the chat panel to crash and stop rendering while a response was being generated has been fixed.

• Workpaper page is stable on long-running engagements. An issue causing the workpaper page to crash on engagements with a long activity history has been resolved.

EU Number Formatting

• European-formatted numbers are now fully supported across math validation and financial statement review. Firms using commas as decimal separators and periods as thousands separators (e.g. "1.234,56") will see numbers parse, foot, and display correctly throughout workpapers and the FSR review sidebar — previously these were misread or shown in US format.
• Multi-group European integers like "1.234.567" are now correctly recognized as whole numbers rather than being truncated.

Task Creation

• After creating a task from a template, you're taken directly to the most relevant page — the Workpaper for templates that include data sources, the Review page for document-review tasks, and the Overview for everything else. Previously, template-based tasks would sometimes drop you on the wrong page.
• A one-time "New: Reuse groups in templates" tip appears the first time you reach the template reconciliation screen, with a matching tip the first time you use "Use Existing" in the workflow sidebar. Both dismiss with a single "Got it" click.

Workpaper

• The Problems panel no longer shows a misleading entry before analysis has been run. Every new workpaper used to show a permanent informational row prompting you to run analysis — even when nothing was actually wrong. That entry is removed; the panel now only surfaces real issues.
• The Problems panel is visually cleaner: Fix with Co-Audit buttons on category rows now appear on hover (matching the per-row behavior), and the severity count badges next to category names have been removed.
• Automations run on shared document groups now show their progress and results correctly in the chat. Previously, the progress card could appear empty and results might never arrive in the chat when a data source was shared across tasks.

PDF Viewer

• The annotation drawing tool remembers your last-used color between sessions. The default color is now grey (previously red), and your chosen color is restored the next time you open a file.
• The FSR sidebar now shows "No findings yet" when no results are present, more accurately reflecting that running a test will produce output.

New Features

• Sticky artifacts bar in Co-Audit Chat: A persistent bar above the chat input now surfaces every downloadable file the AI has produced in the current conversation — Excel workbooks, Word documents, PDFs, ZIP archives, and other exports. The bar collapses to a count badge when not in use and expands to show labeled, colored pills for each file with one-click download. It stays visible as the conversation grows, so you can reach any generated file at any point without scrolling back through earlier messages.

• Draw proof marks directly on PDFs: A new drawing tool in the document review toolbar lets auditors mark up PDF pages with lines, arrows, and accounting double-underlines. Choose a stroke color from a 9-color palette — the toolbar icon tints to show your active selection. Click any mark to select it; a delete button appears for your own marks. Marks are stored per file, visible to all viewers, and included in the annotated PDF export.

Improvements

• Problems tab refreshes automatically: The Problems tab in the workpaper now updates on its own as soon as AI analysis finishes running. You no longer need to reload the page or re-run the check to see the latest results.

• Post-run fix suggestions back in action: After running automations on a workpaper, the Co-Audit assistant once again provides grouped, prioritized suggestions for the issues found — a behavior that had been inadvertently dropped in a recent update and is now restored.

• Document group removal is clearer and safer: Removing a document group from a workpaper now clearly separates "remove from this workpaper only" from "delete entirely." When you are the last workpaper using a group, the confirmation dialog shows exactly how many headers and values will be affected and includes an explicit option to delete the group and all its files — so nothing is permanently removed unless you choose it.

• AI-generated PDFs now download directly: PDF files produced by the AI assistant download to your computer immediately, consistent with how Excel, Word, and ZIP artifacts behave. Previously they opened in the browser instead of downloading.

• More accurate financial table extraction: Balance sheets and similar documents where a row label appears in multiple adjacent columns are now extracted correctly. Numbers are matched to the right column positions rather than being shifted one column off.

• Workpaper template reuse picker scrolls correctly: When applying a template on an engagement with many document groups, the reuse picker now scrolls cleanly through the full list. Sample datasource rows in the picker are correctly locked to "Create a new group" (with a tooltip explanation) since that type of data cannot be reused across tasks.

Bug Fixes

• Document viewer no longer carries over between pages: A document opened in the workpaper viewer no longer persists in the side panel when navigating to the Overview, Memo, or Chat page. Each page now opens with a clean state.

• Comment threads fully visible on active tasks: On tasks with high volumes of file activity, comment threads were appearing empty in the sidebar even though replies existed. All threads now display in full.

