Features

• Higher-capability AI at Max reasoning. For eligible users, selecting the Max effort level in the CoAudit AI model picker now runs on a more powerful model — no extra menu entries or separate option to find. The picker looks the same; the Max rung silently upgrades the engine for those with access.

• Write approval dock in web chat. When the AI pauses to ask for your approval before writing to a workpaper cell, the confirmation now appears as a full-width dock anchored to the message composer in the CoAudit web interface — the same consolidated experience previously available only in the Excel add-in.

Bug Fixes

• Saved model preference holds while the picker loads. A chat conversation saved with a specific AI model no longer briefly switches to a different model (or another chat's preference) while the available options are loading on re-open — it waits for the correct model to resolve and then restores your saved choice.

• Multiple Excel workbooks no longer interfere with each other's sign-in. Opening Punchcard in more than one workbook simultaneously no longer causes the workbooks to share or overwrite each other's sign-in state; each pane signs in and operates independently.

• Save As in Excel preserves add-in context. Saving your workbook under a new filename no longer causes the add-in to lose track of which workbook it is attached to — the connection carries over correctly after the rename.

Bug Fixes

• Command picker displays in the right place in the Excel and Word Add-ins — the slash command menu was appearing at an incorrect position when used inside the add-in panel. It now anchors reliably to the correct spot on screen regardless of the surrounding layout.
• Clearer dismiss behavior for the command picker — pressing Escape now permanently closes the picker until you type / again. Clicking outside or switching focus temporarily hides it; your next keystroke in the same search brings it back automatically, matching how it works on the main web app.
• Slash command suggestion menus close cleanly — menus that appeared after typing / now dismiss properly when no longer needed, and outdated suggestions no longer linger in the composer footer.

What's new

Skill library now available in the Excel add-in

Firm-saved and personal saved prompts are now accessible directly from the CoAudit pane in Excel. Browse your firm's authoring conventions, invoke prompts with @-mentions, or save new ones — without switching to the web app.

Approval controls redesigned for clarity and speed

Several improvements to how CoAudit presents pending actions for your review:

• "Approve all" now settles every pending action in one click. Previously, certain actions (file deletions, moves, patches that merge cells or clear evidence) were excluded and required one-by-one handling. They're now included. What each action will do — "merges cells," "clears evidence," "clears reasoning" — is stated in plain text on each row and in the strip summary so you know exactly what you're authorizing before clicking. All confirm buttons are consistently blue; the nature of the action is communicated in words, not button color.

• Each pending action has its own quick Approve button. Alongside the existing Skip button on each collapsed row, a matching Approve button lets you settle individual actions without expanding the card.

• Clickable cell-reference badges show where CoAudit will write. Each pending write displays cell-reference pills (e.g., "B5:D12 · 18 cells"). Clicking one selects that range in your workbook so you can inspect the target area before approving — nothing changes until you confirm. When any pending write lacks a sheet qualifier, all badges become plain text so a navigation click can't accidentally retarget a waiting write to the wrong sheet.

• Applied-writes summary after each AI turn. Once CoAudit finishes writing, an "Applied N cells in M writes" line appears with clickable badges for each range — a quick way to see and navigate to everything that just landed.

• Approval cards no longer get permanently stuck. On some machines, reading the workbook before showing the Approve/Decline buttons could stall indefinitely, leaving the card unresponsive with no way out. After a short wait, decision buttons now become available regardless, with a clear note describing what approving will do.

Performance

• Citations highlight faster after CoAudit writes. When CoAudit fills in multiple cited cells at once, all citation highlights now resolve together in a single request rather than sequentially. On a heavily cited grid this is the difference between highlights appearing in seconds versus a minute or more.

• Workbook writes complete faster for large batches. CoAudit now groups multiple cell writes, format loads, and container saves into fewer Excel round-trips. Larger workpaper fills — especially those spanning many rows or columns — complete noticeably faster.

Bug fixes

• Numbers now land as numbers. When CoAudit writes a value like "5000," it now correctly becomes a number in Excel — picked up by SUM formulas, sortable, and format-aware — rather than text that formulas skip.
• Dates written to date-formatted columns become proper Excel dates. A date string written to a column already formatted as a date (or declared with a date format) now converts to an Excel date value — sortable and formula-compatible — rather than quote-prefixed text.
• Lasso dates from Excel sources write as proper date values. When you Lasso-select a date from an Excel or CSV source, the captured date now writes to your workbook as an Excel date in your locale's format, rather than as a text string.
• No more false "overwrites existing data" warning for dates. CoAudit was incorrectly flagging a write as destructive when re-sending a date that already matched what was in the cell. Re-sending the same date is now correctly recognized as a no-op.
• Import retry stays available in the Files view. The option to retry a failed document import was disappearing when you were on the Files tab; it now remains accessible.
• Current view is preserved when importing context. Importing a context no longer navigates away from whichever view (Files, Documents, Viewer) you were on.

CoAudit: Approve multiple AI-proposed changes in one step

When CoAudit proposes two or more changes to your spreadsheet — for example, filling in a schedule or populating a set of fields — those changes now appear as a compact, scrollable list instead of stacked individual cards.

• "Approve all" stays pinned in view: A summary strip anchored at the bottom of the list shows how many writes are pending and how many cells are affected ("3 writes · 12 cells · one click covers all"). It stays visible regardless of how many items are in the list — only the rows above it scroll.
• One-click approval for routine writes: Click Approve all to accept every standard value write in a single step. Each item in the list can also be expanded individually to review the before-and-after detail and approved or skipped on its own.
• Before-and-after always visible on expand: Opening a collapsed change row now reliably shows what the cell currently contains and what CoAudit will write — this preview was hidden in certain cases before.
• Bulk approval waits for full disclosure: The Approve all button only becomes active once every change that touches an existing cell value has fully loaded its before-and-after preview. You can only bulk-approve changes you have actually been shown.
• Changes that can't be undone stay separate: Any action that permanently removes data — such as clearing audit notes or evidence — is excluded from Approve all and appears as its own item labeled "needs review," requiring an individual decision.
• Clearer button style: The button to approve a routine data overwrite is now blue, consistent with standard confirm actions. Red is reserved for changes that permanently delete or clear content.

Excel workbook chat reliability

• First message in a new workbook chat now behaves correctly: Sending your first message right after opening a workbook chat could previously result in each approval appearing one at a time with pauses in between, instead of all together. This is now resolved.

New Features

• Document search now works in Excel and Word files — a search button in the viewer header opens the same tiered search panel for Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, and Word documents that was previously available only for PDFs. Exact text matches surface with neighboring cell context (for spreadsheets) or surrounding lines (for PDFs), and semantically related results appear in a "Related by Topic" section below. Scope your search to the open file, its document group, all files in the task, or your full engagement library.

• "Cite" draw mode — a new Cite option in the draw mode menu lets you annotate which part of a document supports a cell value without overwriting the value itself. Lasso remains available when you want to extract text directly into the cell.

• My Engagements header stays pinned while scrolling — on the home page, the "My Engagements" title and filter chips now pin to the top of the screen as you scroll through your engagement list, so your selected filters and engagement count stay visible at all times.

• Navigate to any document directly from the viewer — the filename at the top of the document viewer now opens a full list of every document group in the task, letting you jump to any file without returning to the file explorer.

Improvements

• Excel files render with full formatting — Excel (.xlsx) files now display frozen panes, merged cells, conditional formatting, charts, and images as they appear in the original spreadsheet. Files up to 100 MB are supported. CSV files use a dedicated grid viewer.

• Zoom controls and sheet tabs in Excel and CSV viewers — zoom in/out and sheet navigation (for multi-sheet workbooks) are now available directly in all spreadsheet viewers, consistent with the PDF viewer.

• "Lasso" replaces "By Individual Cell" in the draw mode menu — the draw mode previously labeled "By Individual Cell" is now called "Lasso," matching the terminology in the Excel add-in.

Bug Fixes

• European-format dates display and export correctly — dates written in day-first format (e.g., "10.07.2023" meaning 10 July) now appear and export correctly when your firm is configured for DD.MM.YYYY. Previously, ambiguous dates with a day value of 12 or under could show the day and month transposed, both on screen and in exported files.

• Clicking cell references in the Excel add-in no longer jumps the spreadsheet's selection — in the Excel add-in, clicking an inline cell reference in the reasoning panel now marks that reference as "Viewing" and shows an explicit "Open →" button for navigation, rather than silently moving Excel's active cell.

• Drawing over very large areas now shows a prompt instead of freezing — selecting an oversized region with Lasso, Cite, or Sum now shows a message asking you to draw a smaller range, instead of causing the viewer to become unresponsive.

• Draw modes no longer accidentally capture unintended regions — Lasso, Cite, and Sum no longer commit evidence when clicking column headers, chart areas, or viewer controls; only intentional cell selections are captured.

Evidence viewer — image files

• Photos and screenshots open at a readable size — image files now display at a comfortable width in the evidence viewer, matching how PDF documents look. Previously, a high-resolution phone photo could render far too large to read, while a small screenshot could appear too small.
• Portrait photos display upright — photos taken in portrait orientation now appear correctly in the viewer instead of landing on their side.
• Citation highlights and lasso boxes land on the right region — when you draw a lasso or CoAudit places a citation on an image file, the highlighted area now aligns with the actual content. Previously, highlights on image files were positioned far outside the visible page.
• In-document search highlights work on image files — when CoAudit searches within an image, matching regions are now highlighted in the correct location.
• TIFF files show a clear explanation — opening a TIFF file in the evidence viewer now displays a message explaining that this file type cannot be previewed inline, with a prompt to download the file instead of showing an error.

Excel and Word add-in

• Workbook references display a link chip — when CoAudit's reasoning includes a reference to a cell or range in the workbook, it now shows a small "↗" chip next to the linked value, making it clear the reference is a live workbook link rather than plain text.
• Hovering a workbook citation card moves Excel's selection — moving your pointer over a workbook citation in the cell detail panel temporarily highlights the referenced cell or range in the spreadsheet, making it easy to see where the citation points. When you move the pointer away, the selection returns to where it was.
• Hovering a citation does not dismiss active error messages — briefly moving the pointer over a workbook citation no longer clears an error message that was already visible in the panel.
• Citation ledger stays accurate after CoAudit updates reasoning — when CoAudit rewrites a cell's reasoning, the citation list in the detail panel now reflects only the references in the updated text. Removed references are cleaned up automatically; the panel no longer accumulates outdated entries over time.
• New users no longer get stuck after signing in — auditors signing in to the Excel or Word add-in for the very first time no longer encounter a "sign out and back in to finish" screen. The add-in now waits silently for your account to be fully recognized and proceeds automatically.

Workpaper sampling

• Monetary Unit Sampling shows guidance when no numeric columns exist — if you choose Monetary Unit Sampling for a population that contains only text columns, the Amount Column selector now shows a clear message explaining what is needed and how to proceed, instead of displaying a blank dropdown with no options.

Bug Fixes

• Excel & Word add-in — sign-in loop for new accounts: Fixed an issue where a user whose account had just been activated could get stuck in an unescapable cycle: the add-in would show a sign-in pop-up, the pop-up would detect a valid session and close itself automatically, then the whole sequence would repeat. Affected accounts now move directly into the add-in after sign-in. If a session has genuinely lapsed, the add-in displays a clear prompt to sign out and back in — no loop.

