Punchcard product updates

Features

• CoAudit can now ask you a question when a decision isn't clear: at genuine decision forks — for example, whether to reuse an existing shared document group or start a fresh one — CoAudit now pauses and presents an inline multiple-choice card instead of guessing. Single-choice questions use radio buttons; multi-select uses checkboxes. You can also add a free-text note. Related questions are grouped into one tabbed card with keyboard navigation: arrow keys move between options, left/right arrows page between questions, Enter advances or submits, and Escape returns focus to the composer. Once submitted, the card dims and shows a compact summary of your answers.

Improvements

• Removing a shared document group is now clearly labeled: when a document group is attached to more than one workpaper, the confirmation dialog now reads "Remove" — detaching it from this workpaper only, leaving all other workpapers and their files intact. The permanent-deletion warning (including the amber callout that all uploaded files will be destroyed) continues to appear only when this is the last workpaper using the group.
• Category label on task cards is now a quick-edit button: clicking a task's category badge on the board or list view opens the category picker directly, the same way clicking the priority or due date does.
• Download All gives a clearer error when some files fail: when bulk-downloading reference files, the error message now distinguishes between files that are permanently gone (deleted from storage) and files that failed due to a temporary problem — so you know whether retrying will help.
• Non-previewable files show a download button instead of a blank pane: opening a file that cannot be displayed inline (such as a .txt or .csv) in the Workpaper viewer now shows the filename, a short explanation, and a Download button, rather than leaving the viewer empty with no indication of what happened.
• German income statements handle mixed TEUR and % columns correctly: financial statements that present currency (TEUR/MEUR) and percentage columns side by side now apply rounding and unit labels per column — percentage values are no longer rounded as if they were TEUR amounts in the math calculator.
• New engagement short identifier shows a usable suggestion when taken: if the identifier you enter is already in use, Punchcard now shows a collision-free suggestion you can apply in one click, instead of a static "already in use" message with no next step. (Also fixed: the availability check was incorrectly reporting every identifier as taken — this is now resolved.)

Bug Fixes

• Sample table columns no longer reverse or shuffle on re-open: columns pasted into the selection data modal now appear in the same left-to-right order on every open. Previously they could reverse each time the edit modal was opened, causing columns to appear in the wrong order.
• AI citations in the Workpaper now link to the correct source file: when CoAudit analyses a group of documents together — for example, a batch detail spreadsheet alongside a bank statement — citations now correctly link to the file the AI actually read, not always the primary document in the group. Affected workpapers include collective analyses such as three-way match engagements.
• Files uploaded in standalone CoAudit chat are always accessible: uploading multiple files at once in a standalone chat session could leave some files inaccessible, producing a permissions error when the AI tried to reference them. This is fixed.
• Engagement board shows an access error if your membership is removed mid-session: if your team membership is revoked while you have the engagement board open, the board now shows the standard "you don't have access" message instead of going blank.
• Tasks marked as client-facing now reliably appear in the client view: in certain workflows, toggling a document group to "provided by client" did not always make the owning task visible to the client. The task visibility now stays in sync whenever a client-facing datasource is configured.
• Users with accented or non-ASCII characters in their email address can now receive notifications: users at firms where email addresses contain umlauts or other non-ASCII characters (common in German-language firms) are prompted on first login to verify an alternative delivery address, ensuring they receive email notifications going forward.

New Features

• Private engagements: Mark any engagement as private from the engagement settings page options menu (⋯). A private engagement — and all its tasks — is hidden from firm colleagues who aren't explicitly named as team members. Only named members and admins can see it. The toggle updates immediately and reverts automatically if saving fails.

• Excel viewer renders cell colors and comments: The Workpaper Excel viewer now faithfully recreates background fill colors and font colors from the original file, so color-coded headers, highlighted rows, and styled tables appear exactly as they do in Excel. Cells with comments or notes show a small red triangle in the corner; hovering reveals the comment text.