• AI file creation more consistently available: Fixed a recurring issue where the AI's ability to produce files (Excel, Word, PDF) could become unavailable for an extended period following spikes in cloud infrastructure pressure. The system now cleans up proactively to prevent capacity from being exhausted.

New

• Empty workpaper onboarding: when a workpaper has no columns yet, the grid now shows a clear "Set up columns" message with two options: a Draft with Co-Audit button that opens the Co-Audit chat and immediately asks the AI to propose columns from your task context, or an "Or configure manually" link that opens the workflow sidebar. The previous placeholder — fake column names like "Invoice #" and "Vendor" — has been removed.

Workpaper

• Cell panel follows your focus: clicking a different cell while viewing the Problems or Document tab now automatically switches to show that cell's content. Previously you had to click back to the Cell tab manually.
• Consistent review action labels: the Validate, Flag, and Lock pills now use matching past-tense labels ("Validated", "Flagged", "Locked") across all column types. These actions are hidden entirely on columns containing pasted sample data, where AI judgments don't apply.
• Problems tab actions in the tab strip: the Run All and Fix-with-Co-Audit shortcuts now appear on the right side of the tab strip when the Problems tab is active, rather than inside the panel body.
• Deleting files is more reliable: deleting a file that had math tick marks attached no longer fails partway through — the cleanup now completes successfully.

Financial Statement Review

• Spell Check and Grammar Check share findings: the two checkers now coordinate so Grammar Check defers to Spell Check on overlapping issues (possessives, punctuation, terminology). The same underlying problem no longer appears flagged twice.
• Correct wrong footing totals directly: when OCR reads an incorrect value in a row total or column cross-footing, you can now edit it in place — the same inline correction experience that was previously available only for manually-drawn footings.
• Findings visible immediately in the F/CF sidebar: findings are no longer grouped behind collapsed page headers. All flagged and consistent items are visible as soon as the sidebar opens.
• Math calculator errors stay visible: when saving a footing calculation fails, a persistent error banner with Retry and Revert buttons appears inside the panel, keeping your edits intact. Previously, only a brief notification appeared and the panel appeared saved.
• Fewer false-positive Internal Consistency suggestions: the IC checker no longer flags schedule entries labeled "No." (as in "Special District No. 2") as financial figures, no longer groups debt maturity schedule rows as a consistency tie-out, and now requires specific evidence for each individual figure rather than a single general rationale for an entire group.
• SC/GC PDF overlay shows only the selected finding: previously every finding in a Spell Check or Grammar Check session was highlighted on the PDF simultaneously. Now only the finding you click is highlighted.
• Math sidebar scrolls less aggressively: navigating between occurrences in the math sidebar no longer jumps the entire section to the top — the view scrolls only enough to keep the active row visible.

PDF Viewer

• Ctrl+scroll zoom no longer snaps to page 1: using Ctrl+mouse wheel to zoom out previously could drive the zoom to 0%, collapsing all pages and snapping the viewer to the beginning of the document. Zoom is now clamped to a safe range and page position is preserved.

Reliability

• Automation failures show clearly: failed automations — including Review Checklist, Spell Check, Grammar Check, and math analysis — now display as errors in the progress panel. Previously they could appear as successful or spin indefinitely.
• AI correctly reports when a file is temporarily unavailable: if a document becomes unreachable mid-search, the AI now tells you to retry rather than reporting "no matches found." If partial results were found before the interruption, those are returned alongside a clear warning.
• FSR pipeline runs more reliably on multi-section documents: a timing issue that could cause the Internal Consistency step to proceed without embeddings from all document sections — adding a several-minute delay with no visible explanation — has been resolved.

New Features

• AI-produced files in task chat. The Co-Audit agent can now build custom Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PDFs directly in the chat — not just describe what to do, but hand you the finished file. Ask for things like "build a loan schedule with a separate sheet per vendor" or "fill this form from our workpaper data" and a colored download chip appears at the end of the response. The agent can also read evidence and reference files already attached to the task when building its output.

• Move and Copy matched evidence. Right-clicking a matched row in the workpaper now offers a Move or Copy option under "Move to":

  • Move — removes the original match and creates it under the chosen parent row, with a preview of all downstream records that will be affected before you confirm.
  • Copy — adds a second association without touching the original, useful when the same evidence belongs under multiple parents.