Workpapers

• Workpaper numbers are always unique: Two team members creating workpapers at nearly the same moment no longer get assigned the same number. Each task now receives a unique sequential workpaper number regardless of how quickly tasks are created back-to-back.

CoAudit Excel & Word Add-in

• Hover-to-cell shortcut restored: Hovering over a cell reference in CoAudit for Excel now jumps the spreadsheet to that cell so you can see the source data while your pointer rests there, then returns to your previous selection when you move away. This behavior was inadvertently removed in a recent update and is now back.
• First-time sign-in no longer requires signing out and back in: New users completing their very first sign-in no longer land on a screen asking them to sign out and sign back in. The add-in now handles the initial account setup automatically and brings you straight to your work.
• "Try the EU region" suggestion appears only when it would actually help: The option to switch to the EU region during sign-in now appears only when your firm might genuinely be on the EU cluster — it no longer shows up during a first-time sign-in delay or an email verification step.
• Signing in again after a failed attempt works cleanly: If a sign-in attempt doesn't complete, signing in again now always shows the full account chooser, preventing a stuck state from the previous attempt.
• "Update available" refresh is smarter and more resilient: Clicking Refresh when an update is ready now confirms the new version is available to serve before reloading. If a deploy is still in progress, the add-in shows progress and retries automatically — rather than opening a browser tab or appearing to do nothing. The prompt also automatically clears if the update is no longer needed (for example, after a rollback).

Platform

• Automation progress updates are more reliable: Automation progress is now reported correctly even immediately after the server restarts, closing a window where progress notifications could be silently lost.
• CoAudit chat citation lookups are more resilient: Brief connectivity hiccups no longer cause citation lookups in CoAudit chat to fail — the request recovers automatically without any action needed.

Excel and CSV Evidence Citing

Lasso, Cite, and Sum now work on Excel and CSV source files in the Office add-in, not just PDFs and images. When the active source document is a spreadsheet, each tool draws on the underlying cell values — so the precision you see in the source workbook is exactly what gets captured, with no OCR involved.

• Sum on a spreadsheet selection inserts a signed formula (e.g. =1000+250-300) into the target cell, keeping the arithmetic transparent in Excel's formula bar. If a selection contains more than 200 numeric cells, the tool declines with a clear message rather than silently using a partial figure.
• Lasso on a single spreadsheet cell writes the workbook's exact underlying value — the actual number behind a formatted display such as a percentage or a rounded figure.
• Date-formatted cells are automatically excluded from numeric operations regardless of how they display.

Lasso Numeric Accuracy

Several improvements make Lasso more accurate when interpreting values from PDF and image sources:

• Accounting-style negatives — parenthesized amounts like (500) and currency-prefixed variants like USD (500) — are now correctly written as negative numbers.
• Space-grouped numbers common in European documents (e.g. 1 043,50) are recognized as numeric rather than treated as text.
• Prose containing digits (reference codes, names with numbers) is no longer misread as a numeric value and written into the cell.

Citation UI Improvements

• Inline citations and the Citations ledger stay in sync: hovering an inline citation pill in the Reasoning section highlights the matching card in the Citations ledger, and hovering the card lights up the inline pill — both surfaces always reflect the same state.
• "Viewing" takes priority immediately: when you click a citation to commit the evidence viewer to it, the card badge switches to "Viewing" right away, even while the pointer is still resting on the card.
• Hovering a citation in Reasoning peeks the source in the evidence viewer after a short pause rather than showing a pop-up card — consistent with how the Citations ledger cards already behaved.

PDF Search

Pressing Enter in the PDF search bar now advances to the next result instead of restarting the search from the beginning. Shift+Enter moves to the previous match.

Fixes

• Citation drawing errors are now always visible — if the details panel was closed when a drawing was refused, the error was hidden; it now appears in all panel states.
• The workpaper Run button no longer gets stuck disabled after an automation finishes or when a run was started from a different session; it recovers automatically.
• Large file deletions now complete reliably — files with extensive OCR data could previously time out during deletion, leaving the file apparently stuck.
• Deleting a workpaper column with many values no longer fails for large columns.
• Multi-file ZIP downloads now place all files at the top level of the archive correctly, regardless of special characters in file names.

New in the Excel Add-in

• Inspectable sum formulas in the formula bar. When you use the sum lasso to cite and total values, the add-in now writes a live formula (e.g., =1000+250−300) to the cell instead of just the computed result. The arithmetic stays visible and verifiable directly in Excel's formula bar.
• Download files from the Files panel. The Files panel now includes a Download option in the bulk-actions menu. Select one or more evidence files and download them as a single zip — no need to leave the task pane or switch to the web app.

Fixes

• Mac Excel downloads now save correctly. Selecting a file and clicking Save in Finder sometimes completed without writing anything to disk. Downloads now land on disk reliably on Mac.
• Downloaded zips now extract on Windows when file names contain special characters. Evidence files with names like Q1: revenue?.pdf or Windows-reserved names now extract cleanly on Windows machines instead of failing silently at extraction.
• Duplicate file names in a zip are no longer dropped. When multiple selected files share the same name, each one is now preserved in the zip with a disambiguated name.
• Download failures now surface an error message. Previously, if a download encountered a problem, nothing happened and no feedback was shown. You'll now see a clear error so you know to try again.
• Sum cells with very many operands no longer get stuck. In rare cases where a citation list was too long to fit as a formula, the cell could be left with a stale formula that Excel refused to accept. It now falls back to showing the correct numeric total instead.

Excel Add-in

New and improved

• Hover to preview citations without losing your place: Moving the pointer over a citation card in the evidence panel now shows a transient document overlay. Your current document's scroll position, zoom, and search state stay exactly as you left them — the preview simply appears on top. Move the pointer away and it disappears. Clicking a card still permanently navigates the viewer to that citation. The "Peeking" label on the hovered card confirms which preview is showing.

• CoAudit notices when you edit cells between turns: When you change workbook cells after a CoAudit message, the next reply automatically includes context about which ranges changed. CoAudit can reason about your edits without you needing to explain them — useful for sessions where you're working through the spreadsheet alongside the AI.

• Approval cards now lead with the AI's intent: When CoAudit proposes a write action, the card's headline is the AI's plain-language description of what it's doing — for example, "Fill in the recalculated March totals." The full cell-by-cell detail is still available and still runs behind the scenes to power the Apply button and safety checks, but the card face gives you the summary at a glance. Top-level approval prompts appear over the message input, not nested inside the conversation.

• "Copy info for support" in the chat menu: The ⋯ menu in the CoAudit chat header now includes a Copy info for support option for all users. Clicking it copies a formatted diagnostic summary you can paste directly into a support email.

Fixed

• White text on CoAudit-authored table headers: When CoAudit wrote header or total rows in a spreadsheet, the result was sometimes white text on a white background — unreadable. Header and total rows now use a proper blue fill with white text, matching standard table styling. Review-state highlights on cited cells are always preserved and unaffected by table formatting.

• Workbook cross-references in reasoning now render correctly: When CoAudit's reasoning references other cells or ranges in the workbook, those references now appear as clickable pills — click to select those cells, hover to preview them. Previously they appeared as raw syntax in the text.

• Cells cited from the workbook no longer show "No match found": Cells whose evidence comes from other cells in the workbook — for example, a "Traced – agree" conclusion citing figures from elsewhere in the spreadsheet — no longer incorrectly display the red "No match found" banner.

• Selecting a cited cell opens evidence immediately: Switching to a cited cell while the Documents list or a bulk-selection view was active now navigates directly to the citation evidence, without prompting you to confirm.

• Excel pane no longer flickers on open: Removed the visible screen flicker that occurred when opening or resizing the task pane on Windows desktop Excel.

• Reasoning in the evidence panel is read-only: The click-to-edit reasoning field and "Add reasoning" button have been removed from the cell detail panel. CoAudit writes and updates reasoning through its own tools; the panel now displays it as read-only text. Inline citation links and workbook cross-references in the reasoning remain interactive.

Chat

• Status indicator hidden when everything is healthy: The connection status dot in the message composer footer now only appears when a problem is detected — amber when reconnecting, red when disconnected. When all connections are working normally, the indicator is not shown.

Financial Statement Review

• Internal Consistency step shows a live completion count: The FSR progress card now displays a running tally during the Internal Consistency step — for example, "14 / 87 groups checked" — so you can see how far along the check is on large financial statements. The math step is labeled Recalculation in the progress card.

• Internal Consistency completes reliably on large documents: Several issues were causing the Internal Consistency step to fail partway through on large financial statements. These are now resolved.

• Internal Consistency analysis runs faster: The analysis step that powers Internal Consistency now handles large financial statements significantly faster.

Reliability

• Fixed a crash on direct page navigation: Going directly to a page URL (rather than navigating within the app) could crash the sidebar in some situations. This is fixed.

Excel Add-in: Conversation and Navigation

• Workbook conversation memory: CoAudit in Excel now automatically resumes your last conversation each time you reopen a workbook. Each workbook maintains its own independent conversation thread — opening two workbooks side-by-side keeps two separate, unentangled chats.
• Conversation history popover: The chat header now shows the current conversation title. Clicking it opens a date-grouped history list (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Older) covering conversations from both Excel and Word sessions for the engagement — so moving between your workpaper and a Word narrative shows one combined timeline.
• Viewer breadcrumb navigation: The file and folder labels in the document viewer header are now clickable pickers. Clicking the filename shows the other files in the same group so you can switch without going back to the Files tab; clicking the folder label opens the full document group browser to jump anywhere.
• Manage Document Groups opens in a wider separate window: Instead of taking over the task pane, the Document Groups manager now opens in a dedicated window with more room to work. On workbooks not yet linked to an engagement, the window includes an engagement selector so you can link and start importing without leaving it.
• Citation links open the viewer reliably: Clicking a numbered citation reference in an Excel add-in chat response now consistently opens the document viewer at the cited page and highlights the relevant passage — even when the Files tab was previously open.

CoAudit Chat

• Citations are always on: The toggle for enabling or disabling PDF citation highlights has been removed. When document context is present, citations are always active — no switch to manage.
• Workbook write approval cards show changes by default: When CoAudit asks for approval before writing to the workbook, the full list of cell-by-cell changes is now shown immediately so you can review exactly what will be written before confirming.

Skills

• All users can change a skill's audience: Non-admin users can now switch a skill's visibility between Personal and Firm. Previously the audience selector appeared interactive but did nothing for non-admins on existing skills. Promoting a skill to the firm still requires a confirmation step; the Punchcard-wide global option remains admin-only.

Bug Fixes

• Citation highlights work for possessives and apostrophes: Citation highlights now correctly resolve for words like "employees'" and "participants'" as well as contractions. Previously these could fail to highlight or land on an unrelated passage in the document.
• Task descriptions no longer cleared on open: A bug that could silently overwrite a task's written description the moment the task page opened has been fixed. Task descriptions now load and display without risk of accidental erasure.
• Smoother sidebar transitions in the Excel add-in: Opening, closing, expanding, and collapsing the document sidebar no longer causes a brief blank flash. Content remains visible throughout the transition.

CoAudit works in Office on the web

The CoAudit by Punchcard add-in now works in browser-based Excel and Word — opened through office.com, SharePoint, or OneDrive. Previously, signing in through the Office web app would result in a redirect loop; the add-in now authenticates correctly in browser-hosted workbooks, giving you the full CoAudit experience without needing the desktop app.