• TEUR-aware math validation: The Financial Statement Review calculator now detects when a document is presented in thousands or millions (TEUR, MEUR, "in thousands") and automatically adjusts. Operand values display as integers matching the statement convention, a quiet unit label confirms the active scale, and the verdict reads "≈ Validates on rounding" when a footing passes within the tolerance band but isn't an exact tie. Column totals that appear before their operand columns — common in some European reporting layouts — are now also validated correctly.

• Plain text and RTF files can now be uploaded: .txt and .rtf files are now accepted for upload and AI extraction, joining PDFs, Excel files, and CSVs.

• Real-time identifier availability when creating an engagement: The short identifier field now checks availability as you type and shows an inline hint if the chosen identifier is already taken — for example, "ACME" is already in use. This engagement will be created as ACME2. — so you know the final identifier before submitting.

• CoAudit can link workpaper columns as engagement-wide variables: When working with the CoAudit agent on a Workpaper task, you can ask it to mark a column's extracted output as an engagement-wide variable, making those values available for reference across all tasks in the engagement.

Bug Fixes

• Excel citations now highlight the correct cell: Citation highlights in the Excel viewer now land on the right cell even when the spreadsheet has leading blank rows or columns before the data area.

• Citations on repeated values highlight one cell, not a span: When a cited value (such as "$0") appears in multiple cells of the same table row, the citation now highlights a single cell rather than drawing an incorrect band across unrelated cells.

• Page no longer freezes after closing a confirmation dialog: Clicking Cancel on a confirmation dialog — such as a file delete confirmation — could leave the entire page unresponsive to clicks. This is fixed.

• Workpaper automation correctly populates records for shared datasources: Running automation on a task that shares a datasource no longer produces an empty grid. Each task now generates its own records correctly.

• Financial Statement Review handles partial document processing more gracefully: If one section of a document encounters a problem during processing, the successfully processed sections are now preserved so the review can continue rather than failing entirely.

• CSV exports with title rows now import correctly: CSV files that begin with a report title line or blank line before the column headers — common in GL and payroll exports — are now recognized and imported correctly.

• Office lock files are rejected at upload: Temporary Office files (those beginning with ~$) are now immediately rejected with a clear unsupported-file error rather than being silently submitted for processing.

Performance

• Excel viewer opens large files faster: Cell color scanning is now limited to the visible portion of the sheet on open, so large workbooks no longer cause a noticeable delay when first viewed.

AI & CoAudit

• Files uploaded in CoAudit task chat are now auto-sorted into the correct document group as soon as they finish processing. A persistent trail in the conversation records what happened — "Uploaded invoice.pdf", "Sorted 3 files into Invoices · Bank Statements" — so you always know where your files landed, even after leaving and returning to the chat.
• Ask CoAudit to move a misrouted file: if a file ends up in the wrong group, tell CoAudit ("move invoice.pdf to the Invoices group") and it will move it without leaving the chat.
• Excel cell background colors and cell comments are now captured during file processing. Cells with color-coded classifications or embedded auditor notes in Excel workbooks are now visible to AI extraction columns.
• Excel files with formulas now show correct values instead of blanks. Formulas that previously computed to empty — common in programmatically produced spreadsheets — are now evaluated correctly.
• Chat messages with file attachments now reliably receive AI responses. A bug where certain messages appeared to send successfully but never produced a reply has been resolved.

Workpaper & Automations

• Testing attribute automations now pick up every file, including those added after the first run. Previously, files uploaded to a shared document group after you first ran an automation were silently skipped. All files are now included on every run.
• "Fill empty" reruns now correctly process all rows, including rows that were added since the previous run.
• Automations and Match Agent runs stay isolated to the correct workpaper when a document group is shared across multiple workpapers. Results no longer bleed between workpapers sharing the same document group.

Engagements & Clients

• Engagement identifiers no longer block creation or editing when already in use. The identifier field now adjusts automatically (e.g. SAND → SAND2) instead of returning an error that requires you to try again.
• Document groups created from PBC request imports are now available in the document group picker across other workpapers in the same engagement, so evidence collected for one workpaper can be reused without re-uploading.
• Creating new client organizations is faster. The New Client form now responds immediately after clicking Create instead of freezing on firms with many existing clients.