• Run on empty match cells. Right-clicking an empty match column cell on a parent row now shows a Run option alongside "Pick document," so you can ask the agent to fill the match automatically rather than picking a file manually.

Improvements

• Template reconciliation is faster and clearer. When applying a template whose document groups share names with groups already in your engagement, the reconciliation screen now:

  • Lets you type a custom name when creating a new group (formula references update automatically).
  • Shows a "Client request · ID" chip next to any reuse option that's already shared with clients, and warns you that client uploads will continue going to the original task — so you know the upload ownership consequence before confirming.
  • Skips the screen entirely when there are no naming conflicts, jumping straight to a one-click Apply summary.
  • Highlights inline when two rows would resolve to the same name.

• First-run modal is simpler. When you open the Run dialog on a scope that has never been run, you now see just the scope description and a single Run button. The breakdown table and duplicate Re-run button only appear after something in the scope has been run.

• Remove Match is consistent everywhere. The consequence preview — showing how many downstream matched rows will be removed — now appears regardless of whether you use the grid right-click menu, the cell-detail panel, or the document-detail panel.

• Document group picker shows more context. The "Use Existing Document Group" panel now displays a file count badge on each group row, and task labels include the short task ID for faster scanning.

• AI artifact sessions start faster. The Co-Audit agent's file-building sessions now reach a ready state noticeably faster than before.

• Better AI model for EU users. The default AI model for auditors in the EU region has been upgraded to match the model used in the US.

Bug Fixes

• Co-Audit sidebar no longer splits in two. Opening "Fix with Co-Audit" from the Problems tab previously rendered a duplicate strip of recent chats below the chat panel. The chat panel now takes the full sidebar height as expected.

• Download chip appears once on saved chats. Reopening a chat that contained an AI-produced file used to show the download chip twice. It now appears exactly once.

• Template column setting for "run on no match" is now preserved. A per-column setting that controls whether the agent runs when no evidence match is found was being silently dropped when saving or applying templates. It now round-trips correctly.

New

• Document tab in the workpaper file viewer: When a file is open in the viewer, a new Document tab shows all the file's details in one place — its classification (editable inline), which match group it belongs to (Unmatched, Match Unlocked, Match Locked, or Excluded, all changeable from a dropdown), related page ranges from the same document, the AI's notes and reasoning, and a per-file activity history.

• Match section inline in the cell detail panel: When you click a match cell, the file picker now appears directly in the cell detail panel below the grid, split into "Matched" (files already linked to this row) and "Other" (remaining files in the datasource). No need to switch between panels to manage a match.

• Direction toggle in the match panel: A toggle in the match panel header lets you flip between two perspectives: "files view" shows which documents you can match to the focused row; "rows view" shows all rows in the datasource grouped by whether they're already matched to the file you're currently viewing in the viewer.

• Move and Copy for matched records: Right-clicking a match now offers explicit Move and Copy choices. Move re-parents the match to a new row and removes it from the original — a confirmation dialog shows you the full count of records that will be affected before you commit. Copy adds a second match at the new location while leaving the original intact.

• Run AI on empty match cells: Right-clicking an empty match cell now shows a Run option alongside the manual file picker, letting you ask the AI to attempt a match automatically.

• Run confirmation dialog: Every Run button now opens a confirmation dialog showing a per-document-group breakdown of what will be run — matches, custom column cells, and testing attributes. You choose between Run (fill only empty results) and Re-run (overwrite all non-locked, non-reviewed results). On the very first run of a fresh workpaper, when nothing has been filled yet, the dialog collapses to a single Run button with no breakdown.

Improvements

• Tick marks can be re-applied after removal: Removing a tick mark and then re-applying the same one to the same number no longer causes a conflict. The removed annotation is preserved in the history rather than being permanently deleted.

• Client setup error message: If a new client's practice resources don't finish setting up within five minutes, the loading spinner now transitions to an error message directing you to contact support instead of spinning indefinitely.

Bug Fixes

• Workpaper grid cleanup after re-run: After running all automations, empty placeholder rows no longer remain visible in the grid until the page is reloaded — they clear automatically.

• "Fix with Co-Audit" no longer splits the chat panel: Opening "Fix with Co-Audit" from the workpaper no longer causes recent chat history to appear alongside the active conversation, splitting the panel in two.