• When sign-in cannot complete — for example, in private or incognito windows, or in browser configurations that block third-party cookies — a clear "Sign-in could not complete" screen now explains the issue and provides a Try again link, instead of a confusing browser error page.

Excel add-in: recovery when Office stops responding during load

If Excel refuses or stops responding while the CoAudit pane is starting up, the pane now detects the failure within 15 seconds and shows a recovery screen instead of staying blank.

• The recovery screen names exactly which step failed and whether Excel refused the request or stopped responding — so you know what happened and what to do next.
• The screen confirms that your citations and sign-offs in the workbook were not changed.
• A Try again button re-runs the complete pane startup so you can recover without restarting Excel.
• While waiting, a CoAudit chat opens beneath the recovery screen so you can continue asking questions even when the workbook is temporarily unreachable.

Fixes

• On shared Office profiles, signing out now clears CoAudit chat history so the next user starts from a clean state rather than seeing the previous user's conversation.

Features

• Redesigned Citations panel in Excel: The cell detail panel now shows a numbered Citations ledger — each source appears as a card with a document group › file breadcrumb, the full quoted text, and status chips. You can reorder cards by dragging the ordinal handle or using arrow keys, and designate any citation as the Primary — the one that opens automatically when you click a cited cell. Workbook cross-references appear as their own cards, showing the live cell address and a live preview on hover.

• Value-first inline links in Reasoning: AI-authored reasoning now renders cited values as clickable, underlined links (for example, "$1,234,567") that jump directly to the relevant page in the source document. Hover over a workbook cross-reference in the reasoning text to preview the referenced cells; click to navigate to them.

• Browse the full document group tree when uploading files: Dropping files into the Excel add-in now opens the complete engagement document tree so you can pick any group as the upload destination — or create a new task or group on the spot. Dropped files appear immediately as in-progress rows under the chosen group, a live counter shows how many have uploaded ("2 of 5"), and the surface auto-closes and lands you directly inside the uploaded group once processing is complete.

• Create a new task from the document management surface: A new icon in the document group manager lets you add a task without leaving the surface.

Improvements

• Copy-paste now carries reasoning: Copying a cited cell and pasting it elsewhere now brings the full reasoning text along with the citations. Previously only citations transferred, leaving any inline references in the reasoning with nothing to resolve against.

• Evidence cleans up when you edit cells: Deleting a cell or pasting over a cited cell now automatically removes its citations and reasoning so no orphaned evidence lingers. Editing a cell's value in place leaves its evidence untouched.

• More reliable processing for complex Financial Statement Review files: Files with a large number of sections are no longer prone to timing out during processing.

Bug Fixes

• Moving cited cells no longer destroys their evidence: Cutting and pasting a block of cited cells now correctly relocates the citations and reasoning to the destination instead of deleting them.

• Failed uploads no longer lock the document picker: If an upload fails, the document picker recovers immediately and becomes fully usable again.

What's new

CoAudit connection status indicator

A small status dot now appears in the CoAudit chat composer, next to the model picker. It shows at a glance whether CoAudit is connected (green), reconnecting (amber), or unreachable (red). Hovering the dot reveals which service is affected and how much time remains on your current session. The dot only appears once the session is active — it won't show on the login screen or when no task is open.

Improvements

Excel and Word add-in — more resilient sessions

The CoAudit pane now handles session expiry and brief connection drops without requiring a manual sign-out and sign-in. All connection types inside the pane — chat, automations, citation lookups, and progress updates — automatically re-establish themselves when the session refreshes or a connection drops mid-use. A transient server hiccup also no longer ejects the pane to the system browser with a forced login; the add-in now holds in place and shows a manual sign-in option instead.

PDF citation highlights in the add-in pane

When CoAudit cites a source document in the Excel or Word pane's chat, the cited region now highlights reliably in the evidence viewer. Previously, citation lookups in the pane could fail silently, leaving highlights missing and causing CoAudit to re-quote the same passage repeatedly.

Bug fixes

Workpaper column type — "Set as Testing Attribute" now saves correctly

Changing a workpaper column's type to Testing Attribute (or any other type from the column menu) now persists correctly. Previously the change appeared to apply but reverted silently — reopening the column menu showed the original type as if nothing had changed.

My Engagements

The home page now opens to a My Engagements panel listing every active engagement you belong to, ordered by most recent activity. Each row shows:

• Attention indicators — overdue tasks, outstanding requests, and unanswered client questions, with the age of the oldest item so you know where to focus first.
• Completion progress — the percentage of the engagement's work marked done.
• Last-activity chiclet — who acted last (Team or Client) and a relative timestamp; a pulsing dot marks activity within the past hour.

Three filter chips narrow the list to engagements needing your attention, ready for review, or due this week. A text filter narrows further by client or engagement name without leaving the page.

Activity tray — clicking a row's chiclet expands an inline panel showing recent activity for that engagement. Attention items appear at the top so you can see exactly what is waiting; the rest of the activity stream follows, with "Show more" to load further history. Clicking a viewable document in the stream opens it directly in that task's file viewer.

Excluded files in the CoAudit Excel add-in

A permanent Excluded bucket has been added to the file list in the CoAudit Excel add-in. Right-click any file and choose "Exclude from this workbook," or drag it onto the Excluded section, to set it aside for this workbook's test only:

• CoAudit cannot see excluded files — the AI cannot list, read, or cite an excluded file while it is in this bucket.
• The exclusion is workbook-local: other workbooks, other team members, and the web app all see the file normally.
• Right-click an excluded file and choose "Restore to workbook" to undo the exclusion at any time.

Manage Document Groups — search, removal, and inline creation

The document group overlay is now called Manage Document Groups and handles the full lifecycle in one place:

• Groups already in the workbook arrive pre-checked — unticking a group queues it for removal; pending adds and removals are applied together when you save, with a confirmation step before any removal takes effect.
• Create groups inline — a ＋ New group button under each task creates a group immediately, ready to rename in place.
• Search — type to find groups by name (matches from the first character) or search document contents (3+ characters, semantic). Matching groups are highlighted in the tree; a results sidebar shows file-level snippets and snippets from within pages. Keyboard navigation (‹ ›) steps through all hits.
• Delete from the context menu — right-click a group to permanently remove it (if this is its only home) or detach it from this task only (if other tasks also hold it). A two-stage dialog shows exactly what will be affected before you confirm.

CoAudit approval cards dock above the chat input

Approval cards in the Excel add-in now appear directly above the chat input instead of covering the entire pane. Each card opens with a plain-language sentence from CoAudit describing what it is about to do — for example, "Fill in the recalculated March totals." When a write would overwrite existing data, a single Replace existing data button shows the number of affected cells; the decision is one click, not two.

If you switch to Documents or the viewer while an approval is pending, a slim notice remains visible with a "Show CoAudit" link to return and answer it.

File deletion shows who uploaded each file

When deleting files from the document manager, the confirmation dialog now lists files grouped by uploader — your own files first, then other team members alphabetically. Uploaders affiliated with a client organization are marked with an asterisk (*) so you can see whose files are in scope before confirming.

CoAudit add-in renamed

The Excel and Word add-ins now appear in Office as CoAudit by Punchcard, and the ribbon tab is labelled CoAudit (previously "Punchcard"). No other behavior has changed.

Pane width remembered

The CoAudit pane in Excel now remembers the width you last set and restores it the next time you open the pane, including after reopening the workbook.

Bug fixes

• Financial Statement Review — fixed a crash that could occur on the review page when navigating between tasks. The page is now stable under all workflows.
• Excel add-in pane layout — clicking a cell no longer rearranges a Documents view you had deliberately navigated to; the pane only adjusts automatically in cases that make sense given your last action.
• CoAudit writes — multi-line values written by CoAudit no longer automatically turn on text wrapping; wrapping is only applied when CoAudit explicitly chooses it for a column where it makes sense (such as narrative or comment columns).

Excel Add-in

• Open and start working immediately — no engagement link required at startup. The Excel add-in no longer blocks you with an engagement-link prompt when you first open a workbook. Chat, citation review, and cell work are all available right away with a slim banner you can act on when you're ready. Features that need an engagement (like importing documents) will ask you at the moment they're needed, with a short explanation of why.

• File deletions now include a short undo window. After confirming a file deletion, the rows disappear immediately and an Undo button appears for a few seconds. Clicking Undo cancels the deletion completely. The confirmation dialog now also clearly states that deletion removes the file from the entire engagement — including the web app — and that citations pointing to the deleted file will stop resolving.

• The Settings (gear) button now opens the engagement-link flow on an unbound workbook, giving you a proactive way to attach without waiting for a feature to prompt you.

• Ribbon buttons now close the pane when pressed a second time. Pressing CoAudit, Viewer, or Documents while already on that view closes the pane. Pressing a different ribbon button navigates directly to that view without extra steps.

• Document groups browser shows all tasks and groups in an expandable tree. The Add Document Groups picker now displays the full engagement tree at once — tasks expand to show their groups, groups expand to show a read-only file preview — rather than requiring you to drill into one level at a time.

• Clicking a file in the document manager opens it beside CoAudit. On wider panes, clicking a file in the document list now opens the document side by side with CoAudit, rather than replacing the chat view.

• Fixed: CoAudit no longer falsely reports that a range selection was cancelled. A bug caused CoAudit to say "the range selection was cancelled" even after you had successfully selected a range, prompting an unnecessary do-over. The selected range is now always honored correctly.

• Clicking a cited cell now reliably reopens the pane. Various edge cases where the pane would fail to reopen automatically after being manually closed have been resolved.

Financial Statement Review

• Prior Year: Opening balances now match their prior-year closing counterparts. In rollforward schedules (fixed-asset movements, debt, equity, and similar tables), opening-balance columns (e.g., "01.01.2025") are now correctly matched against the prior-year file's closing-balance columns (e.g., "31.12.2024"). These pairs were previously skipped entirely, leaving rollforward schedules with no prior-year tick marks.

• Prior Year: Column headings with currency units match across files regardless of formatting. Column headings that express the currency unit differently between files — for example "31.12.2024 / EUR" in one file and "31.12.2024 EUR" in another — are now recognized as the same column and correctly grouped for comparison.

• Prior Year: Category headings that span a full table page are no longer dropped. Fixed an issue where a section heading covering an entire table (common in German fixed-asset schedules, e.g., "Anschaffungs-/Herstellungskosten") was silently discarded during processing, causing the figures in that section to lose their column context and fail to match their prior-year counterparts.

• Recalculations: Add or remove individual values from AI-discovered relationships. Auditors can now add or remove operands in multiplication and division relationships detected by the AI — not just reorder them or change their operators. A change applies only to the specific cell you opened, leaving all other cells that share the same relationship template untouched.

Home

• My Engagements panel now shows per-engagement task progress. Each engagement row in the My Engagements panel now includes the number of tasks in review, tasks due in the next 7 days, overdue tasks, and a completion ratio (completed tasks out of all tasks). The due-soon count uses the same 7-day window as the suggestion chips at the top of the page.