New

• Comment indicators on tick marks: A corner badge now appears on tick marks that have active comment threads — amber for unresolved comments, blue when all comments are resolved. Reviewers can spot annotated marks at a glance without hovering over each one.
• Deep Analysis controls in the Run dialog: The Run confirmation dialog now lists each Deep Analysis question with a count of pages already covered (e.g., "3 of 5 pages"). Use per-question checkboxes to include or skip individual questions before running.
• CoAudit artifacts available in personal chats: The full artifact toolkit — generating Excel workbooks, charts, and Word documents — is now available in personal CoAudit chats, not only in task-linked chats.
• Formula columns export as live Excel formulas: Formula columns in the workpaper now export as real =... Excel formulas with cross-column cell references instead of frozen computed values.

Improvements

• FSR cover sheet for all exports: The Financial Statement Review PDF cover sheet — with a clickable index of every footing and cross-footing mark — now generates for all annotated FSR exports.
• "Set as Testing Attribute" available on all columns: The option to mark a workpaper column as a Testing Attribute is now visible on all eligible attribute columns.
• Fill Empty covers partially-analyzed questions: "Run Empty" now fills missing page coverage for Deep Analysis questions that were only partially run, rather than skipping them entirely because some pages already had results.
• Workpaper exports are faster on repeat runs: Population sheets are built once when you save a sampling run and reused on subsequent exports, making repeated exports significantly faster for tasks with large data populations.
• "Paste from clipboard" gives specific feedback: The Paste from Clipboard button now shows a clear message when the clipboard is empty, when the copied content isn't recognized as a table, or when clipboard access is denied — with guidance to use Ctrl+V as a fallback.
• Column picker shows a live selection summary: The Excel import column picker now displays your current header row and column selections in real time, with clearer instructions.
• Workflow connections wired automatically: Adding or attaching a datasource from the sidebar now automatically connects it to the correct parent in the workflow diagram — no manual wiring needed.

Bug Fixes

Exports

• Large workpaper exports no longer crash: Exporting workpapers with very large data populations no longer crashes or hangs the browser tab.
• Multi-datasource exports produce valid files: Workpaper exports containing more than one datasource no longer generate Excel files that Excel needs to repair on open.
• DATE values in exports are now correct for all time zones: DATE column values in exported workpapers were showing one day earlier than expected for users in time zones at or east of UTC (UK, Europe, India, Asia Pacific). This is now fixed.

Selection Data (Add/Edit Selection Data)

• Original population preserved after sampling: Opening "Edit Selection Data" after pasting data and taking a random sample now correctly shows the full original population, not just the sampled rows.
• Row checkboxes honored in No Sampling mode: Checking specific rows when using No Sampling now imports only those rows. Previously, all rows were always imported regardless of which boxes were checked.
• Editing a table no longer creates a duplicate node: Importing an Excel file while editing an existing table datasource no longer creates a second empty node in the workflow diagram.
• Clear no longer causes an infinite loading screen: Clicking Clear on selection data no longer sometimes left the modal stuck on an endless loading spinner.
• Copy from Request imports into the correct datasource: Using "Copy from Request" while editing an existing datasource now correctly loads data into that datasource instead of creating a new one.
• Dates in pasted and sampled data are now correct: Date values entered by pasting or through the sampling wizard were also affected by the GMT+ timezone shift described above — also fixed.

Files and Matching

• Deleted files show a clear notification: Attempting to download a file that has since been deleted now shows a "File unavailable" message instead of a generic error, both on the task overview page and in the workpaper file explorer.
• Accepting a large batch of matches now works reliably: Selecting and accepting a very large number of matched files in a single action no longer fails silently.

Workpaper and FSR

• European number formats recognized correctly: AI-powered number extraction now correctly reads numbers formatted in European conventions (e.g., German financial statements where periods are thousands separators and commas are decimal separators), so those values are no longer silently dropped.
• Foot/Crossfoot re-run properly clears prior marks: Re-running Foot/Crossfoot validations now removes marks from any prior run, eliminating leftover marks in the PDF overlay that could not be clicked or dismissed.
• FSR sidebar no longer flashes "No findings yet": The Financial Statement Review sidebar no longer briefly shows "No findings yet" while results are still loading.
• Escape key closes dropdown menus correctly: Pressing Escape while a dropdown menu is open (such as the engagement breadcrumb menu) now closes the menu instead of navigating you back to the board.