• Sandbox engagements don't generate email notifications: Activity summary emails and @mention notifications are no longer sent for sandbox (practice) engagements.

• Partial match Move is clearly reported: If a match Move creates the new association successfully but cannot remove the original, you now see a specific message explaining what happened and how to finish the move manually.

New Features

• Workflow diagram in workpaper: A new interactive diagram in the workpaper sidebar visualizes all datasources as cards with connecting edges. Each card shows its type (Table Data, Client, or Auditor), column and file counts, and yellow warning banners when selection data or files are missing. Action buttons at the bottom let you run all automations or drill into per-datasource options — including a "Fill Empty" mode that skips cells that already have values.

• Context picker in task chat: An attachment popover now lets you choose exactly which files to include in your chat message. Files are grouped by datasource with "Select all / Deselect all" per group, a filename search, and a count badge. In task chat, a "Paste Selection Data" action opens the Add/Edit Selections modal directly from the chat panel — no need to navigate to the workpaper first.

• Chat can navigate directly to a sampling form: The Co-Audit Agent can now deep-link you to the workpaper and automatically open the selection data modal pre-set to a specific sampling method (Random, MUS, High Value, or JE Testing) — so following an AI recommendation takes you straight to configuration.

• Workpaper onboarding now offers two starting paths: When setting up a new workpaper, you can choose "Add Selections" (opens the import modal right away) or "No Selections" (proceed directly to naming a document group), matching how you actually want to begin.

Improvements

• Clearer selection data controls: The workpaper datasource toolbar now shows an "Add Selection Data" button when no data exists, and an "Edit Selection Data" split button when data is present. The split button separates "Replace Selection Data" (clear and re-import, including changing headers) from "Append Rows" (add rows while preserving existing column structure).

• Done tasks visible by default on the board: Completed tasks now appear on the board by default. Use the "Completed issues" filter to hide them — opting in to hiding rather than opting in to seeing.

• Status change confirmation when selection data is missing: When moving a client-visible task to a status clients can see, and the task has no pasted selection data, a confirmation dialog now appears. It lists each affected task and requires an acknowledgement before proceeding — preventing accidental client exposure of requests without data.

• Library file preview improvements: The library now shows a graceful fallback for corrupt or unreadable PDFs instead of a blank error. Excel previews include sheet tab navigation so you can browse between tabs.

• Welcome email errors now show the specific reason: If sending a welcome email to an auditor or client fails, the notification now shows the specific cause (e.g., "on suppression list — contact support to remove") instead of a generic error.

New Features

• AI exception clustering on TICKMARK automations: when a TICKMARK attribute column automation completes, AI now automatically groups the exception rows (rows that failed the tickmark evaluation) into labeled exception groups (A, B, C, …). Re-running the automation preserves any cells you have already accepted or rejected, so your review work is never lost.

Bug Fixes

• PDF export: F and CF tickmarks now render correctly when opening exported workpapers in Adobe Acrobat.
• Paste Sample / Add Table from Excel: the import now validates the column mapping upfront and surfaces a clear error instead of failing mid-operation.
• Automation reliability: fixed an edge case where re-running an automation on empty cells would not register correctly, causing the run to silently stall.
• Tickmarks: resolved a race condition that could produce errors when two tickmarks were created on the same workpaper in quick succession.

New Features

• PDF citation highlighting in chat: When the AI references a value from a source document, it can now pin the exact region directly in the document viewer — not just quote the text. Click the citation to jump to the highlighted area in the PDF. Available in task chat once document context exists (file reads, attachments, or extraction results); available in Co-Audit Chat whenever attachments are present in the conversation.

Improvements

• Engagement variable context management in chat: In long AI chat sessions, previously fetched engagement variable values are automatically compacted out of the AI's working context and replaced with a lightweight reference — keeps sessions running cleanly without hitting context limits. The AI re-fetches the value automatically if it's needed again.
• New Client button on client detail page: You can now create a new client directly from a client's detail page header without navigating back to the client list.

Bug Fixes

• Match column "matched manually" label corrected: The "This file was matched manually" tooltip on workpaper match cells now only appears when a file was genuinely assigned by hand. Files matched by the AI agent or rules-based matching no longer carry this label.
• Duplicate client name validation: Attempting to create a client organization with a name that already exists in your firm now surfaces an inline error ("A client with this name already exists") immediately, rather than failing without clear feedback.