CoAudit Workbook Approvals — Rebuilt

• Per-change diffs before you approve: when CoAudit wants to write to the workbook, the approval card now shows a row-by-row breakdown — the cell address (click it to jump there in Excel), what each cell will hold after the write, the current value shown struck through when it will be replaced, and CoAudit's stated reason.
• Explicit overwrite consent on the card: if a proposed write would replace existing data, a dedicated "Replace existing data" button appears so you can authorize it directly — no need to send CoAudit back to rephrase the same request.
• Safe writes proceed automatically: when CoAudit's writes are confirmed to fill only empty cells, the approval card is skipped entirely and the changes are applied without interruption.
• Impossible patches return automatically: if a proposed write genuinely cannot be applied (for example, it targets a range or worksheet that doesn't exist), it is automatically returned to CoAudit for revision — no dead card to dismiss.
• Partial write tracking: when a batch of writes partially succeeds, the resolved card clearly reports how many changes were applied and how many were skipped, and why.
• copy_range now uses the same overwrite protection: copying a range to an occupied destination now shows the same disclosure and requires the same explicit confirmation before replacing existing content — or auto-approves when the destination is empty.

Ask CoAudit — Redesigned Choice Cards

• Click to answer: for single-choice questions, clicking an option is the answer — no separate Submit step. The card advances to the next question or completes the batch automatically.
• Skip individual questions: a Skip button on each question lets you skip just that one while still answering the rest. The ✕ at the top right dismisses the entire card at once.
• Keyboard shortcuts: press 1–9 to pick the corresponding option directly, use arrow keys to move between choices, and ←/→ to page between batched questions.
• Streaming-safe: answering is blocked while CoAudit is still generating the option list, so you never answer against an incomplete set of choices.

Invite Dialogs — Outlook-Style Recipient Picker

• Chip-and-input recipient field: type or paste email addresses and they appear as removable chips. Paste an Outlook-style recipient list ("Display Name <email>") and names are preserved automatically.
• Autocomplete from your firm directory: start typing and matching firm members appear as suggestions with their name and email — click to add without typing the full address. The field is active immediately; you don't have to wait for suggestions to appear before entering addresses.
• "Add yourself" shortcut: your own name pins to the top of the suggestion list for one-click self-enrollment.
• Clear domain validation: addresses that don't pass your firm's domain check appear as red chips; click a red chip to restore the address to the input for correction. Chips entered before the directory finishes loading are automatically re-checked once it arrives.
• Client domain advisory: inviting clients from a different email domain than your existing client members shows a non-blocking warning so you can review before sending — the invite still proceeds.

Excel Add-in Improvements

• Live selection-context chip: when you have cells selected in Excel, a chip labeled with the range address (e.g., "N17:O18 selected") appears directly above the chat composer — so you always know exactly what selection will accompany your next message. Click × to exclude it from the outgoing message without changing your Excel selection.
• Cell-detail panel for uncited cells: the bottom panel now opens for any selected cell, not only those with attached citations. Cells without reasoning or evidence show a clear "No reasoning or citations on this cell" placeholder instead of hiding the panel entirely. The panel also defaults to open.
• CoAudit asks when context is unclear: when the linked task description doesn't provide enough signal to understand what is being tested, CoAudit will ask you to describe the audit purpose before acting. Once context is established — from your messages or a detailed task — it resumes its normal proactive behavior.
• Legacy workbooks open cleanly: workbooks created with an older version of the Punchcard add-in now open without compatibility warnings unless the workbook contains actual legacy citations.

Reliability

• Large file uploads are more resilient: the platform now handles resource pressure during bulk uploads more gracefully, reducing the chance of processing errors when many files are uploaded at once.

Bug Fixes

• Invite dialog suggestion list no longer clipped: the autocomplete dropdown in invite dialogs now renders in full over the dialog content instead of being cut off at the edge.
• Templates no longer include deleted document groups: saving a template no longer captures document groups that were previously removed from the task.

New Features

• CoAudit cell references are now clickable (Excel add-in): When CoAudit mentions a cell address, range, worksheet, or named range in a response, it appears as a clickable chip. Clicking it immediately selects those cells or navigates to the referenced sheet in your workbook — no more manually hunting for the reference.

• Jump to any page in a PDF: The page indicator in the PDF viewer is now an editable field. Type a page number and press Enter to jump there directly, instead of stepping through one page at a time on long documents.

• Cleaner file match states: Files now show one of five clear review states — Needs Match, Needs Review, Flagged, Accepted, and Out of Scope — with a badge indicating whether the match was made by AI or manually. This replaces the previous lock/unlock terminology for a more straightforward review workflow.

• Unsorted files are now reachable: Files that couldn't be automatically placed into a document group now appear in a dedicated Unsorted folder in the file explorer. You can open, move, or delete them from there, just like any other file. Previously these files were invisible and inaccessible.

Bug Fixes

• Reasoning notes no longer lost in the Excel add-in: Typing reasoning notes and then clicking back into the spreadsheet — or using a ribbon action like Validate or Flag — would silently discard the draft. Reasoning is now saved before switching to a new cell or closing the panel.

• Reasoning notes also saved when the panel is closed by a ribbon command: Even when a ribbon action closes the reasoning panel while you are mid-edit, your draft is captured before the panel disappears.

• Rotated PDF pages now display correctly: Pages stored sideways in a PDF now render upright, with citation boxes, tick marks, and review overlay numbers landing in their correct positions.

• Workpaper no longer shows a blank screen on errors: A loading failure previously left auditors on an unstyled, featureless page with no way to recover. A proper error screen with a Retry button now appears instead.

• "Loading conversation" no longer gets stuck: Navigating to a task via a chat's "Take me there" link could leave the task's chat pane spinning indefinitely. The conversation now loads correctly after navigation.

• Client not-found page keeps the full app layout: Navigating to a client URL that no longer exists now shows a clear "We could not find this client" message with a Back to clients link, rather than an unstyled plain-text error that looked like a broken page.

• Workpaper Run is more resilient: If a column was deleted between opening the Run dialog and confirming, the entire run would fail with an error. Now the stale column is quietly skipped and the run proceeds. A slow or dropped connection when starting a run also no longer shows a false failure banner while the run continues in the background.

• Financial Statement Review: improved accuracy for South African number formats: Space-grouped numbers with dot decimal separators — common in South African financial statements — are now correctly extracted. Multi-group numbers in this format were previously dropped silently during matching.

• Financial Statement Review: renamed document groups now included in file classification: Document groups that had been renamed by an auditor were previously excluded from the classifier, causing files to be routed to the wrong group. Classification now uses the group's current name.

Performance

• Pages load faster: The JavaScript delivered to your browser is meaningfully smaller — primarily by reducing the code bundled for syntax highlighting in CoAudit chat responses. Pages should feel snappier, especially on first load or on slower connections.

New Features

• Engagement identifiers are now auto-generated. When creating a new engagement, Punchcard automatically produces a short identifier from the client name and audit period year — for example, CVS26 for a CVS Health engagement ending in 2026. If that identifier is already in use, a unique variation is generated without any extra steps. The identifier field has been removed from the creation form.

• CoAudit search in Excel and Word is fully redesigned. Semantic search is now always on — no checkbox required. Results are split into two groups separated by a divider: exact text matches at the top, and topically related mentions below. A scope selector sits directly under the search box and is always visible; choose between the open file, the document group, all files in the workbook, or the entire engagement. Cross-file hits surface as cards showing the filename, page, and a snippet, split into verbatim matches and related-by-topic. The result count row shows compact badges for related mentions and cross-file hits. A spinner inside the search box indicates when a search is still running.

• Wide multi-page financial tables are automatically joined before processing. Financial schedules that overflow across pages — where the continuation page carries only amounts with no row labels, such as German fixed-asset rollforward tables (Anlagenspiegel) — are now automatically detected and merged into a single table. Foot/crossfoot validation and AI extraction now see the complete table rather than disconnected fragments.

• Netting entries are now recognized as valid footings. The Foot/Crossfoot validator now correctly identifies offsetting entries — where two titled rows cancel each other exactly to a zero total, common in German GAAP § 246 disclosures — and validates them rather than flagging them as exceptions. The validator also prevents double-counting when a formula's operands include a subtotal alongside that subtotal's own components.

Improvements

• Reordered F/CF calculator operands now survive page reload. When you drag operands into a custom order in the Foot/Crossfoot calculator, that order is saved and restored the next time you open the calculation.

• F/CF operand reordering is now available on all standard calculation types. Drag-to-reorder was previously limited to Calculate-First mode. It is now also offered on regular row footings and column crossfootings. The drag handle has been updated to match the grip style used elsewhere in the product, and the drop indicator is no longer hidden behind the dragged row.

• The CoAudit add-in now detects your firm's data region automatically. On first use, the add-in uses your device's timezone and network signals to determine whether your firm's data is in the US or EU cluster. When signals are clear, it routes silently. When they disagree, a banner asks which region your firm uses before proceeding — and that answer is remembered permanently. If you land on the wrong region after sign-in, a "Try the other region" option appears on the provisioning screen.

Bug Fixes

• Image files (PNG, JPG) no longer get stuck on a loading spinner. Image attachments on task pages now open and display correctly. Citation highlights on image files also now appear at the correct position on the page.

• Task pages no longer crash when a file appears in more than one document group. A configuration where the same file was shared across multiple document groups could cause task pages to fail entirely for everyone on the engagement. This is resolved.

• Internal Consistency no longer incorrectly groups large numbers of unrelated zero values. IC was sometimes lumping dozens of independent zero or round-number cells into a single group even when the underlying values had nothing to do with each other. Groupings now require a shared identifiable fact before cells are linked.

• English review checklists always produce output in English. Running the Review Checklist analysis on an English-language checklist could occasionally return extracted prompts in another language (such as Spanish). The language of the checklist is now detected and stated explicitly, so output language is consistent.

Financial Statement Review

• Reorder calculation operands — drag the grip handle on any operand row to set the formula sequence that is right for your calculation. Arrow keys on a focused grip do the same. The order you set is saved with the finding.
• Enter a value not printed in the document — in Calculate-First mode, type a literal number (such as × 100 for a common-size percentage) without needing to draw a box around anything in the source file. Typed values are treated as constants and excluded from rounding estimates.
• Operand set stays fixed on AI-discovered recalculations — when editing a relationship the system detected automatically, the remove button now appears disabled with a tooltip explaining why, rather than being hidden. You can still adjust operators and sequence.

Excel & Word Add-ins

Attaching and changing engagements

• Bind to an engagement directly — the setup flow when opening an unattached workpaper now asks for a client and engagement only, skipping the task step. The confirm button reads "Attach to engagement."
• Change Attachment opens pre-filled — the overlay now shows your current client and engagement already selected. Update only the level that actually changed.
• Switching to a different engagement clears previous documents — re-linking to a new engagement removes document groups from the old one so your Documents panel reflects the new scope immediately.

Document manager

• Groups appear at the top level — the Documents panel now lists your document groups directly, without having to open a task folder first. The originating task appears as context on each row.
• Import multiple groups in one step — check individual groups or an entire task header to select all its groups, then confirm in one action. Groups already in the workpaper appear as "Added" rather than offering a tick.
• Remove a group from this workpaper — the group menu now includes a "Remove from this workbook" option that detaches the group without deleting it. Files remain available to other workpapers.
• Empty groups say so — a document group with no files now shows an explanatory message and an Upload button instead of appearing as blank space.
• Files cited from other sources remain visible — documents your workpaper has cited that live outside its imported groups appear as a read-only entry, so you can still open and reference them.
• Client request groups fully manageable — document groups tied to client request tasks can now be renamed, deleted, and used as upload targets in the add-in.
• Uploading into a new engagement works immediately — if the engagement has no tasks yet, the upload flow now offers to create the first one in the same step rather than discarding your file selection.