New Features

• Copy data directly from another request: A new "Copy from Request" option in Import Table Data lets you populate a workpaper table by copying data from another task in the same engagement. Pick the source task, choose a sample datasource or a tabular file, then configure the header row and columns using the same picker as a direct Excel import. Both source groups ("Sample Selections" and "Table Files") are always shown with a clear indication when a group is empty.

• Pick which sheet to import from multi-sheet Excel files: When importing an Excel file that has more than one worksheet, a sheet selector now appears in the column picker so you can choose exactly which sheet to use. Previously, imports always used the first sheet with no option to change it.

Performance

• Copy from Request source picker opens faster for large files: Row counts, column counts, and column headers in the source picker now load immediately instead of re-reading the file each time the picker opens. Files with tens of thousands of rows that previously caused a multi-second delay now appear instantly.

Bug Fixes

• All worksheets are now selectable when importing older Excel files: In some Excel files uploaded before a recent update, worksheets beyond the first appeared grayed out in the import sheet picker. Those sheets are now always selectable and always show the correct preview data for that sheet.

• Citation pills scroll to the right location on the first click: Clicking a citation pill in cell reasoning now navigates the document viewer to the correct passage immediately. Some citations previously required two clicks before landing in the right spot.

• Viewer header and toolbar stay visible after clicking a citation: Clicking an inline citation pill in cell reasoning no longer causes the document filename and toolbar buttons to disappear. The header stays intact while the citation is highlighted in the document.

• Toolbar buttons stay fully visible in a narrow viewer: When the document viewer is at a constrained width, toolbar action buttons (lasso, search, and others) now remain fully visible — the filename truncates before any buttons are hidden.

• "Informed by" tree: clicking a value node navigates the workpaper fully: Clicking a value link in the "Informed by" provenance tree now moves the grid selection, cell-detail panel, and document viewer to the referenced cell together. Previously the document viewer could fail to update or show the wrong content.

• "Informed by" tree: citation pills show one highlight and scroll vertically: Clicking a citation pill inside the "Informed by" tree now shows a single highlight on the document (no duplicate outline) and scrolls straight to the cited passage without any sideways movement.

• Wide preview tables scroll horizontally in Copy from Request: The data preview on the Copy from Request confirmation step now displays a horizontal scrollbar for tables with many columns, so all column data is visible without being squeezed.

Features

Workpaper

• See what informed each AI result: When Punchcard AI fills a workpaper cell using values from other columns, an "Informed by" section now appears in the cell detail panel. Expand it to see a tree of every upstream value the AI referenced, the reasoning behind each connection, and inline citations you can click to jump straight to that location in the source document. Click any node in the tree to navigate directly to that cell in the workpaper grid.
• Excel and CSV file import now available to all users: Uploading an Excel or CSV file when adding selection data is no longer a limited rollout — every user now has access. This is especially useful for very large populations that are impractical to paste from the clipboard.

Bug Fixes

Chat

• Send button no longer stays disabled after attaching a file: After uploading a file in a chat conversation, the Send button could remain unclickable even after the file finished processing. This is now fixed.
• Chat messages containing links now display correctly: AI responses that included certain link formats could cause the entire message to fail to load. This is now fixed.

Workpaper

• OCR status indicator always visible on the Files tab: The badge showing files with pending or failed text recognition was being partially hidden behind the adjacent tab. It is now correctly positioned and fully visible at all times.
• Spurious error on workpaper open no longer appears: A "Failed to load available headers" message that sometimes flashed briefly when first opening a workpaper no longer appears.

Notifications

• Activity summary emails are no longer sent twice: Some users were receiving their activity summary email twice in quick succession. This has been resolved.