AI Improvements

• Co-Audit Agent skips approval for empty datasource deletion: deleting a datasource with no files, columns, or records no longer surfaces a confirmation card — the agent proceeds immediately. Approval is still required when the datasource has content.
• Workpaper design anchors on purpose and source: when building or modifying workpaper structure, the Co-Audit Agent now grounds every structural decision in the audit objective and the documents the auditor will examine, inferring both from context (prompt, task title, memo, existing datasources). If context is insufficient, the agent names what's missing before proceeding — no more guesswork on downstream choices like datasources, columns, or match instructions.
• Automatic cleanup of the "Requested Documents" placeholder: the default Requested Documents datasource created on new tasks is now treated as a placeholder. If it's empty when the agent is designing the workpaper, it's renamed to fit the design or deleted — never preserved as-is just because it exists.

File Management

• Bulk Move to datasource: select multiple files in the file explorer and move them all to a different datasource in one action via the Actions dropdown or right-click menu. If any selected files have protected records, a confirmation dialog shows the count before proceeding.
• Upload cell address tooltip: hovering any upload cell now shows a cursor-following chip indicating exactly where dropped files will land — per-row cells show "Selection #N → DatasourceName", the bulk upload cell shows "Bulk upload → DatasourceName". The tooltip automatically hides during active drags so it doesn't compete with the table-level drop indicator.

File Processing

• Accurate citations in large PDFs: large PDFs processed via the Lambda pipeline now correctly capture per-page text and graphics across all pages, fixing citation bounding boxes that were off or missing on later pages.
• Clear permission error on upload: when a file upload fails because the user doesn't have access to the workpaper, the file tooltip now shows a distinct permission-denied error instead of a generic failure message — making it immediately clear the issue is authorization, not a processing problem.

Bug Fixes

• Excel export — matched filenames: MATCH and MATCH_AGENT datasource cells now show the matched filename in the export instead of appearing blank.
• Excel export — redundant column removed: the row-level "File (Source)" column has been removed from Excel exports.
• Task creation modal — cursor position: typing in the description field of the task creation modal no longer causes the cursor to jump to the end of the text.

UI

• Request table redesign: upload cells, column headers, footers, and drag-and-drop interactions have been refreshed with updated styling and cleaner UX.
• File explorer folder icons: datasource folder icons now open visually on hover and when the folder is expanded, making the tree state easier to read at a glance.

Improvements

• Roll forward no longer carries stale prior-year variable values: Engagement variables linked to workpaper columns (synced variables) are now left blank when rolling an engagement forward — they populate automatically when the destination workpaper runs. User-set variable values continue to carry forward as before.
• Re-running roll-forward is safer: Re-running against an existing destination no longer overwrites synced variable values that the destination workpaper has already populated.
• Roll Forward dialog always pre-populates from completed engagements: Navigating to Roll Forward from a prior-year engagement marked as Done now correctly pre-selects the client and engagement, even if engagement data is still loading.

AI Chat

• Look up engagement variables in Co-Audit Chat: The AI can now list all engagement variable names and retrieve the current value of any specific variable (e.g. "What's the materiality threshold?"). Works in both task chat and standalone chat.

Bug Fixes

• 404 pages redirect to your engagement: Navigating to an unknown or mistyped URL no longer leaves you on a dead-end error page — authenticated users are automatically redirected to their most recent engagement.

New Features

• FSR PDF exports now open with a structured cover sheet. The prepended cover sheet provides a full tick-mark index in two sections — §01 lists every flagged exception with its mode, tick-mark identifier, description, and reviewer notes; §02 is a complete index organized by mode (PY → IC → F/CF). Every row is a clickable internal link that jumps directly to the matching page in the financial statements (and to the exact on-page location when a bounding box is available). The cover sheet also includes a masthead (client name, engagement title, reporting period) and a six-entry tick-mark legend, making the exported PDF self-contained for offline review.

Bug Fixes

• Cloned engagements: reference and library files are now accessible to all recipients. Previously, auditors provisioned via a sandbox clone were denied download and viewer access to reference and library files because file ownership still pointed to the source engagement. Files are now correctly scoped to the destination task, and access is restored immediately for all clone recipients — including non-admin auditors.