CoAudit chat

• Unified conversation history across Excel and Word — the chat history panel shows all your conversations in the current engagement regardless of which add-in started them. Moving between an Excel workpaper and its Word narrative shows one combined history.

Sign-in

• Unverified email shows a clear next step — if your account email has not been verified, the add-in now shows a specific, actionable message and a "Check again" button rather than a generic error.

Reliability

• Selecting cells no longer jumps the scroll position in Excel — an issue where Excel scrolled back to the selected cell after you had scrolled away is fixed.
• Ribbon buttons recover automatically from brief failures — temporary update failures now retry on the next action without requiring a reload.

Partner API

• Retry-safe sampling submissions — include a request.id field in your POST request to make it idempotent. Submitting the same identifier again updates the existing sampling task rather than creating a duplicate, equivalent to a manual resend. The response echoes back the identifier you sent. Omitting request.id preserves the original behavior where each POST creates a new task.

Bug Fixes

• FSR tasks open on the review page from the breadcrumb menu — clicking a Financial Statement Review task in the top navigation breadcrumb menu previously landed on the task overview. It now opens the review page directly.
• Opening a task with @mentions no longer shows "Save failed" — a formatting step that ran when loading a task was incorrectly treated as an unsaved edit. This no longer triggers a save attempt or an error notification.
• Task overview errors no longer affect the rest of the workspace — if the overview panel encounters a problem, it now degrades locally rather than replacing the entire work area with an error screen.
• Lasso and cite work for all same-firm auditors — auditors from the same firm who were not explicitly listed on a task could not lasso or cite evidence in the add-in. This is fixed.
• Annotating a document no longer closes it — using lasso, cite, or Sum on a freshly opened document no longer dismissed the document while the operation was in progress.
• Review sign-offs show the actual reviewer's name — on workpapers bound to an engagement without a linked task, sign-offs now identify the reviewer by name correctly rather than showing a generic placeholder.
• All cited files appear in workpapers with many citations — workpapers citing a very large number of files now correctly display the full set.

Features

• Redesigned Excel and Word add-in layout. CoAudit chat is now the default view when you open the task pane — no extra click required. The document viewer and file manager live in a collapsible right sidebar. On wider panes, both panels appear side by side with a draggable divider; on narrower panes, dedicated controls let you switch between them. The sidebar's width is remembered across sessions.
• File sorting and grouping in the Document Manager. A new display-settings control (gear icon) in the file toolbar lets you sort files by date added (newest first, the default) or by name, and — when inside a document group — group files by citation status or text-recognition status so you can focus on what still needs work. If any files have failed text recognition, the gear shows a red badge and the first menu item takes you straight to those files.
• Clear guidance for unprovisioned accounts. If you sign in with an account that isn't yet connected to an audit firm, the add-in now shows a plain "Welcome to Punchcard" screen explaining what to do, with a Check again button (provisioning can complete while the pane is open) and a sign-out option — instead of a working-looking interface where every action silently failed.

Bug Fixes

• Non-admin workbook attachment now works. Non-admin users can now attach a workbook or document to an engagement from the add-in — the form was previously locked and gave no indication why.
• CoAudit "Conversation too long" shows immediately. When a chat grows too large to continue, the error appears right away instead of after several invisible failed attempts. The message and guidance remain the same.
• Scrolling in Excel no longer jumps. With the add-in open, scrolling the spreadsheet no longer snapped back to the selected cell.
• Word add-in notifies you when a restart is needed. If a ribbon action stops responding because Word needs to be restarted, the add-in now shows a clear notification — instead of silently freezing all ribbon controls.
• Cite, Lasso, and Sum now open the document viewer. Activating a drawing tool from the ribbon now reliably brings the document into view, rather than landing on the file list and cancelling the draw.
• Document Manager no longer shows a previous user's files. After signing out of the Word add-in, the file tree is cleared — a subsequent user no longer sees the prior account's document groups and file names before their own files load.
• Engagement category colors are more readable. Dot colors in the engagement breadcrumb menu now use the same calibrated palette as the rest of the product — several shades that were previously too light to read against their backgrounds have been corrected.

Office Add-ins — Redesigned Review Panel

• Citation details now appear in a docked bottom panel below the document viewer, so the source document and your review notes are visible at the same time. Toggle the panel open or closed with a button in the pane controls, drag the divider to adjust its height, and the add-in remembers your preference across sessions. The panel works the same way in both Excel and Word.
• Validate and Flag are now available directly in the panel — no need to reach for the ribbon for single-citation verdicts. Unreviewed citations show Validate and Flag buttons in the bottom panel; once a verdict is set, the button becomes a status badge (Validated / Flagged) with a one-click clear option. The ribbon Review group still handles bulk selections in Excel.
• New Settings button (gear icon) in the ribbon lets you re-link a bound workbook or Word document to a different engagement or task without closing the pane. Use the familiar cascading picker to select or create a client, engagement, or task.
• Sign-in is more reliable. If Microsoft's authentication flow takes an unusual path, the add-in now detects the completed sign-in and returns to the pane automatically rather than appearing stuck. If the pane ever lands on the wrong page, clicking any ribbon button brings it back immediately.

Workpaper

• Clicking a cell now opens the correct source document. The document viewer opens to the file where the cell's primary citation is highlighted — not to a fallback file that may have nothing to do with that cell's evidence. Citations that reference a file from a different part of the engagement also load correctly.
• The collapse/expand arrow on datasource column groups now points in the correct direction after each click.

Excel Add-in — Workbook Authoring

• Writing to a workpaper cell now requires a single approval, not three or more. Previously, filling one cell correctly could require separate approvals for the value, the formatting, and the citation. All of these are now batched into one step, so you approve once and everything is applied together.
• AI can read a cell's current contents — including its formula, citation, and formatting — and update only the parts that need to change, leaving everything else untouched. This makes targeted corrections predictable and avoids accidentally clearing a reviewer's existing work.
• Cells you've already filled are protected from silent overwrites. If AI tries to write over a cell that contains your work, it stops, shows you what is already there, and waits for you to confirm before replacing anything. When you do approve a replacement, the confirmation card leads with a clear notice that existing data will be replaced.
• AI can now attach multiple evidence citations to a single cell. When a figure rests on more than one piece of supporting evidence — for example, a ship date and freight terms from two different lines of the same document — each source gets its own clickable highlight in the document viewer.
• When AI cites a passage it cannot locate in the source file, it now reports exactly which quote didn't match and suggests how to retry, rather than silently appearing to succeed with no highlight to click.
• The approval mode selector is now labeled Manual and Skip all approvals (previously "Ask" and "Approve All"), with a raised-hand icon for Manual and a warning-triangle for Skip, making the difference clear at a glance. The collapsed toggle shows the short form (Manual / Skip) to fit the task pane.
• File imports always require their own approval, even when a write session is active. Other workbook writes — values, formatting, citations — still proceed without interruption once a session is approved; importing a document group always shows a separate approval card.

Excel Add-in — Document Manager

• Two tabs now appear over the file list: Cited and Text. The Cited tab shows which files have evidence linked to workbook cells. The new Text tab groups files by text-recognition status — successfully processed, still recognizing, failed, and unsupported — with a red badge for failures and a purple badge for files still being processed, visible from the Cited tab so extraction problems are never silent.
• Text recognition status refreshes automatically while files are processing: every two seconds for the first 30 seconds, then every five seconds up to two minutes, then every 15 seconds. A "Check again" link appears if recognition hasn't finished within that window.
• File names appear in the Document Manager as soon as you select them for upload, with a spinner in place of the file-type icon, so you can see what is in flight without waiting for the transfer to complete.
• Drag files, folders, or ZIP archives directly onto the Document Manager to upload them. Dropping onto an open document group uploads into that group; dropping above the list opens the standard destination chooser.
• The region selector (US / EU) now appears only when needed — during sign-in or when the pane cannot connect — rather than displaying a banner on every launch.

CoAudit Citations

• Multi-word quotes now match correctly in source documents. Citing a phrase such as "Pay Date: 12/22/2025" previously failed to find a match because the quote spans multiple words in the document's underlying text, producing a full-page highlight with nothing to click. The highlight now lands precisely on the quoted text.
• Citation highlights cover the full quoted phrase, not just the first word. A three-word quote now produces a single highlight spanning all three words.
• False citation matches are prevented. A quote can no longer match text where it appears only as part of a longer phrase — for example, "Pay Date" will not highlight "Repay Dated."

Karbon Integration

• Firm admins can now connect their Karbon integration without contacting support. Previously this required a backend command run by an operator. Firm admins can now go to Admin → Integrations → Karbon and paste their Karbon access key directly. The key is verified against Karbon before being saved, so a typo cannot replace a working connection.

Financial Statement Review

Merge tables that span page breaks

• Select two adjacent-page tables in the review sidebar and choose a merge strategy: Vertical (the table continues across the break) or Horizontal (columns are split side by side).
• A live preview shows row accounting, a list of any values that would not carry over (named by amount, not just counted), and whether column headers can be reconciled — all before you commit.
• Merges are non-destructive: existing tick marks, variance analyses, and comments are preserved and carried to the merged result.
• A dashed seam line in the PDF marks where tables were joined. Undo a merge by hovering the seam and clicking Unmerge, or using the revert control in the sidebar list. Math validation re-runs automatically after each merge or unmerge.

Correct a misread presentation scale

• Every Foot/Crossfoot calculator now shows a unit chip (e.g., "TEUR", "thousands") auto-detected from the table header.
• Click the chip to correct a wrong detection — for example, changing "full amounts" to "thousands" when the statement is in TEUR. All findings in that calculation re-score immediately, and tick marks on findings whose verdict changed are flagged for recheck.
• A filled chip indicates a system-detected unit; an outlined chip means you set it manually. A "Reset to detected" option restores auto-detection.

PDF text search

• Press Cmd/Ctrl+F while viewing a PDF to open a find bar with previous/next navigation through all matches.
• In dual-pane Current Year / Prior Year view, the shortcut routes to the pane you last interacted with.
• The shortcut is not intercepted when the cursor is inside a text field such as a comment box.

AI analysis now matches the document's language

• Internal Consistency grouping labels, Foot/Crossfoot correction reasoning, and Prior Year comparison analysis are now written in the document's own language — German, Spanish, Italian, and others — rather than always in English.
• Table titles extracted during enrichment are preserved verbatim rather than translated.

Accuracy improvements

• Fewer false math exceptions: the math correction step now discards proposed total-row compositions that fail to reconcile on any constraint before flagging them. This removes a class of false exception marks on correct statements, such as the example where two unrelated line items were incorrectly marked as totals.
• Percent-change columns with negative bases: whether a "% change" figure uses a signed or absolute-value convention is now inferred from the document by majority vote rather than assumed, removing false exceptions on correctly-stated rows.
• Multi-line row labels in European-format statements — including labels that open with a currency-prefixed value like "−€1,234.56" or "€−1,234" — are now correctly joined into a single row, preventing false footing exceptions on wrapped captions.