New

• Request Once, Use Many is now available to all users: Attach an existing document group to multiple workpapers without asking clients to re-submit files. The option appears in the Source section when adding or editing a workpaper column. Co-Audit is also aware of which tasks share a document group when answering questions.

Workpaper

• Date formulas now calculate correctly: Formulas that compare or subtract dates — such as computing the number of days between an invoice date and a payment date — now produce the right result instead of treating the dates as arithmetic. Both M/D/YYYY and YYYY-MM-DD date formats are recognized.
• Large Excel files process faster: Processing large Excel spreadsheets during upload is now significantly more efficient, reducing slowdowns and failures on heavy files.
• Tick mark and template audience picker is cleaner: The Global/full-site audience option is now shown only to site admins, removing a choice that had no effect for regular auditors.

Files and Workflow Panel

• Explicit close and reopen controls: The right-side panel now has a ✕ button to close it entirely. When closed, a sidebar icon replaces the folder tabs and reopens the panel to whichever tab (Files or Workflow) you had open last.
• Reopening Files preserves your place: If you had a match cell selected when you closed the panel, reopening Files returns you directly to that cell's file view and match controls — not back to the top-level document picker.

Co-Audit AI

• Extraction tools work after a page refresh: The "correct extraction" and "edit extraction" tools now continue to work after refreshing the page. Previously they would report that extraction results were unavailable — even when the data was still intact.
• Declining a navigation suggestion no longer shows an error: Choosing "No thanks" when Co-Audit proposes a navigation now records as a neutral completed step in the chat, not a red error indicator.
• AI responses and analyses are more reliable: Fixed a category of failures where AI-generated content — including chat replies and document analysis results — occasionally failed to save due to special characters in the output.

Platform

• Library file deletion is now instant: Removing a file from the firm or engagement library now completes right away, even for recently-uploaded files that could previously take an extended time to delete.
• All emails now show the Punchcard logo: Invitation emails, task notifications, comment alerts, and activity summaries now display the full Punchcard wordmark, correctly rendered without clipping.
• Uploads to new document groups now work: Fixed an issue where uploading files to a document group created with the "Create New" option could fail silently.
• App updates no longer interrupt your session: When Punchcard deploys a new version while you're working, you'll see a "New Version Available" prompt and can refresh smoothly — rather than being unexpectedly redirected to the login screen.

Performance & Reliability

Large Data Paste Handling

• Pasting huge Excel tables no longer freezes the application. Previously, importing journals with hundreds of thousands of rows would hang the browser for many minutes. The new optimized parser and incremental processing keep the workpaper responsive throughout the entire import.
• Massive improvements to memory usage for large data imports. The system now samples data intelligently rather than processing every cell upfront, preventing the browser from running out of memory on very large pastes.
• Smart confirmation dialog for very large pastes. Pastes exceeding 200,000 rows now show a recommendation to use the file upload feature instead, which handles that scale more efficiently without blocking the UI.

Data Integrity

• Fixed cell splitting when pasting Excel data with line breaks. Previously, cells containing quoted text with embedded newlines would incorrectly be split into multiple rows during import. This now works correctly.
• Single-column table pastes no longer split valid wrapped cells. Previously, wrapped cells in single-column tables would be broken into extra rows during import.

Authentication

• Users can now log in with the updated organization authentication domain. The organization's recent authentication system update is fully supported, so all accounts can access the platform without interruption.

Workpaper Sampling

• Saving selection data now generates a PDF sampling report alongside the Excel file. Click "Save Data" after setting up a Random, MUS, or Journal Entry sample and a formatted report is produced automatically. It includes a summary table, population breakdown chart, and method-specific parameters — plus the per-test hit-count table and Benford's Law histogram for Journal Entry testing (when that test is enabled).
• Sampling reports are bundled into all workpaper exports. Every export format — Workpaper Only, Files + Workpaper (.xlsx), and Files + Workpaper (.zip) — automatically includes the relevant sampling sheets and PDF reports.
• The Benford's Law histogram is now interactive. Click the chart to expand it to fullscreen for a closer view. You can also adjust how many digit pairs are flagged as anomalous directly from the fullscreen view.
• When you reopen the selection data dialog to edit an existing random sample, your previous filter settings are preserved.