• Engagement board: disabled board pills now show real counts and smarter guidance. When the Requests or Tasks board is turned off in engagement settings, the pill now shows the actual task or request count instead of a hardcoded zero. If hidden tasks exist — for example, after cloning from an ALL-visibility engagement — the tooltip explicitly flags it: "This engagement has client-visible requests but the board is hidden. Enable it in engagement settings." When the count is zero, the original shorter tooltip is shown. Auditors can now tell at a glance whether there are tasks waiting on them vs. whether the board is simply unused.

• Automation progress cards are more accurate after network interruptions. On reconnect following a pod rotation, stale failure markers in the automation progress card are immediately replaced by the correct live status if the background retry has already succeeded — no more misleading red indicators on automations that actually completed. In the AI chat run card: a "Reconnecting…" pill appears during brief connectivity gaps so in-progress runs look like transient buffering rather than failures; the "Analysis skipped" warning is suppressed while a run is still in flight and only surfaces after the run reaches a terminal state; and Cancel now reliably targets the correct run by its unique ID rather than the short automation ID.

Features

• Auto-navigate to citations on card expand: Expanding a review checklist prompt card now automatically scrolls the PDF to the card's first citation — flagged findings are prioritized, and the lowest page number is selected first when multiple citations exist.
• Single-citation highlight: Only one citation is highlighted in the PDF at a time. Clicking a different finding row moves the highlight to that citation, making it easier to trace individual findings without visual clutter.
• Redesigned FSR export cover sheet: The annotated PDF export cover sheet has a new layout and typography (IBM Plex Mono tick marks), clickable rows that link directly to relevant findings, and now includes the Review Summary section.

Improvements

• Foot/Crossfoot action buttons always visible: Save, Reset, and Apply are now rendered inline at the bottom of the calculator card with an independently scrollable operand list — the action row stays in view regardless of how long your operand list is.

Bug Fixes

• Workpaper saves target the correct task: Fixed an issue where a queued autosave could be sent to the wrong task when navigating quickly between tasks while the memo panel stayed mounted.
• PDF navigation for bbox-less citations: Clicking a citation that has a page number but no drawn bounding box now correctly navigates the PDF to that page.
• Cross-page operands persist on save: Fixed an issue where cross-page Foot/Crossfoot operands were dropped when using the standalone save action.

File Explorer

• Multi-file selection across datasources: checkboxes appear on hover; a header checkbox selects every file across all datasource folders at once; Shift+click range-selects including across folder boundaries; folder headers show a live selected/total count (e.g., "3/8")
• Floating bulk action bar: when 2 or more files are selected, a pill-style bar anchors to the bottom of the file explorer showing the selection count, a clear button, delete, and (for auditors) an Actions dropdown
• Bulk download: download all selected files as a single zip; files from multiple datasources are organized into labeled subdirectories; a single selected file downloads directly without zipping
• Bulk re-run OCR: re-run text recognition on all selected files at once from the Actions dropdown

Deep Analysis

• Chat auto-opens after completion: when a deep analysis question finishes, the resulting chat opens automatically in the task chat sidebar — no need to navigate manually; freshly created chats appear without a page refresh
• Deep Analysis chats in history: Deep Analysis chats in the chat history sidebar display a purple bolt icon to distinguish them from user-started conversations; the "Deep Analysis: " title prefix is stripped so only the question title is shown
• Faster start: deep analysis no longer waits for embedding or classification pipelines — questions begin processing immediately after OCR completes

Financial Statement Review

• AI math correction: the FSR pipeline now includes automatic math validation correction — for each detected table, the AI identifies total rows and columns, determines the correct operand set and sign assignments (add vs. subtract), and commits corrections only when the result achieves zero discrepancies; partial improvements are never applied; discovery mode also establishes operand formulas for totals that were detected by OCR but had no formula yet, improving validation coverage after the first AI run without requiring a separate follow-up pass

Workpaper

• Table row extraction completeness: the AI extraction safety net now catches leading-row omissions in financial statement tables (e.g., combined net assets or partners' capital statements with no parent header row); both leading-row gaps and zero-row returns trigger a correction re-prompt, ensuring all values appear in the workpaper grid
• Reviewed cells stay highlighted during Run All: accepted (green) and rejected (red) cells no longer flicker white or yellow mid-run when bulk automation is triggered — their visual state is maintained throughout the entire run; as an added safeguard, reviewed cells are now skipped even if the protected flag is absent