CoAudit Chat in Excel and Word

Workbook authoring (Excel)

• CoAudit can now read and write the live Excel workbook — cell values, formulas, number formats, fill colors, merged cells, and citations — directly from the task pane.
• Ask CoAudit to build a cited workpaper schedule: it reads source PDFs, extracts figures with page references, writes values and formulas into cells, and attaches citations so each number traces back to its source page in the PDF.
• Write Sessions: approve a described block of work once ("populate the detail sheet for 26 paystubs, with citations") and all workbook writes in that scope proceed without interruption. Sharing a document group from another task still asks individually.
• Approve All: a toggle beside the Citations control grants a standing approval for the current conversation, so nothing interrupts a long unattended run. Resets when the tab is closed.

CoAudit chat now in Word

• The Word task pane now includes CoAudit chat with the same AI assistant as the web app. Citation review and source evidence are unchanged; workbook authoring tools are Excel-only.

Document group management in the pane

• Create, rename, and delete document groups from the task pane without opening the web app. A 3-dot menu on each group offers Rename and Delete, with a file count shown in the confirm dialog before deleting.
• The + tile offers two options in one click: create a new group or import an existing group from another task in the engagement.
• Empty document groups now appear immediately after creation rather than staying invisible until a file is uploaded into them.
• Files uploaded through the pane now trigger text recognition automatically, matching web upload behavior.
• Renaming or removing a shared document group from an importing task no longer affects the source task or any other task that shares the group.

Other add-in improvements

• The ribbon button that opens the citation and evidence surface is now labeled "Viewer" (previously "Review") to distinguish it from the Validate / Flag / Clear review actions.
• The import panel navigation has been simplified: the engagement name and a back chevron appear in the header rather than in the scrolling body, so the context label stays visible as you drill into folders.

Workpaper

• PDF text search: press Cmd/Ctrl+F while a PDF is open in the workpaper to search the document's recognized text with previous/next navigation.
• Removing the last client-uploadable document group now presents an explicit choice: move the task to the internal Tasks board, or keep it as a client request with no upload destination. The outcome is no longer decided automatically without input.

---

Reliability

• Certain files were permanently undownloadable if their name contained a space near a dot (e.g., "Report pg. 2"). These files now download correctly.
• Navigating directly to an engagement board URL could occasionally leave the page blank if a navigation attempt was dropped during load. The page now shows a spinner and retries until navigation succeeds.
• MUS formula panel: the formula result shown in the Monetary Sample Size panel now matches the formula's own arithmetic rather than the final selected row count, which could differ on small populations.
• File moves within the workpaper now complete atomically, so a move on a large file with many records no longer risks leaving data in a half-migrated state if it runs long.

Office Add-ins (Excel & Word)

• Word ribbon now matches Excel — The Word add-in ribbon now includes the same controls as Excel: CoAudit (AI chat), Sum (draw boxes across pages to total values), and Clear citations. These were previously absent from the Word ribbon, requiring workarounds.
• CoAudit / Review tabs in full-screen chat — When the AI chat panel takes the full screen on a narrow pane, tabs at the top let you switch between CoAudit and Review without navigating away.
• Cross-document search cycling — After searching across your source documents, the next/previous arrows now cycle through results from all files in sequence, opening each document at the matching location as you step through.
• Sum mode keeps drawn boxes visible — While drawing additional sum components, citation boxes already saved for that cell stay highlighted in the viewer so you can see exactly what you have already captured before adding more.
• Upload destination redesigned — Choosing where to upload files now shows a card list with an "Upload Here" button for each folder, matching the look and feel of the document import flow.

PDF Viewer

• Comments on drawn lines and arrows — Selecting a drawn line or arrow in the PDF viewer now opens the same action menu as a citation number, including the ability to add and view comment threads. Previously, drawn marks only offered a delete option.
• Sum calculator matches cell currency format — The running total in the sum calculator now uses the same number and currency format as the workpaper cell it feeds, so the displayed values are consistent.

Workpaper & Automation

• Automation conflicts give a clear retry message — When a match or automation run encounters a conflicting in-progress operation (such as a file deletion), it now fails within seconds with a clear message to retry, rather than hanging silently for several minutes before erroring.
• Manual footings are fully editable — Manually added footings in the math sidebar now support the same edits as pipeline-discovered footings: you can correct the stated result and adjust operator signs, and the verdict updates automatically when the numbers change.

Reliability

• Bulk uploads recover from brief network interruptions — Large file uploads now automatically retry when a transient network issue occurs, instead of failing and requiring a complete re-upload.
• Files that finish processing late no longer stay stuck — OCR occasionally completed after the initial wait window, leaving files in a permanent "timed out" state. These files now automatically show as ready when processing finishes.
• Deleting tasks with many files now succeeds reliably — Tasks with a large number of attached files now delete completely rather than timing out partway through.

Financial Statement Review

• More consistent table structure reading — The AI that identifies rows, headers, and columns in financial statement tables has been upgraded to a significantly more reliable approach, reducing misclassified rows and inconsistent results across successive runs on the same document.
• Improved accuracy on German financial schedules — Several patterns that caused false exceptions on German-format statements are now handled correctly, including schedules where the total column appears to the left of the detail columns, and expense or provision line items that were incorrectly flagged as subtotals.
• Footing discovery improvements — The system now correctly proposes footings for single-member section subtotals, balance-sheet identity rows (where two total rows are cell-for-cell equal), and paragraphs containing label-less totals that were previously invisible to the discovery engine.

Bug Fixes

• CoAudit's activity feed now shows consistent, readable steps when helper agents are at work: CoAudit sometimes delegates parts of a task to specialized helper agents. Their activity now appears in the same clean format as the main agent's steps — showing actual file names, collapsing repeated actions into a single grouped count, and displaying a compact summary once the work is done. Tapping the summary expands a scrollable view of every step. Previously, this activity could show garbled internal codes instead of file names, repeat the same step dozens of times and flood the sidebar, or disappear from the chat entirely after a page reload.

• Cited workpaper cell references in Excel exports no longer fail on large workpapers: When CoAudit builds an Excel export that cites specific workpaper cells, it can now anchor those citations directly from the workpaper data it already scanned — without going back to re-read source documents a second time. This resolves a failure that previously blocked cited Excel exports when working across a large workpaper.

New in CoAudit

• Clickable citations in AI-produced Excel workbooks: When CoAudit builds an Excel workbook for you, individual cells can now include citations that link directly to the source document pages — the same click-to-open experience you get from a workpaper exported in Punchcard. Ask CoAudit to build you a workbook and it will wire up the citations automatically.
• CoAudit can now delegate complex tasks to worker agents: For requests that require reading many files and authoring detailed evidence across a large workpaper, CoAudit can now hand off that exploration to a focused worker — keeping your conversation responsive while the heavy lifting runs. This capability was previously available only to administrators; it is now part of every task-mode CoAudit chat.
• Filter workpaper rows by review state: CoAudit can now scope its reads and actions to only the rows you've flagged, validated, or haven't reviewed yet. Ask it to "look at only the flagged rows" or "re-run only unreviewed items" and it will target exactly that subset.
• Automation re-runs preserve your reviewed work: CoAudit now correctly understands that re-running a workpaper automation never overwrites cells you've already validated or flagged — so you can safely ask it to refresh the rest of the workpaper without worrying about losing your review work.
• Upgraded AI model: CoAudit chat now runs on an upgraded model with noticeably better accuracy on complex routing and multi-step tasks.

Chat & UI

• Drag folders and ZIP files into the chat: You can now drop a folder (or several folders at once), or a ZIP archive, directly into the CoAudit chat composer — all files inside are collected and uploaded as individual attachments. Previously only individual files could be dragged in.
• Scroll position stays put when the AI finishes responding: When the AI completes a reply, your reading position is no longer snapped to the bottom of the conversation. If you scrolled up to read an earlier message, you stay there. The scroll-to-bottom button becomes highlighted with a bouncing arrow to signal that a new reply is waiting — clicking it or scrolling down clears the indicator.
• Redesigned AI loading indicator: The indicator shown while the AI is generating a response is now a slim, solid bar pinned at the bottom of the conversation with an animated Punchcard mark and status text. It no longer lets transcript content bleed through behind it.

Requests

• Simplified request status labels: Client-facing request statuses are now Outstanding, Returned, Submitted, and Accepted. The button clients use to submit work is now labeled Submit Request; when a request is already submitted, it shows Return to Outstanding instead. Both auditors and clients will see a one-time announcement on the board summarizing the label changes side-by-side.

Bug Fixes

• Testing attribute name saves reliably on the memo page: Typing a name and then quickly reloading the page or closing the tab no longer silently discards the change — it now saves the moment you click away from the field.
• ZIP file previews work correctly in CoAudit chat: Files extracted from an uploaded ZIP now preview correctly in the document pane instead of showing a fetch error.
• PDF black-page recovery improved: Black or blank PDF pages are now detected and recovered from the moment a document opens, not only when navigating between pages.
• Collective workpaper columns compute correctly across multiple files: A column configured to produce one shared result across all files in a datasource group now generates a single synchronized value and applies it to every file, rather than running independently per file.
• Excel workbook delivery is more reliable: In rare cases, generating an Excel artifact could fail due to an internal step unrelated to the workbook's content. That step now fails gracefully so your workbook is still delivered.
• Task breadcrumb segments no longer collapse: Breadcrumb text in the task header now maintains a visible minimum width instead of occasionally collapsing to nothing.

Features

• Import Deep Analysis questions into Skills: Each existing Deep Analysis question now has an "Import to Skill" button that opens the Skills editor pre-filled with the question's content and name. The option to add new Deep Analysis questions has been replaced with a link to the Skills library — existing questions continue to run, edit, and delete as before.

Reliability Fixes

• Files still processing after upload no longer appear as failed: When a large file takes longer than expected to finish text recognition, the workpaper now shows a "still processing" notice rather than marking it as failed. The status updates automatically once processing completes, so there is no need to re-upload.

• Failed saves now revert to the last confirmed value: Across status changes, memo fields, review states, task names, and descriptions, a save that doesn't go through now reliably restores the field to the last value the server confirmed, instead of leaving it stuck in the unsaved state.

• Switching tasks no longer mixes up edits between tasks: A save started on one task will no longer affect the task you navigate to afterward. Each save stays in the context of the task where it was made.

• Review status changes now update all related items immediately: Accepting or clearing a review state on one workpaper item in a linked group now immediately reflects on the other items in that group in the same view, without requiring a refresh.

• Narrative card review badges stay in sync: Review status badges on narrative cards now consistently reflect the latest confirmed state, even when a save and a concurrent change arrive at the same time.

Performance

• Large Excel uploads no longer freeze the browser tab. Uploading large spreadsheets previously caused the tab to lock up for a minute or more and sometimes left a file that appeared in the list but could never be downloaded. Uploads now complete in under a second regardless of file size.

AI & Sandbox

• Co-Audit Agent sandbox steps now show what they're doing. When the agent runs code to build a report or analyze data, each step is labeled in plain English — for example, "Building Excel workbook" — instead of a static spinner. The underlying code is still available behind a "View code" toggle for those who want it.
• The Stop button now immediately halts sandbox work. Pressing Stop while the agent is executing code interrupts all further steps right away rather than letting them run to completion.