Co-Audit Chat

• Edit existing workpaper columns without deleting and recreating them. You can now ask Co-Audit to update an existing column's name, prompt, data type, or pass/fail icons — the change applies in place, preserving the column's position and history.
• Choose how AI columns analyze files per row. When asking Co-Audit to add an AI prompt column or testing attribute column, you can specify whether the AI should evaluate each file individually or summarize across all files for a given row.

File Processing

• Very large spreadsheet and CSV files now process correctly. Files such as journal entry exports with 50,000 or more rows were previously rejected as too complex to read. These files now upload and extract text successfully.
• CSV files with accented letters, special characters, or files created with European regional settings now process correctly. Files that previously failed to upload due to encoding issues will now work.

Workpaper Automations

• Running all automations on a workpaper is more reliable. A performance issue that caused automation runs to fail silently on large workpapers has been resolved.

Task Management

• Save any task as a reusable template from the breadcrumb menu at the top of any task page (auditor only). Set a name, description, visibility (Personal, Firm-wide, or Global), and tags. The dialog previews the task's structure and warns you if a template with the same name already exists, giving you the option to overwrite.
• Client users can submit their completed workpaper for auditor review from the task overview page. If the task is already in review, they can return it to To Do.

Other Improvements

• Keyboard shortcut for task search. Press Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on Mac) on the engagement board to open the search bar without clicking the icon.
• Edited comments are now marked. Comments that have been modified show an "Edited" label; hovering over it shows the exact date and time of the last edit.
• Drag files directly onto the engagement library panel to upload without opening the file picker dialog.
• ZIP files uploaded to the engagement library are automatically extracted — each file inside is added as a separate document.

Tick Mark Improvements

• Combined footing/crossfooting badges in exported PDFs: When a number carries both a footing tick mark and a crossfooting tick mark, the annotated PDF now displays them together as a single badge (e.g. "F-1·CF-2") rather than printing one on top of the other. Exception marks appear before validation marks within the badge, consistent with the order shown on the cover sheet.
• Comment icon placement fixed: Comment icons in annotated PDFs now correctly sit beside wider combined tick mark badges without overlapping them.

Manual Annotation Tick Mark Controls

Clicking a lasso-drawn annotation on the PDF now opens the same context menu used by auto-detected numbers. From this menu you can apply tick marks, toggle between Suggested and Confirmed, remove an association, or delete the annotation entirely — the same controls, in the same place, for both detected and hand-drawn annotations.

Math Footing Calculator

Sign (+/−) changes now stick. Toggling a number's polarity in the footing panel would revert to the original sign on the next load. The toggle is now saved correctly.

Pressing Escape cancels a Stated Result edit. Previously, pressing Escape while typing in the Stated Result field committed the in-progress value instead of discarding it. Escape now restores the original value, as expected.

Stated Result is editable in automatic footing mode. Auditors can now correct an OCR-read Stated Result — such as a misread sign — when working in automatic mode, not only in manual mode.

European-formatted numbers calculate correctly in manual footing. Numbers using dots as thousand separators (for example, TEUR format 153.063) were misread as decimal values, producing incorrect sums. Manual footing now interprets these numbers the same way automatic mode does.

Operand order follows document reading order. Numbers in the footing panel now appear left-to-right within each row. Column crossfootings sort right-to-left across the page, matching the direction auditors naturally work.

Unreadable OCR values are clearly flagged. When document processing cannot interpret a number, the footing panel now shows an amber "Enter value" prompt instead of silently defaulting to zero — making it obvious where manual input is required.

Validation errors in the footing panel are now visible. Error messages (such as "Please enter a valid number") now appear as on-screen alerts. They were previously silent.

Reliability

Large multi-sheet Excel files now process successfully. Files with many sheets and a high volume of cells were previously causing the processing job to exhaust available memory, failing the entire upload. These files now complete processing without issue.