Engagement Board

• Collapsible document search results: document search results are now organized as collapsible groups — task → datasource → file → matching pages; each level is independently collapsible; tasks that matched only on title or description appear at the top labeled "Metadata match" with no document evidence shown; clicking a task header navigates to the task overview; clicking a file result opens it at the matching page

Co-Audit Agent

• Column scope for run_automation: the AI can now re-run a single attribute column across all rows in a datasource — the right action after updating a column's prompt and wanting every row recomputed without triggering a full workpaper re-run

Clients

• Filter banner: when active filters hide one or more items from the client list, a banner appears showing the hidden count with a Clear Filters button to reset all active filters at once

New Features

• Unmatched aggregate row: Match-agent datasources now display a pinned Unmatched row at the bottom of the workpaper grid whenever files remain unmatched. Each datasource column shows an amber chip with the unmatched file count — clicking it opens the cell detail panel filtered to those files. Once all files are matched, the chip turns green. Sample datasource columns are visually subdued so the row reads as a single status band rather than live data.

• Lock / Unlock Matches: A new Lock Matches button in the unmatched-files panel lets auditors bulk-protect every confirmed match in a datasource with a single click. When all matches are already protected, the button switches to Unlock Matches. The button is hidden while unmatched files remain — a Re-run Match button is shown instead.

Improvements

• Accounting Policy entries previously labeled Rich Text are now labeled Custom.

New

• Automatic client-upload enrollment: document group datasources added to a task that is already client-visible are now automatically set up for client uploads at creation time — no need to manually toggle "Provided by: Client" afterward.
• Co-Audit Agent row pagination: the agent can now page through large datasource tables (default 20 rows per call, up to 100 per request with offset support) and filter by specific columns — reducing incomplete or truncated reads on wide or high-row-count tables.

Improvements

• Unsupported file formats now download automatically: clicking a file in the file explorer that cannot be previewed triggers a browser download instead of failing silently.
• Clear message for deleted files: if a file has been removed, the viewer now shows "This file is no longer available — it may have been deleted." instead of a generic error.

Fixes

• Memo auto-saves are more resilient — edge cases that previously caused silent save failures are now handled correctly.
• Resolving multiple comments at once is faster — previously sent one request per comment, now resolved in a single call.
• Stale chat sessions are cleaned up correctly when a chat no longer exists in the list.

New Features

• Template share links: Copy a universal link to any task template directly from the template preview header. Recipients are taken to their own board with the Add modal already open to that template's focused preview — no searching required.
• Template deep-link: Boards opened with a ?templateId URL (e.g. from a shared template link) jump straight to that template's focused preview; an error toast appears if the template is unavailable or inaccessible.

Improvements

• Roll Forward now preserves more: rolling tasks into a new engagement carries over categories, memo fields (Purpose, Source, Scope, Procedures), and datasource column structure. Task status resets to To Do; conclusions are intentionally left blank. Engagement variables are cloned with their workpaper column links intact; re-running roll-forward removes any stale column links that were disconnected in the source since the last run.
• Add task modal context: when opened from an engagement, the client and engagement are now pre-selected from the current URL even before the page context has fully loaded. Client and engagement dropdowns scroll when the list is long.
• Task description editing: external changes to a task description (e.g. from AI chat) now apply in-place without reloading the editor — cursor position and focus are preserved mid-keystroke. Saving your own changes no longer briefly echoes back to the same tab.
• Formula columns on Collective output: formula columns that reference a Collective retrieval column now reduce the multi-value result sensibly — numbers are summed, dates become a min–max range, booleans check that all values are truthy, and text values are deduplicated and joined.
• Semantic search on Excel and CSV files: files without vector embeddings (Excel, CSV) now automatically fall back to trigram keyword search so they appear in semantic search results even before the embedding pipeline has run.
• Sandbox reset reliability: resetting a sandbox engagement now performs an atomic swap — the new copy replaces the old one with the same short identifier preserved. If the clone fails, the original is left intact and the reset can be retried. The board auto-refreshes on completion.

Bug Fixes

• Engagement access errors: navigating to an engagement you cannot access or that no longer exists now shows a descriptive error page instead of an infinite loading spinner. Auditors see guidance to ask an admin to add them; clients are told to contact their auditor. A Go to home button is shown in both cases.
• Clients page access: non-auditor users are now correctly blocked from /clients routes at the middleware layer and redirected to home, rather than reaching an error state.