Workpaper

• Circular-reference detection covers more scenarios. Punchcard now catches circular dependencies that arise when pasting data with a different column mapping, when a match relationship is auto-linked, or when a match mode is switched. When a loop is found, the warning banner displays the exact chain as clickable column pills so you can jump straight to the involved column.
• Batch run approvals now name each column. When the Co-Audit Agent queues several column-level runs for approval at once, each entry in the approval card now shows the specific column name and its document group. Previously all entries showed only the document group, making a batch of runs on the same group indistinguishable.
• Editing a deleted column now shows a clear message. If you try to update a column that a teammate has already deleted, Punchcard now explains that the column no longer exists instead of showing a generic error.

Reliability

• Extraction progress no longer flickers. The Review & Corrections panel in the chat sidebar stays steady while an extraction is running instead of flashing repeatedly.
• Financial Statement Review consistency checks are more stable. A rare scenario where two consistency rules targeted the same entry at the same time could cause the analysis to stop partway through. This is now handled gracefully.
• Logging in from multiple locations no longer produces an error. Opening Punchcard in a second tab or browser at the same time as an existing session previously triggered a server error in some cases; it now resolves cleanly.

CoAudit Chat

• Grouped action approvals: When the AI requests several actions at once — such as moving multiple files into document groups — all pending approvals are now consolidated into a single grouped card. A "Preparing N approvals…" indicator appears while the AI is still working, then a single Approve all / Reject button handles the entire batch. After approval, the card shows a result summary inline (e.g., "Moved 5 of 6 files — receipt_03.pdf couldn't be moved").
• Reject with reason: Declining an approval now reveals an optional text field where you can explain why. The AI receives your note and can adjust its next steps accordingly.
• Clearer choice prompts: When the AI asks you to choose from a list of options, the card now uses distinct, clearly labeled Submit and Cancel buttons — making it easier to respond without ambiguity.

Financial Statement Review

• Sync scroll preserves your alignment: When reviewing current-year and prior-year PDFs side by side, enabling Sync Scroll now locks in whatever alignment you've already set manually, rather than snapping both panes back to identical page positions. Scroll together from wherever you left off.
• Prior-year tick mark editing: Clicking an existing tick mark annotation while in Prior Year Consistency mode now opens the full context menu — giving you the same edit and delete controls available in other review modes.
• Shift-constrained proof marks: Hold Shift while drawing a line, arrow, or double-line to snap it to horizontal, vertical, or 45° diagonal. Useful for drawing precise accounting double-underlines and tie-out arrows.

Workpaper

• Document group file uploads fixed: Creating a new document group from a client request and then uploading files into it now works reliably. Previously this could fail silently, leaving the group unable to accept files.
• Datasource rename conflict explained: Renaming a datasource to a name already used in the same task now surfaces a clear message explaining the conflict. Previously the rename would silently revert with no feedback.

Reliability

• PDF viewer recovery: The PDF viewer no longer gets stuck with unresponsive zoom controls and dead page navigation when first opened inside a panel that was collapsed or hidden. The viewer now recovers automatically when the panel is expanded.
• Excel viewer stability: Opening the Excel viewer on a file whose AI citations reference a sheet that no longer exists no longer crashes the viewer.
• Task chat stability: The CoAudit chat panel no longer goes blank when navigating between tasks in the same session.
• Team and client invite error messages: When adding a team member or client user to an engagement fails, the notification now explains the specific reason (for example, "identity provider temporarily unavailable — try again shortly") instead of showing a generic error.

New Features

• Private engagements: Mark any engagement as private from the engagement settings page options menu (⋯). A private engagement — and all its tasks — is hidden from firm colleagues who aren't explicitly named as team members. Only named members and admins can see it. The toggle updates immediately and reverts automatically if saving fails.

• Excel viewer renders cell colors and comments: The Workpaper Excel viewer now faithfully recreates background fill colors and font colors from the original file, so color-coded headers, highlighted rows, and styled tables appear exactly as they do in Excel. Cells with comments or notes show a small red triangle in the corner; hovering reveals the comment text.

• TEUR-aware math validation: The Financial Statement Review calculator now detects when a document is presented in thousands or millions (TEUR, MEUR, "in thousands") and automatically adjusts. Operand values display as integers matching the statement convention, a quiet unit label confirms the active scale, and the verdict reads "≈ Validates on rounding" when a footing passes within the tolerance band but isn't an exact tie. Column totals that appear before their operand columns — common in some European reporting layouts — are now also validated correctly.

• Plain text and RTF files can now be uploaded: .txt and .rtf files are now accepted for upload and AI extraction, joining PDFs, Excel files, and CSVs.

• Real-time identifier availability when creating an engagement: The short identifier field now checks availability as you type and shows an inline hint if the chosen identifier is already taken — for example, "ACME" is already in use. This engagement will be created as ACME2. — so you know the final identifier before submitting.

• CoAudit can link workpaper columns as engagement-wide variables: When working with the CoAudit agent on a Workpaper task, you can ask it to mark a column's extracted output as an engagement-wide variable, making those values available for reference across all tasks in the engagement.

Bug Fixes

• Excel citations now highlight the correct cell: Citation highlights in the Excel viewer now land on the right cell even when the spreadsheet has leading blank rows or columns before the data area.

• Citations on repeated values highlight one cell, not a span: When a cited value (such as "$0") appears in multiple cells of the same table row, the citation now highlights a single cell rather than drawing an incorrect band across unrelated cells.

• Page no longer freezes after closing a confirmation dialog: Clicking Cancel on a confirmation dialog — such as a file delete confirmation — could leave the entire page unresponsive to clicks. This is fixed.

• Workpaper automation correctly populates records for shared datasources: Running automation on a task that shares a datasource no longer produces an empty grid. Each task now generates its own records correctly.

• Financial Statement Review handles partial document processing more gracefully: If one section of a document encounters a problem during processing, the successfully processed sections are now preserved so the review can continue rather than failing entirely.

• CSV exports with title rows now import correctly: CSV files that begin with a report title line or blank line before the column headers — common in GL and payroll exports — are now recognized and imported correctly.

• Office lock files are rejected at upload: Temporary Office files (those beginning with ~$) are now immediately rejected with a clear unsupported-file error rather than being silently submitted for processing.

Performance

• Excel viewer opens large files faster: Cell color scanning is now limited to the visible portion of the sheet on open, so large workbooks no longer cause a noticeable delay when first viewed.

AI & CoAudit

• Files uploaded in CoAudit task chat are now auto-sorted into the correct document group as soon as they finish processing. A persistent trail in the conversation records what happened — "Uploaded invoice.pdf", "Sorted 3 files into Invoices · Bank Statements" — so you always know where your files landed, even after leaving and returning to the chat.
• Ask CoAudit to move a misrouted file: if a file ends up in the wrong group, tell CoAudit ("move invoice.pdf to the Invoices group") and it will move it without leaving the chat.
• Excel cell background colors and cell comments are now captured during file processing. Cells with color-coded classifications or embedded auditor notes in Excel workbooks are now visible to AI extraction columns.
• Excel files with formulas now show correct values instead of blanks. Formulas that previously computed to empty — common in programmatically produced spreadsheets — are now evaluated correctly.
• Chat messages with file attachments now reliably receive AI responses. A bug where certain messages appeared to send successfully but never produced a reply has been resolved.

Workpaper & Automations

• Testing attribute automations now pick up every file, including those added after the first run. Previously, files uploaded to a shared document group after you first ran an automation were silently skipped. All files are now included on every run.
• "Fill empty" reruns now correctly process all rows, including rows that were added since the previous run.
• Automations and Match Agent runs stay isolated to the correct workpaper when a document group is shared across multiple workpapers. Results no longer bleed between workpapers sharing the same document group.

Engagements & Clients

• Engagement identifiers no longer block creation or editing when already in use. The identifier field now adjusts automatically (e.g. SAND → SAND2) instead of returning an error that requires you to try again.
• Document groups created from PBC request imports are now available in the document group picker across other workpapers in the same engagement, so evidence collected for one workpaper can be reused without re-uploading.
• Creating new client organizations is faster. The New Client form now responds immediately after clicking Create instead of freezing on firms with many existing clients.

New Features

• Copy data directly from another request: A new "Copy from Request" option in Import Table Data lets you populate a workpaper table by copying data from another task in the same engagement. Pick the source task, choose a sample datasource or a tabular file, then configure the header row and columns using the same picker as a direct Excel import. Both source groups ("Sample Selections" and "Table Files") are always shown with a clear indication when a group is empty.

• Pick which sheet to import from multi-sheet Excel files: When importing an Excel file that has more than one worksheet, a sheet selector now appears in the column picker so you can choose exactly which sheet to use. Previously, imports always used the first sheet with no option to change it.

Performance

• Copy from Request source picker opens faster for large files: Row counts, column counts, and column headers in the source picker now load immediately instead of re-reading the file each time the picker opens. Files with tens of thousands of rows that previously caused a multi-second delay now appear instantly.

Bug Fixes

• All worksheets are now selectable when importing older Excel files: In some Excel files uploaded before a recent update, worksheets beyond the first appeared grayed out in the import sheet picker. Those sheets are now always selectable and always show the correct preview data for that sheet.

• Citation pills scroll to the right location on the first click: Clicking a citation pill in cell reasoning now navigates the document viewer to the correct passage immediately. Some citations previously required two clicks before landing in the right spot.

• Viewer header and toolbar stay visible after clicking a citation: Clicking an inline citation pill in cell reasoning no longer causes the document filename and toolbar buttons to disappear. The header stays intact while the citation is highlighted in the document.

• Toolbar buttons stay fully visible in a narrow viewer: When the document viewer is at a constrained width, toolbar action buttons (lasso, search, and others) now remain fully visible — the filename truncates before any buttons are hidden.

• "Informed by" tree: clicking a value node navigates the workpaper fully: Clicking a value link in the "Informed by" provenance tree now moves the grid selection, cell-detail panel, and document viewer to the referenced cell together. Previously the document viewer could fail to update or show the wrong content.

• "Informed by" tree: citation pills show one highlight and scroll vertically: Clicking a citation pill inside the "Informed by" tree now shows a single highlight on the document (no duplicate outline) and scrolls straight to the cited passage without any sideways movement.

• Wide preview tables scroll horizontally in Copy from Request: The data preview on the Copy from Request confirmation step now displays a horizontal scrollbar for tables with many columns, so all column data is visible without being squeezed.

Features

Workpaper

• See what informed each AI result: When Punchcard AI fills a workpaper cell using values from other columns, an "Informed by" section now appears in the cell detail panel. Expand it to see a tree of every upstream value the AI referenced, the reasoning behind each connection, and inline citations you can click to jump straight to that location in the source document. Click any node in the tree to navigate directly to that cell in the workpaper grid.
• Excel and CSV file import now available to all users: Uploading an Excel or CSV file when adding selection data is no longer a limited rollout — every user now has access. This is especially useful for very large populations that are impractical to paste from the clipboard.

Bug Fixes

Chat

• Send button no longer stays disabled after attaching a file: After uploading a file in a chat conversation, the Send button could remain unclickable even after the file finished processing. This is now fixed.
• Chat messages containing links now display correctly: AI responses that included certain link formats could cause the entire message to fail to load. This is now fixed.

Workpaper

• OCR status indicator always visible on the Files tab: The badge showing files with pending or failed text recognition was being partially hidden behind the adjacent tab. It is now correctly positioned and fully visible at all times.
• Spurious error on workpaper open no longer appears: A "Failed to load available headers" message that sometimes flashed briefly when first opening a workpaper no longer appears.