Bug Fixes

• Clicking a citation that references a different file now works correctly. If you were viewing one document and clicked a citation pill pointing to a different source file, the cited document failed to open. This is now fixed — clicking any citation pill switches to and highlights the correct source document, regardless of which file you were previously viewing. This applies to Word and Excel documents in addition to PDFs.

• Citation pills in certain workpaper cells now resolve correctly. Some citations in workpaper cells appeared as broken, unresolved references rather than clickable pills. These now correctly display as clickable pills and navigate to the cited page in the source document when clicked.

• Agentive-generated Excel workbooks are now consistently recognized by the Excel add-in. Workbooks produced by Agentive's AI automation are now always compatible with the Agentive Excel add-in when opened on your desktop, even if no citations were added.

Document Viewer

• Consistent empty state when no file is associated: Clicking a cell that has no linked document now shows a clear message — "No file selected" (with a prompt to pick one from the panel below) or "No files uploaded to this datasource yet" (with an upload shortcut) — instead of auto-loading an unrelated file from the datasource.
• Visual marker for rows without a matched document: In datasources where some rows didn't receive a matched document, the extraction cells for those rows now show a blue dash on a gray background, making it immediately clear that AI extraction won't run on that row.
• Viewer panel width no longer jumps: The document viewer holds its width as you move between different cell types — no more resizing when switching from a match cell to a retrieval cell and back.

Cell Detail Panel

• Section state remembered as you navigate: Collapsing a section (Answer, Reasoning, Activity, and others) now keeps it collapsed as you move between cells in the same session. Reloading the page resets everything back to fully expanded.
• Tick mark cells always reachable: Cells that have a tick mark applied but no associated document now correctly show the Cell tab, so you can view or update the applied tick mark without it disappearing.

Shared Document Groups

• Per-task matching mode: When multiple workpapers share a document group, each workpaper can now independently choose AI matching or Custom Rules matching — changing the setting in one workpaper no longer affects the others.
• Automatic ownership transfer: If the workpaper that originally created a shared document group stops using it, ownership automatically passes to another workpaper still using the group so it stays accessible with no disruption.
• Switching groups preserves settings and workflow: When you replace an attached shared document group with a different one, the current workpaper's matching configuration carries over and any connected downstream datasources are automatically re-linked — the workflow diagram stays intact.
• Full access for importing workpapers: Workpapers that share an existing document group can now comment on cells, change matching mode, and trigger runs — previously some of these actions silently applied to the original owner workpaper instead.
• Workflow diagram arrows always visible: Parent-to-child arrows now appear correctly for all datasources regardless of which matching mode each one is configured with.

AI & Testing Attributes

• Collective testing attribute results corrected: Testing attribute columns set to Collective mode now correctly produce one shared pass/fail verdict for the entire record group rather than one result per record.
• Testing attributes on document-only datasources: Testing attribute columns now run correctly on datasources that contain only uploaded files (with no parent table), producing one result row per uploaded file.

New

• Automatic fiscal year detection: When you run Prior Year Consistency, the pipeline now reads the cover pages of your uploaded CY and PY documents to identify the correct fiscal year automatically. This means PY Consistency runs against the right year even when the engagement's audit period hasn't been configured. If the documents don't contain a clear dating phrase, the pipeline falls back to the engagement period as before — and replaces the auto-detected period whenever you swap out the uploaded files.

• Editable "Current year end" date in Prior Year sidebar: The fiscal year-end date used for PY Consistency is now visible and editable directly at the top of the Prior Year sidebar. You can correct the auto-detected date when needed. Clearing it re-enables automatic detection on the next run, and an info tooltip explains what the date controls.

• Combined IC + PY tick marks in exported PDFs: When a number carries both an Internal Consistency and a Prior Year tick mark, the exported PDF now shows them as a single readable label (e.g., "PY-7·IC-3") rather than two overlapping marks that hide each other.

Improved

• IC groupings are more precise: Numbers are now grouped only when they represent the same financial fact — same concept, same period, and same scope. Figures that appear in adjacent comparative columns (the same line item in different years) are correctly kept as separate items rather than surfaced as potential tie-outs.

• Empty subsections show "None" instead of blank headers: In the IC, Prior Year, and F/CF sidebars, subsections with no items now display a muted "None" label. It's immediately clear that the section has been reviewed and found clean, rather than leaving an empty collapsible header that appears to have content.

• Shared document group confirmation is now inline: Replacing a shared document group with another now shows a single inline summary of what will change — including which task will handle client uploads going forward — without opening a separate modal.

• Export error files include clear next steps: When a multi-file PDF export fails for one or more files, the error file inside the downloaded ZIP now opens with plain instructions for what to do, including a ready-to-copy message you can send directly to support.

Fixed

• "Check all" and "Flag all" buttons in IC and PY sidebars now work: Clicking Check on the Consistent bucket or Flag on the Flagged bucket was silently doing nothing. Both buttons now correctly approve and confirm the relevant suggested items.

• Prior Year loading indicator no longer spins indefinitely: After running or re-running Prior Year Consistency, the loading spinner in the sidebar clears as expected once the run finishes.

• PDF export correctly reports partial failures: When exporting multiple annotated PDFs and some files fail, the notification now reads "Export completed with errors" (or "Export failed" if all files failed) instead of incorrectly showing a success message.

• "Run everything" correctly identifies columns that have never been run: The run modal now properly recognizes new custom columns that haven't been executed yet, so the option to fill empty cells is available as expected.

• Activity summary emails deliver reliably: Fixed a bug where certain removed tasks could cause the daily activity summary email to fail to send.

• Shared document group data stays isolated to your task: In workpapers using shared document groups, certain data panels now correctly show only the current task's entries rather than mixing in entries from other tasks that share the same group.

Shared Document Groups

• Smarter import flow when client requests are involved: Switching a document group to a different shared source now handles every combination of client-upload ownership with the right confirmation experience. When both the current and target groups are owned as client requests by different tasks, a dedicated dialog appears — showing which task currently handles client uploads, what files will be affected, and what happens to client upload routing — before you confirm.
• See exactly which files will be permanently deleted before switching: When switching to a different shared document group would permanently remove files, the panel now shows the exact file count upfront. The confirm button stays disabled while this check runs, so you can never accidentally confirm before the full impact is visible.
• "Import document group" toggle: The toggle in the document group editor panel is now labeled "Import document group" when the group is standalone, and "Shared document group" once sharing is active, making its current state clearer at a glance.

EU and German Document Accuracy

• Fixed: EU financial values ending in zero cents were being dropped: In EU-format tables — such as German balance sheets — values whose cents ended in zero (for example, 15.375,50 or 16.991,00) were being silently excluded during extraction. This affected roughly 30% of numbers in affected tables, causing footings to fail and numbers to appear missing. These values now extract correctly.
• Fixed: prior-year comparisons could mis-route for round amounts: A related issue caused the year-over-year comparison logic to silently treat all values as equal for certain round figures, which could misdirect reconciliations across periods. This is now resolved.
• German section references and legal citations no longer treated as financial numbers: German document markers — such as "Anlage 3", "Kapitel 5", "§ 322 HGB", and numbered headings — are now correctly excluded from financial number extraction, reducing noise in AI analysis on German audit reports.
• German fixed asset schedules no longer incorrectly combined: The system was sometimes merging separate sections of a fixed asset schedule (Anlagespiegel) that document different financial events — for example, acquisition costs on one page and accumulated depreciation on another — into a single table, dropping data in the process. These sections now remain separate.
• Fewer false inconsistency flags on comparative-period columns: The inconsistency checker was occasionally raising exception marks on comparative-period columns based solely on shared row position, even when the values are expected to differ across periods. This has been corrected.
• Improved extraction for EU headerless and multi-block schedules: Table extraction quality improved for EU-format financial statements that span multiple sections without standard column headers.

Processing Reliability

• PDFs with complex graphics now process reliably: PDFs containing many vector-graphic elements — such as diagrams or heavily formatted pages — were causing OCR processing to fail entirely for that file. These files now process normally, with all text and numbers extracted as expected.