Notifications

• Activity summary emails are no longer sent twice: Some users were receiving their activity summary email twice in quick succession. This has been resolved.

Performance & Reliability

Large Data Paste Handling

• Pasting huge Excel tables no longer freezes the application. Previously, importing journals with hundreds of thousands of rows would hang the browser for many minutes. The new optimized parser and incremental processing keep the workpaper responsive throughout the entire import.
• Massive improvements to memory usage for large data imports. The system now samples data intelligently rather than processing every cell upfront, preventing the browser from running out of memory on very large pastes.
• Smart confirmation dialog for very large pastes. Pastes exceeding 200,000 rows now show a recommendation to use the file upload feature instead, which handles that scale more efficiently without blocking the UI.

Data Integrity

• Fixed cell splitting when pasting Excel data with line breaks. Previously, cells containing quoted text with embedded newlines would incorrectly be split into multiple rows during import. This now works correctly.
• Single-column table pastes no longer split valid wrapped cells. Previously, wrapped cells in single-column tables would be broken into extra rows during import.

Authentication

• Users can now log in with the updated organization authentication domain. The organization's recent authentication system update is fully supported, so all accounts can access the platform without interruption.

Shared Document Groups

• Smarter import flow when client requests are involved: Switching a document group to a different shared source now handles every combination of client-upload ownership with the right confirmation experience. When both the current and target groups are owned as client requests by different tasks, a dedicated dialog appears — showing which task currently handles client uploads, what files will be affected, and what happens to client upload routing — before you confirm.
• See exactly which files will be permanently deleted before switching: When switching to a different shared document group would permanently remove files, the panel now shows the exact file count upfront. The confirm button stays disabled while this check runs, so you can never accidentally confirm before the full impact is visible.
• "Import document group" toggle: The toggle in the document group editor panel is now labeled "Import document group" when the group is standalone, and "Shared document group" once sharing is active, making its current state clearer at a glance.

EU and German Document Accuracy

• Fixed: EU financial values ending in zero cents were being dropped: In EU-format tables — such as German balance sheets — values whose cents ended in zero (for example, 15.375,50 or 16.991,00) were being silently excluded during extraction. This affected roughly 30% of numbers in affected tables, causing footings to fail and numbers to appear missing. These values now extract correctly.
• Fixed: prior-year comparisons could mis-route for round amounts: A related issue caused the year-over-year comparison logic to silently treat all values as equal for certain round figures, which could misdirect reconciliations across periods. This is now resolved.
• German section references and legal citations no longer treated as financial numbers: German document markers — such as "Anlage 3", "Kapitel 5", "§ 322 HGB", and numbered headings — are now correctly excluded from financial number extraction, reducing noise in AI analysis on German audit reports.
• German fixed asset schedules no longer incorrectly combined: The system was sometimes merging separate sections of a fixed asset schedule (Anlagespiegel) that document different financial events — for example, acquisition costs on one page and accumulated depreciation on another — into a single table, dropping data in the process. These sections now remain separate.
• Fewer false inconsistency flags on comparative-period columns: The inconsistency checker was occasionally raising exception marks on comparative-period columns based solely on shared row position, even when the values are expected to differ across periods. This has been corrected.
• Improved extraction for EU headerless and multi-block schedules: Table extraction quality improved for EU-format financial statements that span multiple sections without standard column headers.

Processing Reliability

• PDFs with complex graphics now process reliably: PDFs containing many vector-graphic elements — such as diagrams or heavily formatted pages — were causing OCR processing to fail entirely for that file. These files now process normally, with all text and numbers extracted as expected.

Improvements

• Applying a template is now instant. The intermediate document group mapping screen has been removed from the template apply flow. Selecting a template and clicking Apply creates the task immediately — no extra confirmation step required.

• Email invites accept any paste format. When adding team members or clients to an engagement, you can now paste addresses in any common format: space-separated, comma-separated, one per line, or directly from Outlook ("First Last <email@firm.com>"). Invalid addresses are flagged inline before the invite is sent, so you can fix them on the spot instead of hitting a generic error after the fact.

• Foot/Crossfoot calculator lists operands in document order. Values in the F/CF calculator are now shown in the order they appear in the PDF — page by page, top to bottom — making it straightforward to trace each number back to its location in the source document.

Bug Fixes

• "Apply Valid" / "Apply Exception" no longer fails after a tick mark is removed. Re-applying a footing result to a number that previously had its tick mark removed now succeeds as expected, instead of showing a "Failed to finalize calculation" error.

• AI chat panel no longer goes blank during streaming. An issue that caused the chat panel to crash and stop rendering while a response was being generated has been fixed.

• Workpaper page is stable on long-running engagements. An issue causing the workpaper page to crash on engagements with a long activity history has been resolved.

New Features

• AI-produced files in task chat. The Co-Audit agent can now build custom Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PDFs directly in the chat — not just describe what to do, but hand you the finished file. Ask for things like "build a loan schedule with a separate sheet per vendor" or "fill this form from our workpaper data" and a colored download chip appears at the end of the response. The agent can also read evidence and reference files already attached to the task when building its output.

• Move and Copy matched evidence. Right-clicking a matched row in the workpaper now offers a Move or Copy option under "Move to":

  • Move — removes the original match and creates it under the chosen parent row, with a preview of all downstream records that will be affected before you confirm.
  • Copy — adds a second association without touching the original, useful when the same evidence belongs under multiple parents.

• Run on empty match cells. Right-clicking an empty match column cell on a parent row now shows a Run option alongside "Pick document," so you can ask the agent to fill the match automatically rather than picking a file manually.

Improvements

• Template reconciliation is faster and clearer. When applying a template whose document groups share names with groups already in your engagement, the reconciliation screen now:

  • Lets you type a custom name when creating a new group (formula references update automatically).
  • Shows a "Client request · ID" chip next to any reuse option that's already shared with clients, and warns you that client uploads will continue going to the original task — so you know the upload ownership consequence before confirming.
  • Skips the screen entirely when there are no naming conflicts, jumping straight to a one-click Apply summary.
  • Highlights inline when two rows would resolve to the same name.

• First-run modal is simpler. When you open the Run dialog on a scope that has never been run, you now see just the scope description and a single Run button. The breakdown table and duplicate Re-run button only appear after something in the scope has been run.

• Remove Match is consistent everywhere. The consequence preview — showing how many downstream matched rows will be removed — now appears regardless of whether you use the grid right-click menu, the cell-detail panel, or the document-detail panel.

• Document group picker shows more context. The "Use Existing Document Group" panel now displays a file count badge on each group row, and task labels include the short task ID for faster scanning.

• AI artifact sessions start faster. The Co-Audit agent's file-building sessions now reach a ready state noticeably faster than before.

• Better AI model for EU users. The default AI model for auditors in the EU region has been upgraded to match the model used in the US.

Bug Fixes

• Co-Audit sidebar no longer splits in two. Opening "Fix with Co-Audit" from the Problems tab previously rendered a duplicate strip of recent chats below the chat panel. The chat panel now takes the full sidebar height as expected.

• Download chip appears once on saved chats. Reopening a chat that contained an AI-produced file used to show the download chip twice. It now appears exactly once.

• Template column setting for "run on no match" is now preserved. A per-column setting that controls whether the agent runs when no evidence match is found was being silently dropped when saving or applying templates. It now round-trips correctly.

Workpaper

• Bulk accept/reject now covers all row types: Validate, Flag, and Clear operations in the range selection panel now apply to consolidated cells (cross-datasource inline rows) and top-level non-group rows — these were previously silently excluded. The accepted/rejected/pending counts in the range panel also update in real-time as review states change from any surface (right-click menu, live sync), without requiring you to re-select the range.
• Deep analysis spinner appears immediately: Starting a deep analysis run — whether a single question or a bulk run — now shows the progress spinner right away in the toast notification, instead of briefly displaying an empty circle before the run is registered server-side.
• Crash fixes in the workpaper editor: Two stability issues were resolved: one that could crash the workpaper when collapsing the chat panel via ESC in certain edge cases, and one triggered by mention transforms in the text editor.

Chat

• PDF-to-Excel exports work in follow-up messages: You can now ask the AI to export a PDF to Excel in a follow-up message, even after the original attachment has scrolled out of the latest turn. Previously the export tool was only available in the same message where the file was attached, making common workflows like "now export that to Excel" fail unexpectedly.
• Reorganized task chat sidebar header: Navigation controls (back to board, chat history) and action controls (new chat, expand/collapse, more options) are now split into distinct groups in the task chat header, improving discoverability and reducing visual clutter.

Formulas

• More reliable collective formula reductions: Formulas that aggregate multiple AI-retrieved values now handle mixed types correctly — numeric comparisons, boolean logic, and currency symbols (including $ prefixes) are preserved across collective reductions in AI retrieval formula paths.

Improvements

• PDF to Excel on large documents: The extraction pipeline that cleans and fills converted tables now processes pages in batches. Large PDFs that previously failed mid-conversion due to size limits will complete successfully. Pages that are exceptionally large are escalated to a higher-capacity model; pages that still exceed limits are skipped gracefully rather than aborting the entire conversion.

Bug Fixes

• OCR retry reliability: If an OCR job had to retry after partially completing, subsequent attempts could fail with a conflict error — leaving the file stuck in a failed state. Retries now cleanly replace any partial results, so files recover correctly without manual intervention.

Copilot Chat

• Citation continuity across conversation turns: when the AI cites document evidence with numbered references like [1] or [2], those source links are now carried forward into follow-up exchanges — the AI can correctly refer back to previously cited content in multi-turn conversations without losing context
• Copy and download controls on AI tables: markdown tables in AI responses now include a toolbar to copy or download tabular data directly, eliminating the need for manual selection
• Built-in product coaching: ask the copilot where to find any platform feature and it will describe what it does and guide you to the right page — the full platform layout is now part of its context in every chat mode

Engagement Board

• Filters persist across engagement switches: search queries and active filter selections now carry over when switching between engagements in the same browser session; assignee and category filters are automatically reconciled against the new engagement's valid values, with unrecognized values quietly dropped

Review

• Calculate-First mode for foot/crossfoot validation: draw all operands on the PDF first, then apply the result to a cell — an alternative to the standard flow; footer action buttons (Save, Reset, Apply Valid/Exception) stay pinned and accessible while scrolling the calculator panel
• Assignment focus mode: when the system cannot automatically link a drawn operand to its row and column in the table, the calculator collapses and a focused card guides you step-by-step to draw the row and column headers in the PDF to complete the link; the calculator re-expands once the link is resolved

Task Overview

• Task properties update live from AI chat: status, priority, due date, assignee, and category now reflect changes made via AI chat in real time — no page refresh needed
• Description stays current without refresh: the task description editor automatically remounts when AI chat updates the content externally, so edits appear immediately

Workpaper

• OCR is resilient to server interruptions: OCR processing now runs as a durable background job — if the server restarts mid-upload, the job is automatically picked up and completed on another node; duplicate OCR requests for the same file within 5 minutes are deduplicated; files no longer get stuck in a failed state due to transient server issues
• Formula cells export as live Excel formulas: cells whose value starts with = are written as real Excel formulas in all .xlsx exports — values calculate automatically when the file opens; number formatting (currency, date, number) is applied based on the column's data type
